"Could be better ... mixed feeling"
The hotel is currently going under renovation so you will not enjoy a lobby / bar as you could expect. The room are nice , confortable. Breakfast is nice ( nice buffet , nice service) but the place is ... very sad ... looks like à seminar room ... gym is small but at my time ( 6:00am ) not that much people so ... it was ok . One morning a security guy step in the gym room when I was running ... and start to ask me why i took a bottle of water at the "help yourself" bar in the lobby without paying for it ! It was not true ! I took the bottle from my room ! It was a bit intrusive and not very friendly ... so ... Maybe I will return just to see how it looks after renovation ... because this hôtel is very well placed downtown...
This is a dated hotel that is usually cheaper than most hotels in downtown Denver area next to convention center. Sleep quality is average, breakfast selection is good but expensive. Very good choice if you are on a budget business travel.
"Construction causing problems"
I was initially disappointed upon getting to the "high class" hotel because of all of the construction being done. I was able to look past it as we got an early check in and headed to the room. -Before departing the lobby I asked about a safe and the check in clerk ensured me that there was a safe in the room. -Using the elevator was not easy because we needed to swipe the key to get above floor 12. The cards did not seem to transmit the signal. That problem was not just limited to us. most people had issues with this while on the elevator. -Get to the room and we were a bit underwhelmed to say the least. It was smaller than I would have EVER expected. In addition there was no safe. We left the room to catch a matinee and grab some lunch. We finished at about 3:30 and headed back to the hotel for a nap before going out again. About an hour into the nap... construction. It sounded like it was right outside the room. The construction was only scheduled Mon-Fri from 10 am - 6 pm. This was Saturday at 4:00 pm. The reason I rated this property average is Steve Hahm. I spoke Mr. Hahm and he moved our room and refunded that nights fees. That was fantastic customer service. The rest of the stay was below average as well. The new room had what looked like mold in the "remodeled" showers. The shower didn't drain very well. Breakfast was to crowded to sit down and eat. We left after one night.
Avoid during construction, premium price for less than premium facility. Stayed four nights during Colorado crossroads volleyball, they failed to honor contract price, among other issues. Fourth day, housekeeping accomplished at 9:30 pm after multiple calls and no response. Staff worked hard to overcome management issues. Disappointed.
"Better breakfast elsewhere "
Location is very convenient to the convention center where my daughter's volleyball tourney took place. Unfortunately, our IHG elite membership didn't mean much. We arrived early Thurs and could not check in, but saw other people after us get assigned a room (was told it was because they had a different room type). The breakfast buffet in their makeshift dining room is overpriced and is the same as what I get already included in the room rate at some other properties. I was disappointed that no one offered free or discounted dining as part of our membership. For a better value, try the Territory Kitchen and Bar one block over. Their price is less and includes made-to-order omlettes. The updated rooms have a very minimalist design -- our 'two doubles' room had no drawers, no seating beyond an office chair, and only two single towel hooks in the bathroom (one next to shower + one on back of the door). Many amenities are temporarily unavailable due to renovations happening now. Staff did their best to stay calm under fire with hundreds of volleyball families overtaking their hotel. The property has potential and will be physically better in a few months, but our recent stay was underwhelming.
