"Animals, birds in glorious numbers"
This comfortable, attractive lodge is perched above the Boteti River, a small stream when we were there. Within the river channel were thousands of animals of all kinds, large herds of zebra, impala, elephants, giraffes, buffalo, etc. coming in to drink from the parched surroundings. Lions were present as well. The rooms are very attractive, all glass facing the river bed, very comfortable, no A/C but large fans, huge bathroom, great deck for a ringside seat at the "show". Friendly, helpful, attentive staff, decent food.
We had 2 unforgettable days at Leroo La Tau full of a familiar atmosphere and a guide - Calvin - we couldn't get a better one. All the game drives gave us new surprises. He answered all our questions ( and we had a lot), showed us lots of different animals (including a lions family) as well as he was funny. We could feel how much he loves his job. Thank you Calvin, thank you to the whole staff for this wonderful stay!
"Beautiful First Stop on our Africa Safari"
After two full days of traveling to Botswana, Leroo La Tau was the ideal first stop on our Desert and Delta safari. We were greeted at the airstrip by our guide, Lasty, who made our trip very special. We arrived at the stunning camp, to be greeted by the manager, Nelson. Every employee at the camp introduced themselves to us, we had tea, checked into our beautiful rooms, and were treated to our first views of the animals. Hundreds of zebra, since the migration passes right below your room, as well as giraffe and a croc. The lodge is lovely, small and intimate. Our game drives were fantastic, Lasty was a very professional driver who knew so much about the area. The food was fantastic, the pool was lovely during the afternoon, and the employees were fantastic. You get such a great sense of the area since you eat meals with the game drivers and management. In addition, we really enjoyed meeting people from all over the world at meal times. The food was great, plenty of choices for even the pickiest eater (our 14 year old!) Because it's a desert area, the mornings were quite cool, probably about 40 F, and the afternoons would warm up nicely to about 80F.
"Just when we thought we had seen it all"
This Desert and Delta camp was the last on our trip and we had surely saved the best for last! The Boteti river was very low, but wildlife around the water was in abundance. We experienced zebras, beautiful elephants, an unexpected show of giraffes fighting and an incredible lion kill and all day activity that included a stand off between jackals and the lions as well as vultures. The food and amenities are first class as is the service and the warmth of the beautiful staff. Absolutely recommend this camp.
"Wonderful staff in an interesting camp"
We stayed in several of the Desert and Delta camps, and each was different and highly enjoyable. We visited in July, when there was not much water, and we saw a lot of wildlife. Zebras, Kudus, Wilderbeast and crocodiles were usually visible from the rooms, which are high up above the river and have a fantastic view. The staff were fantastic, very friendly and helpful, and very interesting to talk to. We were well looked after, and very well fed - the food was fantastic. The day trip to the salt pans is highly recommended - a different sight completely, with lots of Springbok, Ostriches and even some Oryx.
