"Quaint, romantic, spectacular views, close to everything!"
This hotel is so quaint and charming! Our family absolutely enjoyed it. The service and staff are wonderfully accomodating. The food in the restaurant was so tasty and prepared in a very high-end and pleasant manner. Daniel in the yoga studio taught a very good class - we recommend. And, while the hotel is not immediately in town, it's location is very walkable to many things and it's a stunning walk. The location of this hotel is nice break from the main town.
"Highly Recommend this Hotel"
Based on other reviews and lots of research I settled on this hotel for our two night stay in Monteverde. I booked us a forest view room, however upon arrival we decided to upgrade to a Sunset View room -it was well worth the additional money. The views from this room were to die for. Each morning we had the hotel deliver coffee and tea so we could enjoy the morning view. The bar offers a happy hour of sorts from 4:30 PM - 5:30 PM which allows you to enjoy the nightly sunset. We had dinner at the restaurant our first night and the food was fabulous. The only negative I have to say is that we had minor plumbing issues with our toilet the first day, other than that this hotel is a great place to stay while in Monteverde.
"Spectacular views; wonderful accommodations"
Hotel Belmar is a gem in the mountains of Monteverde. It is a family owned operation and provides wonderful service to their guests. The restaurant is excellent, too. The rooms are modern, very comfortable, and spacious. Simply a beautiful place.
We booked this hotel on the strength of the tripadvisor reviews. We were not disappointed - in fact it was our favourite hotel in Costa Rica. The staff are exceptional. It really did have the feel of a lodge and we ate at the Celajes restaurant a lot because of the great food. Highly recommended despite the high winds and loss of power from the beginning of hurricane Otto.
"A slice of Paradise"
Soon as I arrived at this hotel, I could not stop smiling. The warm glow of the unpainted wood was a welcomed sight by a tired traveler. Getting from the town of Quepos to Monte Verde was a long 3hrs bus drive, but the ride up to this Cloud forest town was well worth it! Interbus charged only $54.00USD, compared to if you taxied it, - $250.00USD! I loved the warm look of the hotel's lobby and rooms and fell in love with their sustainable practices. The knowledgeable staff Dylan was kind enough to give me a mini tour explaining their go green practice. If you are going with your family, Take your kids to their farm. You can taste the freshness of their organic home grown produce. Their refreshing drinks are made of herb and flower infusions. Move over Sandals who put the flowers on my food for decorative purpose...why not make it part of my meal or drink?:-) One can go to bed without an AC, and if you choose to sleep with the door open save for the protective mesh, you can go to sleep hearing the sounds of the rain forest. Heaven! Their breakfast was filling, organic and healthy. In the nights, if you are heading to the little town, you may need a light sweater or wrap!! If you are going to do zip lining, I recommend doing it in this area of Costa Rica. Atop the trees is so peaceful, all I can think of, is I want to go to sleep and wake up to this sight everyday! The beds were clean, fresh and very very comfortable. Beautiful quality linens. Bathrooms were roomy and calming tasteful decor. Lastly and most importantly, the staff; I cannot say enough of the Concierge service rep - Diana, who assisted with so many things I need help with. She was patient, understanding and kind. Even when I was too busy to connect with her to reconfirm things, she went out of her way to call my hotel to make sure my transfer was in place for me the next day. Wow! Her English was good too! Lol. The last day, as I was leaving at 06:00 am for the airport, I ordered a boxed breakfast. I was so bowled over of how well informed everyone was, the moment they saw me downstairs, I saw staff scurried off to get the b/fast ready. 10 mins after, they had called the cab for me and was handing me a hot bagged b/fast all without me saying a word. I felt like family! This was such a beautiful feeling. I did not feel like a guest but like a caring bunch of family. One of the staff was even kind enough to pre purchase for me, my bus ticket, on her way in from work, as I did not want to chance not getting a ticket to the airport. Keep up the good works Belmar, I would definitely recommend your hotel and I, would also return. You kept a piece of my heart.
