We have just stayed here for 4 nights to start our honeymoon in Bali. It is absolutely stunning! The staff are so friendly and attentive and the atmosphere here is great, we have never felt so relaxed. Wish we stayed longer though as we have now arrived at our next resort for 10 nights (segara - sanur) and it is disappointing :( Would definitely recommend Uma, if we come back to Bali we will definitely return :)
A delightful serene hotel, but families welcome, we had a 3 and 14 year old with us. If your children are very loud, you may feel more comfortable somewhere else.We travelled as a family with 2 rooms. Pity they don't have family pool rooms, but minor point. Staff were truly delightful. Italian and pool restaurant very good, and not too expensive given a hotel. Up charging for local taxis to pick up at reception is not really on in my opinion. This was discussed amongst a few people around pool. These are not hotel cars.A 50k rupee trip costs 75 and wonder if they are fleecing the taxi drivers as well? This leaves a bad taste in mouth,is greedy nickel and dining and simply not necessary. All in all would recommend the hotel as great place to stay in Ubud.
"Most amazing place ever! "
My family and I stayed here for 3 nights in September for my mums 60th and we are still dreaming about it! It was the most wonderful place to stay - absolute paradise. The staff were 10/10 and they almost gave a one to one service - unbelievable service from start to finish! The food was outstanding and for breakfast they made whatever you wanted to an excellent standard. The rooms were massive and luxurious and it felt as if you were at a retreat. I cannot wait to go back here someday and would recommend this to everyone - 5 stars is not high enough for this hotel!
"Just a few doubts"
We stayed here as a family of 4 (all adults) in early October for 5 days in two rooms and overall had a wonderful time. The rooms are a delight, although the thought of any fantastic views (as advertised) were quickly dispelled as both rooms had little by way of view. However they were both clean, spacious and perfectly presented and maintained. The resort is a good 20 minute walk from Ubud centre (thankfully all downhill!) although there are some really good eating establishments within walking distance. The resort itself also offers some exceptional culinary experiences and, although expensive compared to local fare, well worth a splurge now and again. The breakfast experience here was truly wonderful and the stafff an absolute delight - what a credit to the resort. All other staff seemed to be keen to please and friendly although we sadly have our doubts as to their motivation....... The disappointment to us during sour stay was the clearly 'trained in' upselling that seemed to be prevalent throughout - every time we spoke to staff within the resort they seemed to be promoting the resort restaurants etc, or when we used the resort transport they were quickly trying to sell further trips. It was so obvious as to become boring and whilst no big deal to us made us question whether the staff friendliness was genuine. We hope it was. As an example, we bumped into the Manager one afternoon and he was very friendly and informative telling us the best route for a walk through the paddy fields - he suggested a car to take is to the start point which we accepted - no mention of charge. At check out, when we left the resort, the inflated transport charge was clear to see and I have to say we felt duped - having thought the Manager was doing is a favour - sadly he'd just been up selling. All in all this is a quality establishment and the many positive reviews preceding this one tell a true story - I just truly hope that the staff are genuinely concerned for their guests welfare and enjoyment, and it's not just a show to upsell the resorts 'extras'. We loved our stay, would recommend to others.....but just had a few doubts.
"Friendly, comfortable hotel"
Set in a quiet location just outside Ubud, with the sounds of the river below. Secluded so you don't realise there's anything else around - we visited the Neka gallery and suddenly realised it was actually next to the hotel (at street level it's a 100m or more). The rooms are dispersed around the grounds, so it feels like a much smaller hotel. Our room was a little close to the bar, so some noise at night. We had an outside shower but it was completely private. The pool area is the focal point although we didn't spend much time there. We stayed 4 nights and took time exploring the area. Breakfast is mostly cooked to order with a special of the day, very good. We had lunch and dinner in the bar area once and had good food, not as cheap as outside but not expensive by UK standards. The small gym is well equipped and we had it to ourselves whenever we visited. Never quite made yoga, but did the morning walk on our last day, wished we'd done it on our first as we'd have realised how easy it is to explore locally. We used a mix of hotel and local taxis, never a problem and reasonable prices. We also did one hotel private tour and another trip just driver we found. Not sure a guide adds much, perhaps a group hotel your would have been better value but less flexible. The staff were genuinely friendly, reception generally remembered who we were, as well as where we'd been. Not really for the hotel shop but we moved onto Nusa Dua from Ubud and our one regret is we didn't do more shopping, the quality in Ubud is significantly higher than the mostly rubbish here.
