"Great Visit to Leroo!"
Leroo La Tau was the second of four camps in Botswana we visited in May, 2018. Very different from Camp Okavango as it is located on the Boteti River and all game drives are by jeep. TS was our guide and did an excellent job. Our primary game experiences were a group of 17 giraffes, a herd of over 100 zebras (TS told us best way to count is count the legs and divide by 4!) Had a great experience with an elephant where he came right up to the jeep and was maybe two feet away, walked around the jeep checking us out as we waited to see what he would do. Nicely appointed room overlooking the river which is low right now. When we arrived there was a herd of zebra right across the river from our room, a few minutes later they were gone and replaced with a bunch of cattle. A whole group of monkeys were running around theb pool area at lunchtime but they did not bother any of the guests. Food was very good-similar to what we had at other excellent botswana camps. No WIFI but there is a computer for guests to use in the library. Weird thing was you could access email and Facebook but almost no other websites. Not sure if that was by design or a glitch in the system. Another camp where you can't really spend money once you are there-all drinks and laundry are included in your package. Very enjoyable time here and would recommend to others.
"Birds and elephants"
Third visit to this lovely place, view over the river still great although no zebra this time! Cannot have everything just lucky last time. Fred Lenna Manilla and crew looked after us beautifully . KB had the beer cold before dinner .Ollie was an excellent guide found lots and lots of birds. Lion cubs were a bonus.. Hope to return in 2020. .
"Overlooking the Boteti River"
We added this lodge to our recent visit to Botswana to see a part of the country we hadn’t visited previously. The Makgadikgadi National Park is on the opposite bank of the Boteti River to the lodge, so all game drives start with a 10 minute boat ride upriver to where the game vehicles are parked. It is very lush by the river, but once up over the bank the ground becomes quite sandy and very dry. We were there in December so some rain had fallen and many of the bushes had fresh green leaves on them, making it a little more difficult to spot animals. We still saw elephants, giraffe, leopards, steenbok, jackals, zebra, hippos and masses of birds as well as crocodiles down by the river. The 12 lodges all faced out on to the river with the restaurant and main area being in the middle of the resort. The accommodation was very comfortable all with fantastic views over the river. Meals were all in the restaurant and we enjoyed al the food provided. A small bar provided drinks whenever you wanted them. There was also a full day trip to the Nxai Pan, but a couple of our team weren’t feeling up to 3.5 hours along dirt roads to get there, travel around and then the return trip. Overall an enjoyable visit which I would like to repeat at a different time of year.
"Safari so Goody"
Leroo was our final safari in Botswana on our two week vacation. We arrived with great anticipation wondering if it would live up to our expectations after our stays in Chobe and Camp Okavango; we were very pleasantly surprised and not disappointed by a totally different kind of camp. We were made very welcome on arrival, with fabulous accommodation over looking the river. Very private with fabulous views, and no wi-if or telephone to distract, just the peace and tranquility of nature. This was a fitting end to our fabulous stay in Botswana. We stayed for three nights with great food, enthusiastic team and a great guide, Tobo (aka Chemical) who was very knowledgeable, made the safaris very interesting. We had great little picnics, wonderful wildlife. We opted for the full day drive to the Salt pans and the Baines Baobab trees; although an extremely hot day and a long drive, the trip was well worth it. This time of year the pans are dry however, the water on the horizon was a mirage and fascinating to see. All in all a fabulous three days and we were sad to leave. Our sincere thanks to Tobo for some wonderful game drives and interesting conversations and stories at dinner.
"Botswana Safari Trip - Camp One"
Straight to camp from Jo'burg - Maun - then 5 seater plane with just the two of us - amazing introduction to our trip. Chemical was our guide - he was amazing and funny. We enjoyed the company of the other guests who also made our trip ( thanks Ziggy and Natasha). The camp staff made the experience extra special. Chemical went the extra mile to make sure that we got to see all the animals that were around. Boat trip across to the parks added extra fun
