We recently visited Tokoriki Island Resort. It was fantastic. It was what we expected from a tropical island. You can arrive by plane or ferry. We got the ferry from Denarau. It was a painless trip which took about 1 hr. On approach to Tokoriki a small boat will come and get you. You are then transferred to the island. It's a wet landing so you need to jump into water to get off boat so don't wear any fancy shoes. They are building a wharf so this may change in the future. The ferry back to Denarau was late and delayed. Took 2 hours to get back. You get a typical Fiji welcome. Big smiles and song. Very friendly service. Check-in is slow though as you wait while they process all new guests. Everything runs on Fiji time from this point onwards :) The bures are quite spacious. They come with AC which is needed at night as it gets warm. Our AC unit though was a bit noisy so we needed to leave it on low otherwise it was too noisy. Bed was comfortable but all 4 pillows were uncomfortable as they were very high and hard (all 4 pillows identical). A recommendation for them would be to have a few options in the room. I asked for different pillows but nothing arrived. Asked a second time and they eventually arrived.. Again everything runs on Fiji time so bring your patience. There are lots of small ants in the bures which is typical of island bure accommodation. There is spray in the room though. This didn't worry us but it may bother others.. The outdoor shower is amazing! Food is great. We got the meal plan so all meals were included. For breakfast you can order a la carte but you also have access to the buffet. Lunch is 2 course and Dinner 3 course. Be careful if you have allergies though. The staff did their best to cater for us as we needed gluten free but on 2 occasions they made mistakes with the meal where they served gluten. They quickly corrected the issue and provided new meals. Best to double check the orders if you have special needs. Definitely recommend the ocean front dining which is included in the meal package. Very romantic! Island itself is beautiful. It's small and mainly visited by honeymooners. There is a reef just offshore which is quite good for snorkeling. It's also free which is a bonus. There are no TV's or Wi-Fi in the room. Wi-Fi only works near reception area. Don't expect fast speed or reliable connections though. Wi-Fi was down for 1.5 days whilst I was here. If you are reliant on internet then it's best to have a plan B like a mobile or Wi-Fi hotspot device. This didn't bother me though. Its Fiji so I was more than happy to be off the grid.. Fiji hospitality is amazing. They are so friendly. Easily the nicest people I've ever met in all my travels. Really enjoyed my trip here. Definitely recommend..
"Most wonderful and caring staff, beautiful resort with luxurious bures, great food and many sports activities"
We recently celebrated our 10th Wedding Anniversary at the Adult Only Tokoriki Resort and couldn’t be happier with our selection! The staff is very attentive, caring, and helpful and surprised us several times with their attention to detail to ensure our stay was as romantic and memorable as possible without ever interfering in our personal space! During our 10-night-stay, we were stunned by the gorgeous views from anywhere at the resort and we loved the beautiful landscape and how immaculate everything was kept. We enjoyed the wonderful cuisine and very much appreciated the flexibility of accommodating any dietary needs! We took advantage of the ocean-side breakfast and dining options which are a must for that extra special feeling of being in paradise! The bures were generous in size and beautifully furnished in the traditional Fiji style while providing much privacy. We also enjoyed the organized trips (the Village Visit is a must!) and the complementary snorkel tours! One of the reasons we chose Tokoriki was because there is no TV/phone/Wi-Fi in the rooms – any of those options would be a huge interference with the peace and calmness at the resort. Take in the beauty and you can catch up watching TV when you are back home! Wi-Fi is available in the lobby and on the pool deck to check in with the rest of the world.... We can now officially support the many fabulous reviews the resort has received and can’t wait to go back to this romantic place!
