"Nice rooms with some service issues"
The resort in nice, with large bungalows and well kept up landscaping. The food was fresh and tasty. But I had four issues with our stay. First, the service at the restaurant was sub par. We drank tap water instead of bottled water, and the wait staff couldn't be bothered to refill our glasses. One night it took over 30 minutes to get three scoops of sorbet. The wait staff didn't seem to be interested in taking care of their customers. Second, we had a bungalow that looked out into the bay/ocean. The view was nice, but the problem was there were boats and jet skis going by withing 30 feet of the deck all day long. It was very noisy and there was no sense of privacy as everyone stared at you as the zipped by. And they go by fast, unlike Bora Bora where they cut the engines as they come by the bungalows. Third, there was construction going on right outside our bungalow as the tore up the pavement and replaced it. Again, this was noisy and workers were hanging around outside our bungalow all day. Lastly, the dolphin experience is right in the center of the bungalows and it depressed us. The dolphin's area is small and shallow. You could just feel the sadness of the animals as you walked by them several times a day.
"Fabulous vacation in Moorea and Bora Bora"
To celebrate my husband's 50th birthday, we spent 10 days in French Polynesia. It was everything we could have hoped for. We booked through Tahiti.com which was a real pleasure and I would highly recommend them. I’m sure there are other ways to go about this but the assistance provided by Jaclyn Benson at Tahiti.com meant that we didn’t have to think about transfers between airports, ferries, boats and hotels. All we had to do was get to the airport and then switch off. We were met at each step of the way by friendly representatives who were looking out for us and efficiently moved us onto the next stage of our travel. We stayed 5 nights at the InterContinental Moorea Resort and Spa followed by 5 nights at the InterContinental Bora Bora Le Moana Resort. It was a treat to have over-water bungalows at both hotels and we made the most of having the water right below us. The snorkeling from our deck was excellent in both places although quite different. The food in the restaurants was good at both hotels and quite similar. We were keen to get outside of the hotel routine and used the free shuttles that many local restaurants provide to hotel guests. I would recommend this strongly. One shout-out goes to Restaurant Tiahura (Chez Irene) where we ate twice. The food was excellent, service was exceptional and very welcoming. While in Moorea we went on one excursion with Mako who took us on a small boat (about 12 of us) for some excellent snorkeling with stingrays and reef sharks followed by a good BBQ lunch on the beach. In Bora Bora, we did some more snorkeling through Pure Snorkeling (our guide was Manu) where we had a fabulous time and saw a manta ray, eagle rays, reef sharks and a multitude of fish. This time there were only 8 of us on the boat and we even got to experience the ocean outside of the reef. Overall, we loved our trip and would happily go back. The people were exceptionally friendly and willing to help. All the hotel staff were extremely pleasant and made our stay a pleasure.
"10 day getaway to Bora Bora"
the bungalows that are over the water are fantastic. They even have a glass-bottomed coffer table that lets you view the coral reef and all the fish from the comfort of your couch.meal plan was excellent French cuisine.
We recently stayed at the Intercontinental Moorea on our honeymoon and it was amazing. The staff are very helpful and the rooms are great! The only advice I can give is to leave the lights off in your room or you will come back to a bunch of lizards in your room!
"An amazing experience"
Our stay here was amazing. The snorkeling outside the hotel offers an enormous variety of tropical fish, so while we enjoyed our lagoon tour, you really can see so much right outside your door. The staff was always helpful and friendly. The concierge was especially attentive and made our stay worry free. The breakfast is wonderful, albeit expensive. Ours was included in our package so I wasn't worried about the cost. If you have the option to prepay breakfast, I would definitely do that. We stayed in a Lanai room. So, while we weren't right on the water, it is literally 50 feet away. I never regretted not spending the extra money for a beach bungalow. The pools and the hotel grounds are immaculately maintained. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. A few things on Mo'orea in general. First, the weather report showed rain every single day we were here and yet it only rained once. Since it's so warm, that didn't even bother us. We snorkled in the rain just as we would had it been sunny. Second, everything is expensive. It's probably best to just accept that fact and enjoy your stay. Third, take advantage of the excursions like the lagoon tours and safaris. They really help you get acquainted with the island and our guides were a lot of fun. Lastly, get up early and enjoy the sunrise, because after sunset, it gets very quiet and almost everything is closed.
