Over Matamanoa Island Resort
Verder is iedereen vanaf 16 jaar welkom.

"Honeymoon in Paradise"
Enjoyed every moment on the island from the moment we stepped foot on it. The staff made the stay even more enjoyable. They made us feel welcomed and always greeted us by our names. My wife was given a flower to put on her ear at every meal which was great. The cold towels were great before meals as it was pretty hot there. Having just checkout of Yatule Resort earlier and experiencing their poor service, Matamanoa was just what we needed! We stayed in the Bure with a plunge pool, the beach was beautiful and throughout our stay there we pretty much had the beach to ourselves. It was definitely what my wife and I needed after a hectic week leading to our union. We only booked three nights and I wished we booked five it was that good. This place is definitely five star with the way they manage the resort. Thank you to the management of Matamanoa and the staff for making our stay a memorable one! Vinaka
"Amazing in every way."
We loved every moment. The staff are amazing, the restaurant food, the room, the vibe - all was perfect. Can't wait to go back. Don't worry about staying in Nadi or the Coast, just come straight here and enjoy every minute in paradise, with no screaming kids!
Definition of a Fijian tropical island. 42km off the mainland, a short 15 minutes by helicopter (weather permitting) or and hour & a half by Island hopping catamaran. This place is where honeymooners from all over the world flock. No kids allowed here. Accommodation - skip the "resort rooms" - they're just basic and not worth the effort. If you come here, pay the extra & stay in a beachfront Bure or Villa. Some words of caution. A tropical breakfast is included - basic but monotonous. You can pay for a cooked brekkie if you want to splash out. Lunches are also very monotonous & after a week you get tired of the same offerings. Same with dinner - remember you're on an island so you pay big bucks for slightly above average meals. But if you're only here for 3-4 nights (which most couples are), you'll be ok. There is a vegetarian menu if you ask. Friendly & accommodating staff, very laid back atmosphere.
"A Trip To Remember! We love Matamanoa! PARADISE!"
We started our 2 week fiji holiday at Shangri-la Coral Coast and what a disappointment it was. We left upset and deflated and in fact were starting to want to go home. I remember reading a couple of the 'negative' reviews on Matamanoa before we came and on the journey there I doubted our decision (purely because of our bad decision in choosing Shangri-la) We carried on and in the second week we chose Matamanoa and boy I am SO glad we did. It was the most wonderful Island with such an amazing staff!!! We spent our days relaxing in the private plunge pool overlooking a magnificent view, snorkeling, eating truly exquisite food (compliments to the chefs), drinking cocktails, kayaking, and swimming in the crystal clear water. When we wanted something more to do the resort offered a variety of daily acitivities (crab hunting, weaving, fiji language class etc) Matamanoa is truly everything we imagined Fiji to be! It is a perfect destination for people just wanting to kick back and relax and enjoy the Fiji Island life! I have no idea why there are even negative reviews for this resort as it is truly perfect. I can't fault one thing! I can't even begin to comprehend what people are complaining about. So much love for this resort and it's staff! I will be back and I 100% recommend it to others! 5 Star Resort no questions asked!!!! PERFECTION!
"The most unprofessional management and staff I have ever experienced"
I have never stayed in a hotel which have this kind of a unprofessional manager in the world. It is almost "if she is talking, she is lying". I will advise not to visit this place until a professional manager who cares about the customers start working here. Why would I never go back this place: 1-As you know, this island is in the middle of the ocean. You cannot just take a cab and go somewhere else after you checkout. On the web site, it says "if there is availability, you can do a late checkout". We went to here in off-season, so I booked the 4:30 boat. One day before checking out, we asked, and they said "sorry there is no availability". We said "okay", but when around 20 people left with the 10:30 boat, and only two couples arrived, we thought something fishy is going on. I checked our room from time to time, and no one even came to clean it until 2:30pm!!! They left us outside, in dead Fiji hit, for several hours, for no apparent reason! As someone working in travel industry, I would not do this to my customers, I would not do this to my enemies!! And yet they did. Now wait: I said (to the lady in the reception, who can lie as easy as her manager) that I want to talk to the manager. She brought me to the manager (note that the manager is like a "queen" here. She does not go the customer. Customer needs to come to her office). The manager, without any shame, told me that "it is their policy to checkout at 10 am". Hey lady, just look at your web page, and see what it says there! 2-Dead reefs: Yes, this one is not the management's fault, but the cyclone killed all the reefs so there are no reefs to look at, unless you like bleached reefs. 3-Giant cockroach: My wife is so afraid of cockroaches that we carry a mosquito tent with us and we make the tent on top of the bed (yes, it looks funny, but she sleeps well in it). In the other Fiji resort we stayed, the bed had mosquito net already. But there is not only no net here, but also there is 3-4 cm opening under the entrance door, where even a mouse can easily enter. What was the builders thinking? This is a tropical place where we saw giant spiders outside (no, fortunately neither spider nor a rodent entered the room). But a giant cockroach, bigger than anything I saw in United States, entered the room. I had a lot of trouble killing it. 4-Note that you need to add $200 per person to the hotel cost just for the boat travel. Their web site does not mention this. And the boat trip was on a boat with no working toilets! And they made us wait almost an hour under the sun for the airport bus! 5-I guess I don't need to mention the slow restaurant service since almost everyone else mentions this in their reviews. The reason of slowness is not the lack of staff. It is because they just don't care! When we first went there, we did not get the menu when entering, and although 2 ladies were preparing tables for the evening, none of them brought us the menu for like 15 minutes! And forget about ordering a "hot item" from the breakfast menu. A waiter left us the menu and never came back to ask what we want to order! 6-Lastly, I challenge you to see the young lady working in the restaurant smiling, even for a second. She does not know how to smile to the customers. If she does, send me a message :-). I would not advice this place to anyone, given the dead reefs and totally unprofessional staff. Next time I go to Fiji, I'll probably stay at the main island, and take day trips to different snorkeling sites. And if you go there, take the menu with you when entering the restaurant, and make sure to book the 10:30am boat when leaving!
