Over Glacier Park Lodge

"Oh, the Garden Cottage is the Place for me."

   08-04-2017
The train goes by. Wonderful location and a true piece of history, I cannt wait to get a discount so I can afford another stay! The lobby is grand the lawns expansive but dont forget to look in the woods on the right to see my fairytale cottage! No, the three bears were not there, but the cottage was oh-so just right!

"East Glacier Park Lodge"

   29-03-2017
East Glacier is our favorite fishing hole. While fishing at Two Med Lake, a lady stopped by and asked how the fishing was. I told her that fishing here is the BEST! "Look at the view. Can you find anything better?" I explained that "fishing" & "catching" were different and said that I had not caught anything yet, but before I could finish my sentence, I had a huge trout fighting on my line. You should have seen her eyes! Although we camped in our RV, we did check out the Lodge. What a surprise! Out in the middle of nowhere - a most beautiful, rustic Lodge, built to match the natural surroundings. I could describe it, but it's best to Google it and see the pics. This would be the perfect place for a romantic or vacation stay! Whether you're in Glacier to see glaciers, go fishing, or hiking, the Lodge is only minutes away, near Two Med Lake. As for the rooms, we heard that they need updating, especially they are in need of larger bathrooms. However, the Lodge sure beats sleeping in a tent or RV.

"State #17 in 50-State Quest"

   29-12-2016
This vacation was in August of 1991 not 2016. It was one of our top vacation spots in those 37 years. We did most National Parks as we hit all our states. But Glacier National Park is considered the best of all with my wife & myself. A lesser known than some of the others but most impressive that has stuck in our minds since our first journey there. I say the first is that this was one we not only hit twice but three times. Seldom does that happen for so many states to cover in a short time. As stated before when paths crossed in doing other states in different years we got the chance to bring back memories. You must see this one for our first time was by train. We got off the train one day stayed over night 2 days then got back on another train going the same direction. What sold us is that view you got of the lodge in getting off the train. Just a wonderful shot of the 1912 hotel not far away with flowers all around as it took you to your destination. This was our 17th state this year with 2 other states along with Canada. The lodge was built by the train owner to promote travel on his train. Maybe that is why it is right in the park and not hid away like in most cities. The other 2 times there were by car. With the last after completing the quest & retirement. The last one was in the winter with all the snow. But summertime is the best for viewing & taking pictures. A car rental is in walking distance on the other side of the tracks. You need to take a ride over the mountain going from east to west in that park. That keeps the sun at your back. Don't forget to bring a gallon or 2 so you can fill up from one of the waterfalls with the best water in the USA. Now lets talk about the best place to stay. Don't have enough time to do that but will highlight a few. The East Glacier Lodge is the best we stayed all 3 times there. But we did stay one night at Many- Glacier-Lodge on our 2nd trip. That one has a great view on it's lake. Both have good food & service. At the Glacier Lodge dinner time is the finest & the other meals are nice too. If they still have the Indian bread you will get so full that you may not be so hungry. Huckleberry is everywhere and you can take some home. We like the ice cream. At this lodge try to stay on the new wing that was built 2 years later. Good view from the side facing the 9 hole pitch & put. There is a large 18 hole course used in pro play in the back. There are no elevators so that is another reason to stay in the annex and on the ground floor that is really the 2nd floor. The insides are breathtaking with the log construction. Can't remember the price of the room or food but it doesn't matter we just had to stay & you will too. There are a few other places to stay in and out of the park they might be good but can't review those we haven't stayed at. You may stay a couple of days but don't be surprised if it's longer. So many places are rated 4 star but the real good ones are saved for a 5 star like this place.

"Outdated, but friendly staff."

   26-10-2016
A historical place for sure.........but very outdated. Rooms were very small and the bathroom was practically unusable, you couldnt turn around in the shower or bend down. Sink was right up against the shower door. Thank goodness it wasn't hot because there is no a/c - or TV. Nothing nearby. Too far from Glacier Park entrance. Wouldn't recommend more than 1 night stay. I do however want to say that the staff was very friendly.

"Lodge stay"

   10-10-2016
What can you say, this is one of the iconic Glacier Park lodges. The outside of the hotel and grounds are beautiful. The lobby is a cavernous, but still cozy with fireplaces roaring and puzzles/games on tables. There is interesting park and hotel history set up in the lobby. But the rooms are not worth $300/night. Our room was dark and so dated it was musty. The tiny bathroom is 50s Formica, the shower was terrible. To say the rooms need to be modernized is an understatement. You can old and charming yet still classic and updated. Won't stay here again.