"Cant go wrong with Tokoriki"
My wife and i have just returned from 6 nights at Tokoriki. We have been to Fiji a couple of times and tend to look for Adult Only Resorts. I will admit we were not originally booked with Tokoriki but due to the filming of survivor at the other resort we were transferred to Tokoriki. During this transfer process the staff at Tokoriki were so very helpful and made it easy for us to change at short notice, and we were not disappointed ( in fact truth be told we always wanted to go to tokoriki and finally we were going ). The Resort and grounds are lovely. The shared bar, dining and lounge area are very comfortable and provide access to internet should you need it. The main pool is also very nice, even though we didnt use it that much. The staff are always walking around making sure you have what you need. Their motto is "you are home" and they do what they can to look after you. the outdoor dining is very romantic and i was impressed that we didnt get attacked by insects, the resort seems to be totally clear of those types of problems. The Rooms are Large and spacious, we had a beach front plunge pool bure #27. The pools are much larger than i expected, and the beach is just 10M away and easily accessible. The sand is clear and white and the bures are private so that others generally cant see you in the pools. My preference after looking around the resort are the bures in the 20's as i felt that side of the island was nicer, but you really cant go wrong with any of the options. Food - we were on the meal plan and boy we ate like kings. the quantity of food for us was more than we could handle, often for dinner we couldn't fit in desert, we are small eaters, but i don't think anyone could go wrong on the meal plan. Yes the food is a touch more expensive than some other resorts, but you get a lot of food, and the quality is high. The chef prepared some amazing meals. If you are there for the traditional Lovo night then you are in for a treat, all you can eat buffet. The food at Tokoriki for the traditional night was by far the best of any of the other FIJI resorts we have been too. They really did this night well. kinda like going to a night time food market with food cooked on demand and high quality. We are not big drinkers, so we stuck to the off cocktail and mocktail. There are a large number of cocktails, mocktails a little light on options, but the staff will prepare what you want, so if you have your favorites write them down and bring them with you. the Coconut and Banana Milkshakes were very good :). During our stay we played table tennis, walked up the hill track ( to burn off some food ), and also did a charted fishing. we were lucky to catch a large spanish Mackerel and had the chef prepare this for our lunch. We were shocked to have a 5 course lunch with 5 differently cook fish plates, we are not huge fish eaters but we tried everything the chef presented and it was all amazing! Sashimi, Kokoda Fish, both things i didnt think i would ever eat, but after trying them, they were amazing.! Lastly the weather. We looked at Fiji constantly before we left and all we saw were thunderstorms, and rain etc. That's true for Nadi, but the island seems to not get these issues, we had great weather, the odd night time rain and cloud cover during the day ( which to be honest you wanted or it was too hot ). So don't be surprised if the weather looks bad on the net and you get there and its perfect! One very important comment. Tokoriki Island has two resorts. we happened to walk to the other resort to see what it was like. there is no comparison between the two, if you want a luxury, romantic, relaxing location then come here. If you want a barren, concrete laden commercial hotel then select the other location. You might find it a bit cheaper, but the difference is so dramatic in my opinion. To everyone at Tokoriki, thank you for the wonderful holiday, for the excellent service and for making us feel like nothing was too big an issue. I hope that we can find a way to return to the Island. Its not cheap, but its totally worth it, and we will now begin the long savings process to get back one day :). Greg + Olivia
"A magical week in paradise!"
What a fantastic week! This is one of the best resorts we have stayed at and we felt at home from the moment we stepped off the boat. Firstly, the staff are amazing and make sure you are well looked after. The villa we stayed in was gorgeous. The food was exceptional and we felt spoilt every time we ate at the restaurant. The menu is varied and the ingredients were top quality. There are watersports available and a great dive shop on site. We left feeling very relaxed and eager to return
The best resort we have been too. The staff are incredible - they remember everyone's names, cannot do enough for you and make sure you are well looked after. The sunset villas were beautiful (private plunge pools, sun beds, outdoor showers) and the food was exceptional. We have been fortunate enough to stay in some fantastic hotels over the years but this is the only place I yearn to head back to rather than find a new adventure. The water is crystal clear, the beach activities are fun (sailing, kayaking, paddleboarding) and the whole site is immaculately maintained. I could not think of a single way to improve the experience.
