Over Hilton Bora Bora Nui Resort & Spa

"A magical experience"
My wife and I just had 7 magical nights at this amazing hotel staying in the overwater villas. The staff could not do enough for you a special thank you to yvette for all the hard work she did for us to renew our wedding vows and lokelani in the beach bar and grille who always had time to talk with you and smile as all the staff did many thanks again to all the staff who made our holiday so wonderful
Had the most relaxful and luxurious experience at this hotel. A complete dream holiday. The accomodation was absolutely magnificent. We stayed in the king delux overwater bungalows. Definitely worth getting one of these ones as the water is deeper to swim in and it's a bit more private. Staff were wonderful and the breakfast is unreal. The French restaurant is also fabulous. Would recommend to anyone needing a really restful break.
"Paradise in the Pacific"
A wonderful stay in a beautiful hotel. Simply the best! Great activities available. Very helpful and friendly staff. You will never tire of the views! Amazing beach with fish and coral right in front of you.
"Luxurious, Stunning Views, Relaxing Stay, Amazing Reef... However Sadly Quite A Few Cons - An Honest Opinion"
Let me start by saying, we enjoyed our stay here and despite numerous cons (outlined below), we still had a great time, but would recommend some improvements are implemented fairly quickly by Management. We spent 15 days at Conrad Bora Bora Nui, in a King Pool Overwater Villa. Starting with the Pros .... The room itself was stunning and the recent refurbishments and upgrades have been superbly carried out! With the exception of a few things in our room (listed under cons). The overwater nets on our deck, was one of my absolute favourite things! So relaxing, laying out here and feeling the breeze from the ocean was spectacular! Such a great stress relief! AMAZING!! I spent hours every day, both in the morning watching the sunrise and at night gazing at the stars! laying out here was pure relaxation! Our private pool was great, perfect temperature, crystal clear water, perfect size for the two of us to relax in. Many hours of fun were spent chilling out in the pool! The bluetooth music device in the room, being able to play music out on the deck while lazing in the pool or on the net was great! A really nice bonus touch! While renovations are still continuing, these do not cause many disruptions and work is fairly quiet and not at all overbearing! The only exception to this is we could hear the construction work the entire time we were getting our spa treatments, which wasn't very relaxing. The resort is stunning and very well maintained. Exceptionally clean and views and reef to die for! Staff are so friendly and polite and I couldn't fault how lovely every single staff member was. A truly wonderful group of people who deserve credit for their efforts and outstanding treatment of guests! A massive thanks to all the workers here, you are a credit to the Conrad name and made our stay enjoyable! The reef is stunning and so well looked after. Was exceptionally special to be so close and to see such beautiful reef on a daily basis. We paid an eco-reef fee each day of our stay and were happy to see this money go towards the preservation of this stunning reef! The amenities are fantastic; the common pool is gorgeous, the free use of paddle boards, boats and canoes etc. was fantastic and I would highly recommend everyone use these as much as possible during their stay! Our favourite activity was the mini-golf course, lots of fun times spent here and hardly any guests seem to use it! There are free bikes you can use to ride around the island, which is so much fun and a great way to get around! The viewing deck for the sunset is great, besides the fact it's directly next to the staff dock, which was no issue at all, besides the mountain of rubbish dumped there? Not staff rubbish, looks more like resort rubbish! A bit of a let down given the stunning views! A bench or two to sit on would also be a nice touch! Upa Upa lounge was a great place to have a few cocktails at night, fun lounges, funky fun design, right by the water! We enjoyed our time spent here, however I have noted a few cons further on. One of the biggest pro was walking around the resort each day it was SO quiet, there was hardly any noise. We saw a maximum of about 10 couples per day while walking around, it was so quiet, despite being booked out (or so we are told it was?)