"Good option in Jackson"

   16-08-2017
We debated between staying at Jackson or Teton Village, eventually decided to stay in Jackson to recover after driving out of Yellowstone. Location is convenient to downtown shops and restaurant. Property is beautiful. We had a crrekside cabin, loved it. The evening was particularly beautiful with firepits along the creek Room was spacious, clean, bed was comfortable Breakfast was ok Two local restaurants we love: Snake River Grill and Gun Barrel (must try this, it's amazing) We also did white water rafting with Lewis & Clark Rafting Company: you can walk out of the property straight into the rafting company's parking lot!

"Lovely cabin overlooking the creek"

   16-08-2017
Rustic Inn is a pretty large collection of cabins, but we opted (with a bit of a gulp at the price) for a cabin on the creek and am so glad we did. Flat Creek is beautiful (we looked at it, and walked beside it, but some people took advantage of the tubes to float down it too) and sitting out on the deck in the morning watching the ducks, geese and a couple of friendly cats was a great way to start the day on the mornings we were't headed out somewhere else for sunrise. The double queen with a queen sofa bed worked well for our family of four, but the room is a little short of places to put things. The cabin has a small fridge for guest use and a coffee maker, but the lobby has vacuum pots of coffee with to-go cups available at all times (so I'd grab a cup on the way back to the room). Staff were very friendly although the housekeeping folks tended to rush (forgetting to provide spare toilet paper so we had to go get some; taking the soap - that was still usable - but not leaving any new bar). We didn't eat at the Inn's restaurant, but did have breakfast several mornings. The setup, given the number of people having breakfast, doesn't really flow well. The food is upstairs above the bar area and there aren't anything like enough tables to seat everyone. You can sit in the bar area and an outside (covered and heated) area, but those are downstairs and there are no trays or anything else to carry your bowls, plates, coffee cups, etc. They have cereals, fresh fruit, granola and some hot breakfast (eggs, bacon, sausage) items, plus toast, bagels and an uninspired selection of pastries and muffins. I tried a pastry and muffin on the first day but gave them a pass after that (too sweet, not tasty - something from a local bakery would have been much nicer). The cantina (tent on the hill) was a surprising hit for very tasty Mexican food. Carnitas quesadilla and fish tacos were both really good. The setting is pretty, but the service there is quirky - very friendly and personable, but forgetful (food given to the wrong table - both visits we went there). The waiter should write orders down and have numbers for the table if that's what it takes to get the right food to the right people. Small things that would improve the experience: Have a catch to allow the door to the deck to be kept open so the room can benefit from the lovely fresh air when you're "at home" - I used a bag that was heavy enough to hold the spring-loaded door, but that was awkward. More towel bars (for the used towels) in the bathroom - with four people in the cabin, two hooks on the back of the door aren't enough. Some table to put a laptop on where you can sit in the room to use it (outside on the deck was fine most of the time, but there were a couple of short rain showers and the tiny round table in the room wasn't a good place.

"Excellent choice"

   15-08-2017
We loved Rustic Inn -easy walk to downtown, clean rooms, and we all loved renting tubes and floating down the creek. Breakfast buffet was an unexpected bonus. We had one wheelchair bound family member, accessible room was good but the breakfast buffet was not accessible as well as part of the restaurant. So that was not so good.

"LIVING IN THE PAST"

   14-08-2017
We were booked into this hotel on our Globus "Exploring America's Great Parks" tour. We loved the hotel. We were a group of 18 and we could sit our on our deck, in our rocking chairs, and sip a gin and tonic and talk to our friends in the next door cabin who were doing the same thing. The rooms were lovely, quite retro but with quilts etc in a Native American design and the rest of the room decorated in quite dark colours to match. The result was great. The open verandah at the front of the hotel, near the road was very pretty with plants and gardens and conducive to relaxing. We had only one night here so can't comment on the service really although we were quite happy with everything. The hotel supplied a coach to take us to and from the town although the fitter ones found it an easy walk.

"Overrated place "

   14-08-2017
We reached the lodge after 13 hours of driving and we had to wait for a very long time at the restaurant before someone came to us. The rooms are comfortable but not cozy. The location is central in jackson which is good if you want to be close to downtown but not ideal if you re looking for a remote and nature area. The lodge is described as an oasis of calm but this is far from the nature and touristic.
