Viwa offers the most pampered hospitality that is at the same time non-intrusive. The natural beauty of the island is breathtaking and the staff and management are peacefully efficient. The room was quiet and private and its close proximity to the quietly lapping ocean was wonderfully peaceful day and night. We loved the personalised service provided on Viwa and we still miss the beautiful singing and smiling faces of the local people. We least liked having to leave this little piece of paradise and am hopeful that we will return at some time in the future. Vinaka Vaka Levu Garry and Jennifer
"Superb Holiday. "
Cannot speak highly enough of this property. It's not cheap, and there is the odd, very minor blemish, but for relaxation, peace and quiet, ambience, and delightful friendly staff, it's unsurpassed in my experience. Sharon and I came here to relax after a very busy and sometimes stressful past 10 months, and have found a place we will sadly miss when we leave. Sheung, Akuila and staff opened their home to us, and made us feel like we belong here. Bula vinaka too you all, you have made us feel special. Peace!
This was our second trip to Viwa .We were very impressed how much it had improved under the new owners. Everything about this place is great . The hospitality of the owners and staff is without doubt the best we have experienced. If you wish to experience the wonderful Fijian culture, have a relaxing and enjoyable holiday then we highly recommend Viwa.Already planning our next trip back. Vinaka from Greg and Lyn.
"Your own private paradise!"
Viwa island resort is an amazing piece of paradise and everything anyone thinks a Fiji vacation should be! The location is fantastic with relaxing bures right on the beach and limited to only 11 bures on the property. You would wake up to clean white sand surrounded by crystal clear shades of aqua water with no one else around most times, only the fish swimming by. Sunsets were gorgeous that we hoped would never end. Aside from the beauty, the people of Viwa are beyond amazing! They were all so friendly, hospitable, and genuinely good people. Whatever you needed or needed help with, they were happy to assist with a smile on their faces. They made a huge effort in learning your names and trying to make you feel at home. We were ridiculously spoiled and did not realize it until we traveled to other islands and hotels. Even the other guests who stayed there were fantastic, mixing CEOs, retired folks, students, couples, and friends for a diverse range of people who were relaxed and so friendly, just looking for a good time. There were plenty of day and night time activities from scuba diving, snorkeling, paddle boarding, traditional dances, cooking lessons to visiting a village to keep you occupied both on land and in the water if you can not relax on the beach all day. The food was also delicious and fresh with a rotating menu to keep things interesting. I generally don't eat fish but when it's that fresh and prepared deliciously, it was hard to say no. If you are looking for a get away where you mainly wear your swimsuit and no shoes all day while relaxing with your friends or family or hanging out with other people from all walks of life who have no cares in the world, Viwa is the paradise for you.
"The beach paradise holiday you always imagined"
We came to Viwa for our honeymoon with high expectations based on all the five-star reviews here and the price. This resort exceeded all of them from the moment we were greeted at the beach. Our nine nights here sailed by and we easily could have stayed nine more. It's not often you meet the actual owners at a luxury resort, but Roy, Louise and Shueng greet you on arrival and are always around at the end of the day for happy hour drinks, after-dinner chats and of course to help you out with any needs. Roy says they want the place feel like you're visiting friends and that's exactly what they've achieved. Being Fiji the friendly hospitality was always going to be genuine though all the staff at Viwa take that extra step to make you feel welcome like family from the moment they gather on the beach for a beautiful musical greeting. How they instantly remembered our names is a mystery! The beach itself is the stuff of dreams - with white coral sand and clear turquoise water that is bath warm in the shallows. The accommodation is nice, spacious and airy. The king size bed was big and comfortable and combined with thee sound of the waves made for a good sleep. There's there's a big balcony with deckchairs on which to chill, as well as your own deckchairs/umbrella and a hammock on the beach in front. While it's not your own private beach it often feels like it is. As well as daily housekeeping there is also a turn down service in the evening. Food is excellent and reasonably priced considering how remote this island is - the preparation and presentation is top-class with plenty of variety in terms of cuisine. Fish is fresh, but variety is dependent on local catches so the menu was pretty tuna heavy during our stay. The fish curry on the lunch menu is a must and the beef steak on the dinner menu was always cooked to perfection. The lunch/dinner package with the one-course lunch and two-course dinner was more than enough, considering breakfast is included. The service is always friendly. Drinks are also well priced and cheaper than the bar at Nadi Airport. Happy hour is great fun, with a good range of cocktails, and the wonderful bar staff make it all more enjoyable. It's one thing we really missed after returning home, not least because of the wonderful band, made up of staff members, who play a mix if Fijian songs and some familiar hits with an island twist. Other staff join them for to sing welcome and farewell songs for guests and you can't help be emotionally swept up by their talent and enthusiasm. The restaurant and bar is in a large, open-spaced bure with amazing views over the pool, beach, reef and distant islands. There's also a lounge area where you can sit around to take in the views and sea breeze while using the free guest wifi (which isn't free if you want it in your room). The pool is pretty basic compared to larger resorts and is full of sea water, which is incredibly clear - that said the beach is so good you won't really want to swim in the pool except maybe at low tide. There are a few activities to do everyday though no one pushes you to do anything - we loved the snorkelling trips by boat and also enjoyed the village tour, cooking demo and handline fishing (not that we caught much). Snorkelling gear and kayaks are available to use for free if you fancy doing those things in your own time - there's plenty of coral and fish close to shore to enjoy. Each night has a different activity depending on the day including Fijian Night, with kava ceremony, Pacific night on the beach, the crab race and the fiery men v women trivia night. Again there's no pressure to take part but you can't but help get involved. We have been lucky to visit different resorts around the world and this is right up there as a favourite. Its boutique nature means that even if fully occupied there's always a sense of intimacy, but there's enough people around to have a chat and make new friends from around the world. Another thing we like about Viwa Island Resort is how it employs many of the island's 500-population and also benefits the villages by raising money for the school and kindergarten. It's also environmentally friendly with a large solar farm and battery storage to run much of the resort's power needs. Water comes from rainwater tanks or a bore which is desalinated and waste water is treated and used in the gardens with none of it directly flowing into the sea. Getting there - we highly recommend the Turtle Airways seaplane which is an enjoyable half hour flight with fantastic scenery.
