"PARADISE!"

   18-09-2017
No need for further explanation: PARADISE! From the start to the end, we felt like we were in a movie set being treated like royalty. This is really a one in a life experience, but we definitely hope to go back!

"Two stays already and we've now booked a third trip. It's that good."

   18-09-2017
We last stayed at Tokoriki in April 2017. I've waited a while before writing this review because I've not had a TripAdvisor account before. I'm sure most users of TripAdvisor are like me: happy to use the site and read the reviews when researching a trip, but never get around to actually writing a review. Tokoriki is the resort that has made me set up an account and write about just how good a holiday can be. So good that we're going back in April, for our third visit in 12 months. I like to holiday in different places, so this is pretty unusual. You'll see a lot of other reviews about Tokoriki. It might be you're like me, that when you're planning your holiday you want to make sure it's as good as it can be. You don't want to run the risk of anything going wrong, and sometimes you read a review and something minor puts you off. So I'm going to talk about a few things, including my take on some aspects other reviewers have not been happy with. 1. The People. The staff are incredible. Not just one or two people, but pretty much everyone. They are always smiling and laughing and really do remember your name. If you hermit in your bure, don't be surprised if it takes them a little longer to get to know you. Tell the dive shop team a joke - their laughter is infectious. 2. Peace and Quiet It's child free. This is a good thing, and explains why it's highly rated as a romantic/honeymooners resort. There is no wifi in the bures. This is also a good thing. There are no TVs in the bures - you can go to the TV lounge above reception if you really, really want to do what you do the other 51 weeks of the year. There are no phones in the bures. Enjoy the walk through the gardens to get your towel/ask a question/whatever. 3. Dining and Service In 13 nights across two stays we never encountered slow service at the bar, in the resturant, at the spa or at the dive shop. Anywhere. If I had, I probably wouldn't have cared anyway. Neither should you. What is the hurry? 4. Activities There is not an enormous list of activities to choose from. Unless you are keen on fishing or diving, you will need to be able to occupy yourself. Some people seem surprised that there isn't more to do, but ultimately Tokoriki is a small island surrounded by a lot of water. Bring books, sunbathe, play tennis, make conversation, go swimming or snorkelling. I highly recommend the Castaway Island trip, for the snorkelling if nothing else (watch for sunburn). The Island Picnic is good as well. I'm considering doing the prelim PADI work in the next couple of months so I can have a dive or two on my next trip. 5. Food and Cost We've not taken the meal plan either trip - it's a lot of food for a warm climate - but it works for many people. We prefer our own muesli for breakfast and have lunch and dinner in the restaurant. The food is very good (particularly the fish) but is is not cheap and nor are the drinks. If you are looking to save money, Tokoriki is not the right place for you. We budget around 12k NZD for a week for food, accomodation and activities. 6. Room We've had a beachfront bure and a villa. The main tipping point for me is the pool. The main pool is fantastic, except for one thing: there are only three pairs of shaded poolside loungers, which many people will want. The pool area never seems crowded and you'll get the shaded loungers some of the time. But for me if you want to spend a lot of time in/by a pool with a shaded area, the easy option is to get a pool bure or villa. The daybed in the villa is pretty awesome as well.

"Amazing holiday"

   18-09-2017
From the moment of arrival Tokoriki has the wow factor. You are greeted and then the staff welcome yiu with a Fijian song which is so beautiful and heartfelt. We had a Vila room with our own pool absolutely amazing. Outside shower which was fantastic. Room right on the ocean with views. Extremely clean and cleaned inside and outside every day. Service was amazing nothing was too much trouble ever. By the second day everyone greeted you by your first name. Food amazing for breakfast, lunch and dinner always different. If you are looking for a great holiday or just a few days do your self a favour and go to Tokoriki island in Fiji you won't regret it. I can't wait to go back.

"Heaven on Earth"

   17-09-2017
Stayed here for 4 nights and it was exactly what we needed. This is the epitome of luxury and 5 Star. The island is Adult only and limited to about 20 couples. The level of service is second to none and you truly feel like you are the most important people in the world when you vacation here. I do not know how they do it, but staff all knew our names from the time we were on the island.

"A romantic paradise on earth"

   16-09-2017
My wife and I spent four nights in early September 2017 for our honeymoon after three nights on the main island. Tokoriki Island Resort put our first half of the trip to shame! From the "wet landing" on the beach with the staff playing a traditional Fijian welcome song and shouting "bula!" on our arrival to the final day when we were still able to use all the amenities including a day room to clean up after killing time at the pool waiting for our boat, everything was phenomenal. Service was first class and 90% of the staff had our names memorized the first day. For reference, we staying in bure #16. The resort is "cashless" operation so there's no need to carry anything with you, really, at any time. There's also no TV, phone or wifi in any of the bures (and likely villas as well though I can't be sure on these) because they want you to enjoy the romance with your s/o. Based on time of day, our check-in process was a little disjointed but it was nothing to be concerned about; they were just finishing up cleaning our bure (we arrived at about 10:30am). We were talked into getting the meal plan which is expensive but worth it in the end, especially if you want to experience the tepenyiaki dinner and oceanside breakfast and dinner. Sam, our first contact from the resort met us on the boat, checked us in and guided us to our bure and he was fantastic. So was the bure: A grass thatched but totally enclosed room was well equipped with air conditioning, a luxurious king bed, private deck and lounge chairs, indoor/outdoor shower, dual vanities, hammock and private walk to the beach. Epic. They even had champagne waiting for us upon check in. The only drawback was the constant presence of tiny little ants inside the bathroom area and the fact that we eventually tracked some sort of bugs inside and got bit up a bit at night while sleeping. A relatively minor inconvenience but will force us to be safe and get checked out in regards to Zika. The outdoor shower was amazing and we really enjoyed starting at the stars as we got ready for dinner each night. The exec chef on staff is top-notch as all of our meals were plated extravagantly and tasked wonderful. The meal plan makes you want to experience every meal and we were stuffed just about the whole time. We've never eaten so many desserts in our life but they were totally worth it! The staff of the resort was wonderful and I cannot do nearly as well remembering their names as they did ours. Thank you to everyone but most notably, Sam, Teba, Tomasi, "Mamma", Paulo, Kris, Nika?, and all the others who welcomed us "home" and made us feel truly that way the entire time. Bula and vinaka vakalevu!!!