! A fantastic touch being able to get so much peace and quiet! A brief background as to why we chose to stay at this resort ..... We selected to stay at Conrad Bora Bora Nui as we had stayed at the Conrad Maldives Rangali Island over Christmas / New Years and after not being able to fault anything during our stay there, we had high expectations and thought Conrad Bora Bora Nui would be on par, which sadly it was not. Now unfortunately onto the cons ...... - THE FOOD!!! The biggest complaint of our whole stay, the food was utterly appalling! Dreadful, woeful, inedible. YUCK!!! I can only name one enjoyable meal out of every single meal we ate at the resort! It was some of the worst food I have ever eaten and not to a standard I would expect at a resort of the quality. We also noticed that if we ordered the same dish at any of the restaurants, it was different and came with totally different ingredients each time?! Some serious improvement to the food is needed! This in itself would stop us ever returning, it was honestly that awful! - The price of the food and drinks was also exceptionally high for the quality of food we were served up ... $50(AUD) for a pizza, $40(AUD) for a cocktail, $11(AUD) for 2 tea-spoons of ice cream! Given you are a captive audience we were expecting everything to be expensive, which is completely fine if you are getting quality food and drinks, but it was such a disgrace to even call most of it "food" that it was not worth anywhere near this amount! - Majority of cocktails were also dreadful, we could barely drink many of them as they tasted revolting. Some had WAY too much alcohol and they tasted like you were drinking directly from a straight bottle of spirits. Others had ingredients not listed on the menu causing strange tastes that did not mix. We ended up drinking mocktails and asking for a shot or 2 of whatever alcohol we wanted to be put in, as this seemed like a safer option. - Room service! An additional $24(AUD) for delivery to your room is added to every room service order. Additional cost on top of this for any orders after 10:30pm! Even if you just order cans of soft drink, it's still charged! Ridiculous! We also got several incorrect items and the "salad" was a bowl of brown lettuce. Yuck! Off lettuce and not a single other ingredient?? We waited 1.5 hours on one occasion for completely inedible food to be delivered, despite being advised delivery would occur within 30 minutes. - Opening times of the restaurants / bars etc is terrible. When you are stuck on an island, you expect more than 1 restaurant to be open during the day. We also thought that the cocktail bar would be open during the day, not only at night. Upa Upa lounge also opened 30-45 minutes later on multiple occasions than it was supposed to. - the resort has a slightly "fake" feel to it, it was very obvious palm trees had been strategically placed for that perfect photo. We didn't feel like it has natural beauty, rather fake / planned out beauty. The only exception was the reef, which is stunning natural beauty. In saying this though, we still found the island very beautiful and it wasn't a huge concern. - the spa was definitely not worth the money! While the location / views / rooms and staff were all fantastic, our treatments themselves were absolutely terrible. We tried twice, hoping things would improve, which they did not! First time having deep tissue massages, which we have regularly at home. I badly bruised and could not lean on my back after, I even struggled to have clothes against it for days after. The treatment seemed aimed at inflicting as much pain as possible and not actually helping nor relieving sore muscles. I'd like to mention I have never bruised from regular deep tissue massages before. Our second treatment, we opted for a Tahitian massage, it was such light rubbing, not massaging, that we could barely feel anything at all and this could not in anyway be classified as a massage. The hot towels that they used also burnt, leaving blisters on one of my feet. As also noted above, this was the only place we could hear the construction work, not relaxing at all hearing this throughout your treatment. Far from impressed! - The Room. While we thought the upgrades carried out were excellent, there were a few items that had clearly been rushed! The wall paper hung on the ceiling had large gaps between sheets and was already badly bubbling and beginning to peel. There was also a section of ceiling installed outside the bathroom door that seemed temporary? The ceiling was just randomly screwed in and not properly installed? We were one of only a couple of rooms that had old deck chairs and an old table and chairs, which was a bit disappointing given we could see the new deck chairs and tables on all the other decks. - Privacy! Given the amount you pay, we expected a lot more privacy on our outdoor deck area! Unfortunately, there is no privacy at all and everyone can see straight in. Other similar resorts we have stayed in have had privacy screens in place between the bungalows, so that the only people who can see in have to be swimming or paddling by. - Cleaning / Restocking was a