"Safari so Goody"
Leroo was our final safari in Botswana on our two week vacation. We arrived with great anticipation wondering if it would live up to our expectations after our stays in Chobe and Camp Okavango; we were very pleasantly surprised and not disappointed by a totally different kind of camp. We were made very welcome on arrival, with fabulous accommodation over looking the river. Very private with fabulous views, and no wi-if or telephone to distract, just the peace and tranquility of nature. This was a fitting end to our fabulous stay in Botswana. We stayed for three nights with great food, enthusiastic team and a great guide, Tobo (aka Chemical) who was very knowledgeable, made the safaris very interesting. We had great little picnics, wonderful wildlife. We opted for the full day drive to the Salt pans and the Baines Baobab trees; although an extremely hot day and a long drive, the trip was well worth it. This time of year the pans are dry however, the water on the horizon was a mirage and fascinating to see. All in all a fabulous three days and we were sad to leave. Our sincere thanks to Tobo for some wonderful game drives and interesting conversations and stories at dinner.
"Botswana Safari Trip - Camp One"
Straight to camp from Jo'burg - Maun - then 5 seater plane with just the two of us - amazing introduction to our trip. Chemical was our guide - he was amazing and funny. We enjoyed the company of the other guests who also made our trip ( thanks Ziggy and Natasha). The camp staff made the experience extra special. Chemical went the extra mile to make sure that we got to see all the animals that were around. Boat trip across to the parks added extra fun
"Way beyond expectations"
This was our first lodge of four in Botswana. We had an amazing experience viewing wildlife morning and afternoon. Our guides were exceptional, not only providing us great opportunities for pictures but interesting information about the lives and habits of each animal. We expected to nap in the afternoon since we got up so early for the first game drive. However, the elephant show across the river from our deck was too riveting. What blew us away was how warm the staff, to a person, was. We felt like we were part of a Botswana family. Dancing and singing with them around dinner is in my heart and memory forever. Kudos to Manilla and her staff.
"Wildlife day and night."
While the accommodations and food are top notch, the thing that sets this apart from the other game lodges we stayed at is that the lodge is across the river from the national park, so that night drives could be permitted without the 7:00 curfew enforced in the parks and wildlife sanctuaries. The cabins are perched on a cliff overlooking the river and the balcony afforded a varying vista of birds and mammals coming and going. There were lion tracks along the walkway in the morning. A splendid place.
"Amazing experience - fabulous lodge"
This was our first stop on our safari (operated by Desert & Delta Botswana – we had 3 x 2 night stays) and we cannot fault Leroo, the staff, the food or the experience. The rooms are on the river bank where you get views of herds of animals coming to the water to feed (we saw a huge heard of zebra’s, wildebeest and elephants). The rooms are large, fully equipped with a glass front and a large terrace for you to take in the view. They were much more luxurious than I expected, they have all the amenities that you need and are spotless. Each day you got a wake-up call at 5.30 for breakfast at 6, then out on our safari until about 10.30 (start with a short boat ride to the jeeps). Back for brunch at 11, the you had until 3 to relax by the pool or take a siesta before afternoon tea and your afternoon safari. Dinner was at 8. You certainly did not go short of food and drink. The team arranged a private dinner for us one evening by candlelight as it was our honeymoon – just amazing. Calvin was our guide during our 2 nights stay - he is from a local village and his knowledge for the area and the wildlife in it is amazing. He was extremely accommodating, he listened to what you wanted to see and found it for you where possible. The safaris were beyond our expectations – an experience of a lifetime. We saw so many animals (lions, elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests, hippos plus so many more). We spend our sun-downers one evening watching a pack of lions eating a zebra. It was unreal. There is also a choice to do other things but, given that we were only there for 2 nights, we stuck with the morning and afternoon safaris on both days. The whole team were simply wonderful, so welcoming and friendly. The guides and managers sit with you for food and have some amazing stories. The food is absolutely delicious, plenty of choice and there is a large selection of drinks (wine, spirits and beer). It was the best start to our honeymoon possible, we cannot recommend Leroo La Tau highly enough.
