"Fabulous Experience in Moorea!"
We LOVED Moorea, and our stay at the Intercontinental was wonderful! We had a "Classic" room in the main building (not a bungalow) and it was delightful in every way. The room was clean and modern, with beautiful Polynesian-styled furnishings and decor, and a balcony with a view of the gardens, pool, and the lagoon beyond. Truly one of my favorite hotel rooms ever! The hotel staff was exceedingly friendly, helpful, and professional in every situation. Virtually everyone we encountered spoke at least three languages (English, French, and Tahitian). The concierge helped us arrange two wonderful excursions: a 4x4 land safari, and a lagoon excursion to feed sharks and rays. I was wary about spending money on excursions through a hotel at first, but we soon learned that this really is one of the best ways to access the islands - often it's the only way to see certain sights. Shout out to Patrick for an excellent tour by land, and to Louie for introducing us to the sharks & rays! When we weren't exploring the island, we enjoyed exploring the hotel. It was lovely to walk around the lagoon bungalows, especially in the late afternoon when the sunlight makes the views absolutely magical. We saw a variety of fish and birds as we walked the grounds, and visited their Sea Turtle Sanctuary, which seems to be doing good work. There's also a dolphin encounter with captive dolphins. We did not participate in this, but it appears to have a heavy educational focus (rather than entertainment/making animals do tricks), so that was positive as well. We had one meal at the pool restaurant, and one via room-service, and both were good. Otherwise we gathered food at local markets and just ate simply on our balcony. LOVED IT.
"A slice of paradise!"
My Wife and I stayed at this amazing hotel for 5 days in January and loved every minute of it! We were in a premium over the water bungalow (#514), which was one of the bungalows that was completely over the water. The location was very private in conjunction to the other bungalows, the view of the open ocean and mountains was simply stunning. The room itself was perfect. The snorkelling off of our deck was amazing, it was just like jumping into an aquarium! We even saw multiple sea turtles and black tip sharks. The only thing to be conscious of while snorkelling off of this bungalow is that on occasional motor boat do go by very close to the bungalow, so if you have to be aware when you are in the water. We went to the Polynesian themed show and BBQ dinner on the beach which we really enjoyed. The Concierge also recommend two off the resort restaurants which were fantastic (Coco D'isle and Les Tipaniers). Tips: Take advantage of the 1hr free kayaks at the resort and paddle to where the tour groups go to feed the shark and sting rays. It's an easy paddle (about 10 min), if you are standing on the main dock looking towards the water, if you look to your left you will see where all the tour boats/jet skies are anchored in the water in the distance, that is the feeding spot. -Bring lots of sun screen! I know that sounds obvious but for whatever reason both my Wife and I got suns burns significantly faster than when we are in the Caribbean. -Bring lots of big spray for the night time. -We brought tropical fish food which we used when snorkelling, which made for some great photos. -Visit Lagoonarium, it was the highlight of our trip. We rented a car from Avis at the resort and drove ourselves and then after drove up to Belvedere lookout. The roads in Moorea seem to be very well maintained and driving conditions in general were a breeze, so I highly recommend renting a car. -There is a little grocery store a short walk away from the resort, where we picked up beer and snacks. There is also a little store right across the road from the resort but the prices are more expensive and selection not as good vs the store down the road. All in all it was a great experience and we would definitely recommend this resort!
We stayed here for 5 nights while on Moorea and were quite pleased with this hotel. We had one of the hotel rooms attached to the main building (not an overwater bungalow) but we thought it was plenty nice and definitely worth the savings in price to us (we got to go inside the overwater bungalow and it was nicer - bigger room, maybe bigger tub, bigger bathroom, better view, etc. but we didn't think it was that much more amazing to be worth the expense). We enjoyed snorkeling around in the lagoon - there are surprisingly good fish right near the hotel with some nice corals. We also enjoyed using the free hour of paddle boards hanging out at the beach. The hotel location is super convenient if you want to dive also - Right next to (Essentially on) hotel grounds is the Top Dive site and they were great. We enjoyed walking around the beautiful grounds of the hotel, seeing the dolphins and turtles, and exploring everything the hotel had to offer. The food wasn't amazing but it was ok and probably better than a lot of small remote islands. Overall a good experience.
"Awesome Honeymoon Experience!!"
It was our honeymoon and we were greeted kindly upon check in. We were given an absolutely AWESOME room at the end of all the bungalows. Almost private, with an amazing panoramic view of the water and the mountains on Moorea. The coral below our bungalow attracted many fish, turtles and even a shark! It was a plesant and relaxing experience. It was so awesome to jump off our bungalow and go snorkeling with all the fish!! The hotel even provided mask and snorkel. The bed was not the most comfortable, but the view made up for it! The air conditioner was having a hard time keeping things cold as well, but seemed to catch up at night. The hotel staff was very accommodating and very nice to us during our entire stay. The food was great at both breakfast, the Buffett, and the poolside bar. My platinum elite status was recognized immediately and we felt like valued guests right away. We will be back to this resort again!!! We loved it!!
"Trip to relax"
Well my trip was just to relax get warm and forget about everything. It took forever to get here from the Northeast on the East Coast of the US but only seconds to forget how long it was. The room is a small suite with a relaxing living room a very comfortable king bed and a view of the ocean. Actually you're on the ocean. The walk to the main hotel building takes you right past the dolphin center where you can swim with them pet them and feed them. At the main building is the restaurants spa and shops. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The endless pool is totally relaxing and refreshing while sun bathing. Not sure if going home is an option now.
