Over Intercontinental Moorea

This hotel was fantastic! Reception was good and very quick. We had a garden view room that was decorated beautifully, was comfortable and was a joy to stay in. It was super clean and everything worked perfectly. The bed was very comfortable. It also had a nice little patio with a table and chairs for enjoying the outdoors by the pool while sipping a drink and smoking a fine cigar! A good option for someone who cannot afford an over the water bungalow. We were not disappointed! Breakfast was very good with a good selection of foods, but not an abundant one, which was OK by us. Lunch and dinner were also good. They are a la carte and the menu is limited but everything we ate was well prepared and we had no issues. The grounds are lovely and well maintained. Pools are nice but not large. The water temperature was very nice...not shocking considering how hot we were when not in the water. The on site dive shop personnel were friendly and pleasant. They have a nice dive boat with plenty of room, although we were small groups going to dive. Unfortunately during our stay the seas were rough enough that we could not get out past the reef and had to dive solely in the lagoon, which was OK, but not great. Visibility was poor due to the weather and we didn't see much...some eagle rays were the highlight. All in all very nice. We only stayed for three nights and I wish it could have been longer.
"Bucket List / Moorea"
We had a jr bungalow suite with a pool. I SO recommend this!! We had #309 - we could see the lagoon from our private deck/pool. It was so nice after hanging out at the beach all day to jump into our pool :) The staff were friendly, but the pool bar appeared to need more wait staff. The gentleman that checked us into our room was amazingly nice and so very helpful (Bennett ??) ! We had a little shop at the top of the drive to pick up drinks/beer, but if you ask for a pick up to the little market to the right of the property, they have fresh bread and a better selection of snacks/drinks. Over all the stay was great :)
The resort itself is beautiful and clean. The water and views are breathtaking. Our luggage was lost and staff wasn't very helpful. I could pass on the breakfast buffet, flies all around. Our bungalow was a good size, great view but we had sand fleas or some little bug in our bathroom that we kept calling housekeeping about and they would come spray this awful stuff that would make us leave our room for at least an hour and the bugs would be gone for like 4/5 hours and then come back. Overall, I think that kinda ruined it for us, they weren't busy, I think we should have requested to switch rooms but no one offered :(
"Good location, large resort, disappointing rooms and food"
Prior to arriving at the Intercontinental in Moorea on this trip we had also stayed at the Pearl in Tahiti and Pearl in Bora Bora. Had we not previously stayed in Bora Bora, we may not have found this hotel as much of a let down. The hotel has good facilities and activities to keep all age groups amused for a couple of days, however, after that period of time it would be necessary to look further afield for things to do. The resort has nice gardens and lagoon, but not anywhere near as spectacular as Bora Bora. The hotel style rooms were a disappointment, the room was humid, somewhat unclean and we seemed to get bitten by small bugs constantly when in the room. The food on site was also very disappointing, the steak restaurant (Holy Steak) across the road from the hotel was a much better option (without it across the road, there would have been nowhere in the immediate vicinity where we would have been happy to get a meal. Overall, the hotel is ok for a few days, but does not meet 5 star expectations.
