"Not worth the money!!!"
Let's start with the good. It was beautiful scenery that's it which is why I gave it 2 stars. When we got to the hotel at 6pm our room still wasn't ready so we went and had dinner at the restaurant at the hotel. Which was average and underwhelming for the price of almost $150. When we got back to the front desk our room still wasn't ready almost 2 hours later at 8pm after we'd been driving for 12 hours. They gave us another room so we went to take our stuff to find out the building was under construction and mud was all over the building lobby floor. We go to our room to find out the keys they gave us didn't work for our room, so we went back to the office again this is 3 times so far. I explained to the front desk that I didn't come to Yellowstone to be woken up by construction at the crack of dawn. So they moved us back to our original room. Finally after all this we go to our room to find something no better than a motel 6. Beds were awful. Coffee pot didn't work. Showers barely fit one person to comfortably wash or shave. There was no views. And keep in mind I paid $600.00 for 2 nights in this "premium queen suite". After one night my family decided we wouldn't stay another night it was a total joke. Not one person of staff offered help or compensation. And for being $300.00 a night I expected something just above average or at least a good view but we got nothing and will never come back. It left a bad taste in my mouth.
"Lodge within Yellowstone ;-(("
Let me begin with the positive: room was clean and the lodge is well located within Yellowstone to discover YNP. But that is it. Our remaining experience was not very good. The check in was a nightmare, especially if you arrive late afternoon; our Lodge named Fox was partially under construction. The room and also bathroom was very tiny. Accomodation was totally overpriced for what you get. But that seems to be the way it is if you own a monopoly for lodging in YNP. If you keep this in mind you can have a good time.
"Birthday trip "
Grant was close to everything but you NEED a car to get everywhere. Which was fine with us. Hotel was nice but a bit dated. But considering we were in the middle of a national park we thought it was perfect. We did many excursions so we didn't spend much time there anyways. Comfortable sleep and clean.
"Disconnect and enjoy nature from here!"
We stayed in Cabin number 4 and really enjoyed it. The whole thing tilted a little and added to the charm. We had our own bathroom with hot water and amazing deck where we watched dear and wildlife every night at sunset. It is located near to General Grant tree and you can walk to it about a quarter mile away, although you have to walk on the road some so driving is safer. The restaurant is being built, so bring your own food if possible. Get a cooler at Walmart for 15 bucks like we did. Very nice people working there, seems well managed. Stop at the visitor center on the way in to get park info. Buffet breakfast is decent and pricey, so again bring food. It is historic, and the decor shows it so have fun and don't expect fancy city digs. Internet is iffy so download google maps of the area before getting there. We enjoyed this place and would go back.
"Worth the money"
Since Yellowstone NP is so expansive we were so happy to stay here while in the park. The lodging at most national parks do not have TV or air conditioning, but depending on the time of year it's great with the windows open. Came in July and it was cool in the evenings. The lodging was very clean and the hotel even has cute little bear soaps. Worth the money!
