Over State Game Lodge & Resort
De State Game Lodge is een prima uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan het Custer State Park. Ruige bergen omgeven de State Game Lodge.

"Great Spot for a beautiful lodge"
Very beautiful lodge, in which we stayed at while on a Globus Tour. We asked for ADA room, and it was as requested, with everything you need. Convenient lobby and breakfast area. Decor was great, goes right along with the area.
"State Game Lodge Cabins"
We stayed in the 2 bed cabins close to the creek. The cabins haven't been updated in 20 years. The carpet hadn't been swept, so I asked for it to be swept, since we were staying 2 nights. They didn't, but my note was gone. The mattresses were very old and hard. Only good thing about the stay was the Buffalo that eat in the grass field all night and are 50 feet from your cabin or fire ring at night.
"Beautiful Historic Lodge"
My husband and I stayed in the State Game Lodge for 3 days - in the historic room with 2 twin beds. The room was perfect, except it would have been better with a small dresser as opposed to the vanity. Since the room was so small, there was no space for your clothes or suitcases. The dinners in the restaurant were very good, while the breakfast was just okay. We loved the ambiance of the front porch and the bar. We took the Buffalo Jeep Safari Tour and it was awesome! A great location to spend the day at Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore. Thanks for a great start to our vacation!
"Great summer vacation spot"
We stayed in the Creekside Cabin and Bunkhouse. By the time we booked it was the only spot that could hold our party of 3 adults and 3 kids, however it could sleep up to 18, though I do think you would feel a bit jammed with that many people. The kitchen in the main house was pretty well equipped with pots/pans/dishes etc. We cooked dinner one night and made breakfasts and it worked out well. Stop at the grocery store in Rapid City or Custer on your way in as the grocery stores on site are not well stocked. Having laundry in the unit was a dream, though including a bit of laundry detergent would make for a nice addition. Outside the grill worked fine and the firepit was a hit with the kids. There was plenty of lawn to kick a soccer ball around on and otherwise enjoy being outside. We went on a Buffalo Safari and everyone was happy. Lots of buffalo, great pictures and the safari jeep can go off road to places you can't take your personal car. The staff at the Visitor's Center were very helpful and friendly. The visitors center is a great new addition to the park. Most of the buffalo are a bit away from the state game lodge (at least while we were there), but on morning runs I did come across a couple buffalo, deer and turkey. Keep your distance :) If there could be an enclosed walkway, this space would have been a 5 star! My only complaint was the woman who checked us in. I get that she was busy, but she all but threw the keys at us and as we found out when we got to the Cabin, she has only done keys for the main house, not the bunk house. When I called, she rudely said that she was swamped and we'd have to drive over to get keys to the bunkhouse if we wanted them. Odd. Everyone else was friendly and way happier. Great location to explore both Crazy Horse and Mount Rushmore.
"Hotel comfortable but breakfast service and quality poor."
Main lodge attractive. Stayed in rooms in detached facility which was comfortable but a "hike" to main lodge and the restaurant. Hotel staff was accommodating. Breakfast buffet quality was not very good and you needed to "tackle" a server to get help.
