"Just what we needed"

We didn't know much about the Cook Islands so had never really considered Rarotonga as a holiday destination - but it wasn't until a random deal popped up on the Luxury Escapes app for The Little Polynesian (or The Little Poly - as it's known to the locals) that we even considered it. For the past 10 years we've always travelled to Bali once or twice a year - but after this experience - I think we've found our new go-to resort! Neither of us could fault the experience we had. The staff are exceptionally friendly and their can-do attitude is amazing. What we loved about the Little Poly was how removed from the world we were. There were only a handful of other guests staying, and there were no kids (adult only resort after all) - so the only interaction we had with other people was when we dined at the restaurant - and even then sometimes we were the only guests and had the stunning view of the pool and beach to ourselves. There was nothing more sublime, then being able to open our villa door, step onto the sand, walk into that crystal clear water and just disappear from everything. To be honest I lost count of the hours we just laid in our bed, with all the blinds and the door open and just looked out to the reef, with a cool breeze flowing in. I really can not do this scene justice with words. The villa was faultless, it was well appointed, luxurious, modern (with a touch of island décor) and in very good condition. To be honest, I wouldn't have cared if we never ventured out of that room - Villa Ten (btw). Breakfast each morning was a culinary delight - there was a lot to choose from, and every meal had us debating food again until dinner time - THAT FULL! If you're after a luxury getaway, without the crowds and with the ability to just 'disappear' then the Little Poly is for you!

My wife surprised me with this vacation, and we both ended up surprised (we are in our early 50's)! We have never had such a wonderful experience. We were looking for a place that was warm, beautiful beaches, and quiet. We got that and more. I feel what made this vacation so blessed was not only the resort, but the people who worked there, and all of those we met. It restored our faith that there are still some good people on this Earth. We are already in the process of what it will take to return back next year, same time, same bungalow. There are not enough words!

"Fabulous vacation"

My husband and I stayed at the Little Polynesian Resort last week on vacation and could not have had a better experience. Any request we had was cheerfully met and we were given a room upgrade--beach front! The entire staff was wonderful and accommodating. The owner was on site frequently, also. The chef made outstanding meals. We will definitely be back.

"Somptuous bungalows and great location"

A small hotel with 10 beautiful bungalows on the lagoon. What is perhaps most remarkable is the willingness of the staff to accommodate all your wishes. Anyway some drawbacks. Bungalows are close from one another and you and you can hear what's happening next door. There is a small river next which brings a lot of mud when it is raining. WiFi works only when you are close to the office. The so-called garden rooms are dark without a garden and close to the main road. The place has potential but must be more professional for the price.

Simply one of the best resorts we have stayed in. Our flight was delayed so they rang our driver to enquire what was happening so we were confident we had picked a great resort. There are only 14 rooms, 10 of which are overlooking the lagoon, at one of the prettiest outlooks on the island. We stayed in room 10 which is at the end of the resort and very quiet. Rooms are large, and outstanding, complete with outdoor shower and spa bath if you require! The views from the small restaurant/bar area are stunning. Staff are friendly and helpful, and food was always excellent, and based on local "fayre". We opted for continental breakfast, but we had the occasional "side" off the cooked menu which was very good value. Local bus stop is just outside the hotel which is very convenient if you need it. A pleasant 40 minute walk along the beach into the local village makes this place ideally located and we would certainly return.
