Over First Landing Beach Resort

Gelegen aan een prima strand, waar ooit de eerste bewoners van Fiji hun voet aan land zetten. Welkom in het First Landing Beach Resort.

"Never saw the sun and got something better"

   08-01-2017
We landed in the midst/tail end of a cyclone (hurricane) and before the rains could stop and clouds disperse, another cyclone hit about 200 miles away. So, we did not have the hot sunny beach stop we thought we would have on our way to New Zealand. First, let me say that we spent four days and three nights in Fiji at the First Landing Beach Resort & Villa. We canceled on the scuba diving and snorkeling to which we looked forward. We did not get on any scenic boat cruises. We did not even sit on the beach. The facilities, the accommodations and food are all very good. What made our stay special were the staff and other Fijians we met. As a people, they were warm, welcoming and generous of spirit. I say this not because they were paid to be in service to those staying at the Resort but because they were authentically so. TripAdvisor is an unlikely place to talk politics and yet our wonderful experience in Fiji informed us about how good the world can be. Coming from the U.S. where a month before we had a polarizing negative election and where people are, whether left or right, angry and rigidly closed minded. Where the President elect chose to continue running, after the election, and is taking every opportunity to divide rather than bring citizens together, we were immersed in a culture of warmth and graciousness. We slowed down. My wife and I took long walks in the rain.... We learned how a simple but deep word, "Bula" can frame every interaction with warmth, curiosity and generosity. In short, we had a great time. When we return (we will) and have fine fair weather, we will be sure to spend time chatting with our hosts and enjoying the tonic that their lives represent.

"Superb! :) "

My partner and I spent NYE up until the 6th at First Landing. It was fantastic! Upon check in you are greeted with a 'Bula' smile! We were lucky enough, as a couple, to receive an upgrade to the ocean view apartment. I think this is because on the other side of the resort were many families, and maybe they wanted to be near each other.. no complaints from me and my boyfriend! The water and scenery is amazing! Not quite 'white sand' as there is quite a lot of coral washed up. We brought with us some coral shoes that proved handy for taking the kayaks out and snorkelling the reef there. If you are after a resort with the best snorkelling right at the hotel, this probably isn't for you, as the main island coral isn't the best (due from the cyclone they had in march 2016). Not a problem for us though, as we took a boat to the La De Da island tour (that leaves right from the hotels jetty). Amazing room, big spacious (and gorgeous) bathroom. Lovely message spelt out to us on the bed each day. It's about 20 minutes to Latoka and 30 minutes to Nadi. (25$ Fijian min) The boat shed (a five minute walk) is great to dine at as well.. however the first landing food is amazing! Be sure to join in on there kava ritual! Dessert isn't their thing though- but their seafood makes us for it!

"Holidays "

We had a great day here were we stayed 11 hours the Australian owner come out to introduce herself went out of her way to help us with anything we needed. It helps considering we had the worst experience down the road we're I wouldn't rate at all thanks to all the staff for the best day would highly recommend it if I ever go back to Fiji I'll be staying here

"Tropical bliss"

   06-01-2017
We spent several days at Furst Landingds in October 2015, with a wedding on Treasure Island in between. We stayed in a garden Bure first time which was lovely and then in an apartment by the pool which was perfect. The bar was open almost permanently with lovely food and great service. Our son took advantage of the free wifi while we enjoyed cocktails. A bit of a bus or taxi trip to town, but we were after peace and quiet so it was perfect. The beach was nice and around the corner was the marina, lovely trip!

"Good for a relaxing break"

   04-01-2017
My husband and I stayed here for 5 nights over New Year. We stayed in a beachfront bure which was clean and comfortable, and although the bathroom was a little tired, the veranda had lovely ocean views. There is a kids club and large family villas available so this place would be great for families. We did however find the resort to be a little isolated and excursions were expensive, so while I would stay here again, it would probably be for fewer nights, as there is not a lot to do other than relax by the pool and the beach. The pool is clean and pleasant, although on some days it was taken over by day trippers from cruise ships and there were insufficient sun loungers which was frustrating. The food and drinks were generally good: the pizzas on the bar menu were poor (far too much cheese on the toppings) but the steaks, seafood and curries on the main restaurant menu were tasty and well presented. Having dinner on the sand watching the beautiful sunset was a highlight. The staff were all fantastic and very friendly. Service at the bar and restaurant was particularly good. We also really enjoyed the lovely music during happy hour, and the traditional Fijian dancing in the meke on our final night.
