"Highlight of our trip!"
Hotel Belmar, I love you! From the moment we entered the lobby (with its highly polished teak floors, walls and ceilings), we were captivated by the charm of this lodge. Every member of staff was attentive and helpful. The food was incredible. The grounds and it's views sublime. The hot tub relaxing. I wish I could go back and just chill there for a week.
"A precious place"
We visited Belmar as part of a family vacation and spent three nights there, with kids aged 6, 10 and 13. We were sad to leave so soon, but did it with very fond memories. It is one of the best places, we have stayed as a family. The room had a wonderful view over the mountains and valley, the food in the restaurant was delicious, fresh and varied, and the entire staff was very welcoming and made our stay personalised and effortless. We had several guided tours, including to the finca that the hotel operates as part of its admirable farm-to-table-concept, the cloud forests and a night hike in a nearby forest, all of them very enjoyable for all family members. The grounds and gardens around the hotel are also worth the exploration. With its clear attitudes towards sustainability, Belmar not only manages to be wonderful place to stay, but also to inspire its guests. That is no small accomplishment.
"Elegance in a Natural Forest Setting"
My granddaughter and I are traveling in Costa Rica and had the pleasure of staying here for two nights. The place has the feel and look of an elegant rustic lodge with highly polished wood floors and a very serene setting. Be aware there are hills and steps to climb. It is definitely not accessible, at least for the majority of areas. We saw wildlife (Coates, toucans and others) from our balcony and the restaurant. All food is grown or raised at their farm and they have served the best food by far. They offer yoga classes and some spa services. Coffee and tea is delivered to your room at your request at no charge. The showers have skylights and one side clear glass to the forest. The service is impeccable. They turn down the beds at night with a chocolate on the duvet. We had one minor problem with the shower and it was fixed within 20 minutes of reporting it to the front desk. Other than the lack of accessibility I can say nothing bad!!
"Unforgettable Hotel in the Clouds"
Wow! So, much good to say about my two days at Hotel Belmar that this will be a long post!!! From my very first call to the hotel when I spoke with Paula about the property, I knew it was going to be a wonderful experience! Paula answered all my questions and once I made my reservation she put me in contact with Diane Mahoney, the concierge at the hotel to assist me with our activity planning. The only way to describe Diane is extraordinary!! She and I corresponded back and forth for almost two weeks so that we could get just the right itinerary for our brief stay that would allow us to cover as much ground as possible. It truly was a pleasure to work with her and her attention to detail is incredible. Our first morning we went on the farm tour and Walter was our guide; he was very knowledgeable and friendly. I would highly recommend this tour - the farm is beautiful and very clean; the horseback ride was very nice thru the lush land; the snacks from the farm were delicious; we had the opportunity to milk cows; see how they grow coffee and where the eggs we had for breakfast came from! Herado and his wife who run the farm do a great job and you can tell how passionate they are about what they do. Next up, was the hanging bridge tour with our guide Fraser- he also was wonderful and we were able to see monkeys and owls with his keen eyes!!! The next morning before our departure my husband and son went zip lining at Aventura park for a major adrenaline rush!! While the did that I took a complimentary yoga class.....I am not a yoga person and it is always difficult for me not to watch the clock when I take a class...that is until last week when I took a class with Danielle.....it was amazing and lasted almost 2 hours and I didn't even want to to end!! If I could take his class every week, I think I could turn into a yogi!!!! Roland a was wonderful when we checked in - we were offered moist towels and a small juice from the juice bar. We were fortunate to stay in one of the newly opened suites and what a TREAT! The view; the shower; the outdoor hot tub and day bed...I didn't want to leave!!! The food in the restaurant is top notch!!! Breakfast on the outdoor terrace each morning was delicious...presentation amazing and so cool to know the food we were eating was from the farm we had just visited! We also had dinner there one evening and it was also delicious.....the staff is very accommodating; professional and friendly. I really can not recommended this Hotel enough...I would consider myself a hotel snob of sorts, as I love to stay in nice places when we travel and this truly was a one of a kind experience. I fell in love with Monteverde; the people; the vibe and this incredible hotel in the clouds!! I look forward to my next stay!! Thank You!
"Lovely and luxurious hotel at the top of the rain forest"
My father and I stayed a night at Hotel Belmar during his exploratory retirement trip to Costa Rica. After a long, dirt road and bumpy drive up the mountain you will come upon this luxury hotel at the top of Monteverde overlooking the rain forest. The hotel is a little outside from town, but well worth the trip. The hotel is in a gorgeous park-like setting with amazing views from all rooms. The staff was very professional, friendly, and hospitable. They also gave us great restaurant, sight-seeing, and adventure recommendations. Plus, the hotel has it’s only mini-brewery! Based on it’s very remote location, this is a first class establishment that surprised us both. Pura Vida!
