Over Intercontinental Moorea

"This place is beautiful"
My husband and I stayed here on our 10 year anniversary trip and we loved it! The staff are wonderful and the place is beautiful. We were welcomed to our room with a gift and fresh pineapple. We would highly recommend this place
"Beautiful water villas"
Great place to start to get to know French Polinesia. The water villas here are very comfortable, charming and beautiful. Breakfast is really good and a wide variety to choose from. Gentle and nice staff
"Lovely resort but a bit isolated"
We stayed in a standard King hotel room and I thought the room was great. We were close to the pool, beach and restaurants. The property is large and some of the bungalows are almost 1/2 a mile away from the pool. I didn't mind it, but on nights when they are having the theme dinners (traditional singing and dancing) you won't escape the action as it will be loud and clear in your room. I expected this property to be close to at least a few restaurant and shops but this is really not the case. Yes, many restaurants will pick you up but we don't like to plan every step of our vacation and just see what we discover. There was nothing to discover within walking distance.
My wife and I have spent 3 days of our honeymoon there and it was simply an outstanding experience. We stayed in an overwater room (523) with direct access and view to the open sea. We saw the full moon rising and it was just stunning. There is a dolphin and turtles clinic so you can see a few of them inside the hotel. The food and the service are also good. May be they can improve a little bit the breakfast, but it is ok. From the excursions they provide we did the whale watching, and it was such a wonderful experience...as the one from the hotel was fully booked we did it with Deep Blue and it was reaaally good. They allowed us go snorkeling to see them twice. So we would definitely recommend the hotel to anybody who thinks about it. Now we are in Bora Bora at Sofitel Marara and just missing our days there.
"Great first impression of Tahiti"
Our first day in Tahiti was spent at IHG Moorea and it is amazing and gorgeous. Admittedly, we were exhausted and they do accommodate travelers who have had a long journey to arrive early in the morning and usually provide a quick room to change and shower. They also gave us a free brunch to enjoy. We are vegetarians and our choices were limited but we had plenty to eat and we love all of the local fruit. We had signed up with IHG in the past but had never stayed at one and the perks are worth the small membership access. Three highlights were they asked all new IHG visitors to have a reception with music and drinks. The staff is super everywhere in Tahiti but there seems to be a competition here on being amazingly accommodating and it is great. Being American with no real French language background is not an issue at all and you feel the Polynesian culture everywhere there blended with French culture. I loved it. We had a package deal with breakfast included and I would recommend that because finding restaurants out of the resort was more of a chore than you would imagine. It is a quieter side of the island and you can get shuttles and arrange for rides which everyone learns to do but there is not going to be a convenience store nearby to find less expensive items. It has so much to offer that is free once you are there and there are trade offs on amenities versus expensive drinks at the bar. We loved all of the cultural activities even though we did not sign up for them, we could sit in the bar and enjoy the music. We are impressed by the local music and singing so everywhere we went, it seemed to be alive and well. Wifi access and fresh spring water are the amenities we appreciated as members and we had the best over water bungalow with beautiful reef sharks visiting every morning in the glassy clear water. I am sure everyone we met enjoyed their accommodations and it is a wonderful spot to slow down. We did kick ourselves for not going sooner in our lives and met many young couple on their honeymoon. This was our 35th Anniversary and belated honeymoon and I am still enjoying the pictures.
