"Breathtaking place and amazing people"
Viwa is the most special place we have ever visited in Fiji. Secluded but yet full of things to do. We were there with our 16 years old son. The bures are all beachfront, beautifully appointed, spacious and with everything you need. There are 11 bures. We were in bure number 10, a bit far from the heart of the resort but very private and a pleasant walk on the sandy path. It is difficult to pick the best thing in Viwa since everything is so fantastic but my husband my son and I definitely will pick the staff at the resort, including the owners who are absolutely lovely and so much fun. We stayed 9 days and did not want to leave. We were so sad when they sang the farewell song and got into the boat. We learnt a bit more about Fijian culture through talking to the staff, visiting the village and historical sites and participating in some of the activities. There is a very small fee when you visit the villages but it is worth it. There is lot to do every day and most of it is free, in fact you only pay for deep sea fishing and diving. They will take us snorkelling nearly every day to a different place by boat at no cost. The same with handline fishing, they will use the boat and take us further from the resort where all the good spots are. My son caught a fish and they cleaned and cooked it for him. They invited him to play with the lovely musicians and everyone always included him in all activities. We never felt alone or left out. The food is really good. A large variety in the lunch menu and a different dinner menu every day. My favourite is Kokoda, a Fijian delicacy made with fresh raw fish. We also enjoyed the beef, chicken and pork. Always cooked to perfection, tasty and juicy. Excellent food, fresh and full of taste. Wifi is a bit expensive in the resort. FJ$ 30 for 24 hours. If I knew, I would had organised a data package from Nadi. Every night there is entertainment. We enjoyed the trivia night, there is also other games but my favourite was the Fiji night which also included the Kava ceremony. If you are staying only a few nights, you may want to book your stay to coincide with this event. It is absolutely beautiful, the costumes, the dancing and the singing. Sunday night we all sit together to share a meal, really family like. The amazing voices of the staff and villagers come together to sing for us. In fact, we were greeted with a song every morning and during the day. They have the most amazing voices, truly heavenly. It would be really unfair to name everyone that made our stay so beautiful for fear of leaving someone out, but I need to really say that Melea, Vaku and Tevita were so wonderful with my son; taking him handline fishing, playing sports with him or simply just hanging out. The band was also wonderful, letting my son play the bongos during their music sessions. Maria, Sera, Mili and Naomi deserve an award for putting up with my husband who hammered them with stories and Italian recipes. Tunny and all staff at the restaurant and bar were fantastic, thank you for feeding the â€Italian†lots of bread. Thank you Viwa family. I hope to see you all again soon.
I arrived at Viwa Island resort by seaplane( which I highly recommend) and was met by the staff and owners of the resort with a welcome song on the beach, what a lovely start to my holiday. I was given a rundown of my stay at the resort by Louise ( one of the owners) and very quickly settled in to the slow and chilled pace of island life. The resort has one main building where it all happens, and the accommodation far enough away that you don't hear anything. My accommodation was lovely, spotlessly clean and all the amenities you would need. I loved waking up in the morning and having a coffee on the terrace before breakfast right on the beach.... heaven. There is plenty going on at Viwa island if you can summon the energy to get off your lounger from the beach. Diving, deep sea fishing, line fishing snorkelling and kayaking. I was so impressed that the resort only costs for the above were diving and deep sea fishing, everything else was free. I can recommend the deep sea fishing,it's a great day out on the water. I am not into diving but all the guests were saying how great Roy was and the best diving instructor they had ever had. The staff are all lovely at the resort, super friendly and very helpful. The food was lovely too and so much choice on the menus that there is something for everyone. Happy hour at the bar was great also and it was lovely to catch up with the other guests and chat about what we had done that day. The resort also has something on every night after dinner I particularly enjoyed the crab racing and family night. I thought once i had visited Viwa that I would be done, but honestly can say, I can't wait to go back. It was one of the most chilled holidays I have ever had, but that was due to the staff and owners. I recommend contacting Viwa island direct to book as the staff are so helpful. I dealt with Louise and she organised my transfers etc for me and was so nice also. I felt confident that everything would run smoothly, and it did. One of my best holidays ever.
"A True Paradise!!"
My husband, daughter(21),son(18) and myself have just returned from a magical ten days in a true paradise called Viwa Island Resort! Sheung, Sean, Akuila, and all the wonderful staff made us feel like part of the family. There is so much to do such as snorkelling the beautiful beach with amazing coral and fish, all within meters of your bure, or go on a snorkelling safari, kayaking, history and village tours, line fishing, paddle boarding, beach volleyball, stargazing, attend a church service, happy hour sipping cocktails overlooking beautiful sunset from the balcony while listening to the staff band play music, the list goes on. The food was so delicious and there was a variety to choose from. I highly recommend having a massage on the beach by Maria. Very relaxing as you hear the sound of the waves. Bures are comfortable and spacious with airconditioning and fans. The landscaping is beautifully maintained with plenty of Hibiscus, frangipani and palm trees. If you like, you can read a book on a hammock or on the daybeds on the beach. You can really do as much or as little as you like...the choice is yours. We're so glad we visited Viwa and hope to return soon!!! Vinaka Vaka Levu, Tina, Chris, Barbara & James-Melbourne, Australia.
"Amazing island and people"
My partner and I loved our 5 days at viwa island resort. As soon as we were picked up from the yasawa flyer on the resort speed boat we knew it was going to be special. The welcome on the island was amazing from the staff singing on the beach. (The staff at the resort were particularly good singers). All the staff were so lovely and friendly and genuinely cared for the guests and took the time to chat and get to know you. There is always something to do on the island, different kinds of activities, cooking classes, snorkeling, village trips. Even just sitting on the veranda of the beach front bure and taking in the wonderful view is enough. There was always things to do in the evening too which was good fun. We really felt that we experienced proper fijian culture on viwa island. Also complements to the chef as the food was always great. The bures here were lovely, all beachfront, large and clean. This is such a special place, we are working out when we can come back!
Great resort! Management and the staff are friendly and attentive. Facilities are clean. Restaurant is very good - nothing fancy, bit everything was very fresh and very tasty! Fell in love with the salads, kokoda & grilled fish. Service was very good too. Beach is great. The best place to have a quiet and relaxing holiday! Snorkeling trips were great - one of the best snorkeling spots, both in terms of overall scenery and underwater world. Snorkeling off the beach is OK - unfortunately plenty of corals have been damaged by the recent cyclone, but the fish is still there! :) Plus, the staff from the resort do whatever they can to restore/plant new corals.