bit of an issue. We found our room to be fairly well cleaned, except for the bathroom floor! We put sunscreen on in the bathroom and the floor remained unmopped or cleaned for over a week, leaving it incredibly slippery. We also note that coffee pods and powdered milk was hardly ever replaced, so we couldn't even use the coffee machine when we wanted!! Not sure why you are supplied with powdered milk given the cost of staying here ... a small container of fresh milk would not go astray. When they are replaced, you get one sachet of milk powder per person, so you can't have more than 1 cup of tea or coffee per day if you want "milk". We ended up paying for our own milk at a supermarket and bought it back over to the island with us. We had cups / saucers / cutlery removed from our room and it was never replaced our whole stay. Occasionally bottles of water were not provided for a couple of days. Towels for the pool were also occasionally not replaced at all. We had several dirty cleaning cloths left in our room. - Maintenance. We complained about 2 things while we were staying here; first was the TV, our tv would not go down and when you pressed the "down" button it rocked violently back and forth. It took as about 10-15 minutes every time we wanted to put the tv down to get it to work. A maintenance man came, gave us a new remote, we showed him it still did not work correctly and he left without saying or doing anything further and didn't fix anything. We ended up being stuck with this issue our whole stay. Our second complaint was that our air conditioner was leaking green gunk onto the couch below. The gentleman we advised this to said Maintenance would look at it, however I can't tell you if they ever did or not. - Account Charges! We had multiple extra items charged to our account and had to complain and have these removed numerous times throughout our stay. We had extra food, drinks, shuttles and tours added. One of the charges was for $825(AUD) extra!! We monitored all our charges extremely closely, but if you do not you would easily be charged far more than you should be. - Booking tours. We left several messages and visited concierge multiple times, a lot of the times we were assisted straight away, however a few times we were told they would get back to us and we found that several times they did not, we had to continually follow up ourselves or we would have missed out on doing a lot of things. We also booked one tour and only found out after that the hotel had no contract with the company and we had to pay the company direct by credit card, this was fine, however the tour had been "booked" for days and we were only advised the night before that we had to pay or the company wouldn't pick us up. When we went on the tour, the tour operators apologised and said they had spoken on the phone to concierge at least 15 times just to make sure we didn't miss our and told us they have been waiting for months and months for Conrad to sign the contract (this is not what we had been told by staff at the Conrad?). - Shuttle. The boat shuttle back and forth from Conrad to Vaitape (main island) is not cheap and is anywhere from $40(AUD) to $60(AUD) per return trip, depending what time of day or night you go over. We found shuttles could have run more often as there was a period during the day where you were stuck on the island and could not get back to the resort if you wanted. We also found that every return shuttle back to Conrad was late! We rushed to make sure we were at the dock on time and had to wait and wait, with some shuttles being 15 minutes late. Expensive outing if you travel back and forth once or twice a day. Also note that the cost of the shuttle is not included in tour prices and you have to pay this on top. Would be a good suggestion to include the shuttle in the tour price. - Marine Life (not the resorts fault). We found there was hardly any marine life, a few fish and the occasional eagle ray or shark, but nothing spectacular. I think after staying the in Maldives and having constant marine life swimming past our room all day and night, we were expecting a lot more! I know I should not compare different hotels and this is in no way the resorts fault in any way. All in all, an enjoyable stay, however I would highly recommend some urgent improvements, in particular the food! As much as we enjoyed our stay, I would be unlikely to return due to the various cons listed. We LOVED Bora Bora and would love to go back, however will likely stay elsewhere when we return.
"Friendly staff, good food, wonderful overwater villa with pool"
We are currently staying at the Conrad and couldn't be happier. We were in a wonderful villa with great service. Worth everything to get here. We don't want to leave. I would recommend the Conrad to anyone!!! Thanks for a wonderful vacation.
