Over Paradise Taveuni

"Second visit and my love for this place grows"

We had previously visited Paradise in 2012 and fell in love with the resort. Allan and Terri had created a beautiful environment with amazing food and staff which makes staying here delightful. This is our 5+ trip to Fiji and compare the other locations to Paradise and will continue to do so. Diving in Tavauni is fabulous and make better by the resorts dive crew as they are informative and makes every dive an adventure, the rooms are newly renovated yet comfortable, the spa is ultimate in relaxation, the food is delicious with a lot of choice and the smiling faces all over the resort makes it feel like a home away from home. Thank you and we will be back

"Great place, great people "

We just returned from a stay at Paradise. Can't say enough good things about the resort and staff. Terri and the crew were both attentive and caring. Came down with an illness and they made sure I had what I needed. Saw a negative review based on the rebuild after the cyclone. The place was wiped out and they complained about the workmanship. Didn't see anything wrong considering what they went through. Highly recommend a stay here. Long drive from the airport but worth it!

"Great option for diving"

We arrived at the resort by boat and were warmly welcomed by the staff and owner, Terri. The resort is set on the volcanic rocks which makes it an ideal location to snorkel or dive in the waters right off the edge of the resort, down the ladders. After the cyclone, there was a lot of time and effort that the staff have clearly put into the resort as the bures are very comfortable (in fact, they are currently building some new ones at the back) and the al fresco dining area with pizza oven is a lovely setting for pre-dinner drinks. There are great sunset views at Paradise Taveuni and the meke and lovo feast night here was quite enjoyable. The communal dining table was a great way to get to know our fellow guests. The staff are very friendly and will ensure you have a great stay at Paradise Taveuni.

"Paradise Resort = the name says it all"

We spent 9 nights at the marvellous Paradise Resort over the new year. We selected the resort as I am a scuba diver, and there is plenty of excellent diving available at many dive sites. Last year's cyclone Winston damaged many reefs and there is currently no shore diving coral to speak of, but Taveuni's Rainbow reef, the White Wall, Purple Wall are all in good shape. The diving operations are among the best I have ever used (hi Sarah and Frida) The roads on Taveuni are not in good shape, so as a result, while it does not look far on a map, the resort is quite remote. Be content to spend your time enjoying what the resort has to offer and the nearby excursions. If you plan to do something on the other side of the island - it will be a full day trip. Given the resort was wiped out by the cyclone less than a year ago, the rebuild is amazing and a credit to the owners Alan and Terri. The staff are all so friendly as well. How they memorise all the guests names has me beat - especially Flo the resort manager. I usually don't visit the same location twice, but this resort is on my list for a return visit.

"Beautiful Resort, Great Diving, Excellent Service"

First and foremost Paradise Taveuni is a Diving Resort that provides access to the world class dive sites on the famous Rainbow Reef in the Somasoma Strait. The diving is spectacular and the resort's services for divers are great. If you're a serious diver, the Rainbow Reef should be on your list of must-go sites and there's no better place to stay than at Paradise Taveuni. If you're not familiar with Fiji you should be aware that Taveuni Island is nothing like Hawaii. There are no high rise hotels, no big cities, no crowds, no nightclubs, no highways, no shopping centers, no Costco, no fast food restaurants, no tourist traps, no commercials, no newspapers, no parking lots, no Michelin starred restaurants, and no cineplex. The main road on the island is paved only near the teeny little airport that is serviced by Fiji Airlines. If you're looking for an active night life or a party scene you won't find it here. What you will find: natural beauty, a fantastic ocean, warm and friendly Fijians, and at Paradise Taveuni your private oasis of luxury in one of the world's truly remote locations. Your expectations of the resort's facilities should take into account that you'll be in one of the world's remote and relatively undeveloped places. If something breaks, there's no Home Depot nearby to get parts or a replacement. If the kitchen runs out of something, there's no Safeway down the road. The fact that Paradise Taveuni offers the level of luxury that it does while being so self-reliant is a testament to the capabilities of the owners, managers and staff. You'll wake up from your very comfortable bed in your spacious burre with a lovely view of coconut trees and the ocean. At your leisure stroll over to the dining area for coffee and a delicious breakfast. The dive boat usually leaves the dock around 8:00 or 8:30 AM. If you don't dive, you should go and snorkel. The trip to Rainbow Reef takes about a half hour or so and they usually do two dives there before returning to the resort in time for lunch. There's a good selection of lunches. The curry of the day is usually excellent. If there's no dive or other excursion planned for the afternoon you can plan a shore dive right off the dock by the resort, snorkel, kayak, get an excellent massage, read, or nap. Happy hour starts at about 6:00 PM and it's a great time to get acquainted with fellow guests, management and staff. Live music is provided every evening and the musicians and singers are fabulous. They offer a good variety of foods for dinner. A few reviewers have complained about the food quality, but there was always something on the menu that I really liked. The service is excellent. Be sure to stay at least a week so that you won't miss "Fiji Night" when you're entertained at dinner by music, dancing, and afterwards, a Kava ceremony. Take a day off from diving and take an excursion to the waterfalls and add a visit to an island Fijian Village. As great as the diving is, you shouldn't miss the opportunity to see and experience the Fiji culture. The Fijians are great and you'll soon be in the habit of smiling, waving and greeting with an enthusiastic "bula". My wife and I fell in love with Fiji and highly recommend Paradise Taveuni.
