Over State Game Lodge & Resort
De State Game Lodge is een prima uitvalsbasis voor een bezoek aan het Custer State Park. Ruige bergen omgeven de State Game Lodge.

"Creekside Rooms are nice"
We stayed in the Creekside rooms which are across the car park from the main lodge. The rooms are large and well equipped, however the WiFi is hit a miss. The staff are very nice and helpful, however you can really see the difference between the permanent local staff members and the summer squad who don't give the impression they know what they are doing. The restaurant is nice but inconsistent and over priced. I loved the fish with citrus crumb and decided to have it again. The second meal was different with no citrus and soggy crust. shame!
"Historic Property, but a bit tired"
We spent a couple nights in the Eisenhower Room at the State Game Lodge. The hotel in a very beautiful spot and is extremely historic. However, unfortunately I think the actual lodge rooms have been allowed to run down quite a bit. Poor bathrooms and general maintenance. If you really crave the historic nature of a place, then go for it. But if you like your accommodations somewhat modern and well kept I would choose something else.
"Two-bedroom cabin for family of five"
Our family wanted to visit Mount Rushmore over a four-day weekend. We decided to rent a cabin in Custer state park. Since it was off-season, we got a good deal. It turned out to average less than $200/night. Having a kitchen, as ill-equipped as it was saved our family from having to eat out. I would gladly put more money into comfortable accommodations and save on meals. We were lucky enough to stay in one of the newer cabins with a creek running behind it. It has several amenities: tv in every room, fridge, microwave, two-burner stovetop but no oven and no dishwasher. I'm not sure if this explains why housekeeping did our dishes everyday, but they did and it was much appreciated, especially since there was no dish rack. It took some time for us to adjust not having wifi but we would just drop our daughter at the lodge when she needed to do homework online. I would definitely stay here again, especially since the park is so central to the badlands, Mount Rushmore and much more.
"Very pretty and relaxing"
This place is perfect for a few days to get away from it all. Custer State Park is an amazingly beautiful place and this Lodge is right in the heart of it all. We stayed in one of the rooms that was off the main building. Kind of like a motel room. Place was spotless, nice bathroom, comfortable bed and was only a few feet away from the main building where there was a good restaurant and gift shop. Main building also has some nice public rooms with a cozy fireplace to hang out and relax after a busy day in the park. You won't be sorry if you stay here.
"Custer State Park is a secret gem...."
We have been going to custer state park for the last 5 years. The park itself is one of the prettiest places I have ever been. Buffalo roam free and there are trails and hikes for all. There are four lodges in the park and we have stayed at two of them. If you love the mountains and camping atmosphere custer is a MUST. There are also campsites for the "real" campers. The food at the State Game Lodge was delicious and rooms were clean and cozy. Beds and pillows could be a little bit better. Beds are hard.
