"Customer service saved this place"
We visited Yellowstone to see our son and booked 3 nights here. We cancelled after the first night. There was urine on the back of the toilet, dog hair in our shower, filthy bathroom floors, and a tiny blood stain on our sheet. The room is SMALL and expensive. I've stayed with this company before at Glacier and loved it. The customer service handled our complaint wonderfully and we were able to cancel plus free breakfast. Will not go back.
"Premium room was spacious and full of amenities"
Great place to stay if you are heading to Tetons as this is the farthest south you can get. Pricey, of course; Yellowstone has to make $$. The housekeeper left all the windows open so it wasn't stuffy and hot when we arrived. You get a fan to turn on, because AC isn't "green"; stupid, but then a lot of ideas are. Had a fridge so we could store food. There's no free Wifi in the park, but it's at least available at this location. $5 for an hour; $12 for the day. Comfy bathroom. If you're going to plunk for accommodations, go premium and be comfortable! I came to record video for my online classes, so got up early and saw the geology and animals before the crowds got going. COMFY beds and amenities. Be aware: no elevators, and no help (despite claims that there would be), so beware of being put on the 3rd floor if you travel with a lot of luggage!!
"Just the basics"
Going in we knew not to expect much from reading other reviews. We got just what we expected. The room wasn't very clean. There were cob webs, dust, and overall just not a clean experience. The one day I don't even think they cleaned the bathroom. I also think it's overpriced considering what you get (literally a room with a bed and bathroom, no TV or AC) but that's Yellowstone. The room served it's purpose..... A place to sleep.
"Enjoy the outdoors of Yellowstone, because you won’t want to spend time in your room"
One word to describe this location: “dormitoryâ€. Final word: you have no other choice, but to stay here. It is worse than people say. For the price of a room in Times Square New York, you get less room, and below the belt accommodations. This location is in “West Thumb Geyser Basinâ€, but you’ll have to drive to see any of the geysers. Yellowstone lake is nearby, but you can’t see it from your room. Grant Village Lodge is inside Yellowstone, but far from the main attractions. This is one place stay inside the park, and I cannot recommend it. We were lucky (demand is high, and you must book well in advance) to secure a room with two double beds that were crammed into a very small dormitory sized room with a table, two chairs, and a large open wardrobe with a mini-fridge. The problem is that once you bring your luggage in, for four people, you won’t have room to move around much, let alone use the table and chairs. My dorm room in college was larger, and I only had to share that room with one other person! Let’s compare this “hotelâ€, Grant Village (GV) with a modern hotel in a comparable setting: Fairfield Inn Boise, Id (FI), where we also stayed. Air conditioning: GV: No, FI: Yes. Elevator: GV: No, FI: Yes Approximate square footage: GV: 200, FI: 750 Breakfast Included: GV: No, FI: Yes TV in room: GV: No, FI: Yes Cost per night: GV: $301, FI: $87 Internet: GV: Expensive and slow, FI: Free and fast Bed Size: GV: Double (slightly bigger than a bookshelf), FI: Queen Idling tour busses to wake you at 7am: GV: Yes, FI: No Air Conditioning: GV: No, FI: Yes Ability to hear your neighbors through thin walls: GV: Yes, FI: No In all, it’s hard to describe how mediocre the rooms are. It is not really the rooms, which are actually adequate, but the discomfort you will feel staying at this location. It is far from the things you will want to see, it is old and worn and won’t feel comfortable. What other options do you have? Few. You could camp outside, where the threat of bears is real and dangerous, or you can try your luck outside the park, which is far away and probably not much better. One has to wonder who got the sweet money making deal? The management company is the only game in town and they certainly aren’t putting money back into the properties. The staff are hard working and probably underpaid.
"Not nearly as bad as people make it out to be!"
First, it is overpriced for what you get, but you're paying for convenience. Reading the reviews had me rather nervous about our stay at the Grant Village and I was quite relieved and happy with our experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. The rooms have been renovated and the amenities within the room were a nice touch. The bed was incredibly comfortable. The walls are a bit thin, but there are no TV's in the room and we had no issue with this aspect because it seemed that everyone was just as tired as we were after a day of exploring/hiking. I also really liked that this lodge was centrally located between Grand Teton and Yellowstone. We spent 3 days exploring each park so the convenience was nice! If you're looking for luxury, then perhaps the Old Faithful Inn is more your speed, but we weren't here for luxury, we were at the parks to experience the outdoors.
