"Good staff, well tended grounds, fairly happy but could be better."

Collected us from the airport without problem, complimentary cold towels and unlimited cold water in the car At check in time they assumed we were someone else so got the wrong paperwork out to complete. When the correct forms were completed they wanted a credit card as usual. It was only then that we were told there would be an credit charge of 2.5% for using Amex...no surcharge for Visa or MasterCard. I know it’s not unusual with Amex but I maintain we should have been warned previously. Room fine with a couple of exceptions-the varnished furniture was sticky to the touch. The shower floor is covered in loose stones. I have been to other places where this has been done and I am uncomfortable with this as I wonder just how clean the shower floor can be. I am sure all the stones are not removed and the area cleaned, (& the stones) thoroughly between each letting of the room. Small private beach area but the hotels beach boys exceptionally helpful and try very hard to please with sun beds and umbrellas moved to just where you want them. Lunchtime menu at the beach bar very limited unless you always want deep fried food. Food otherwise reasonably good with a wider choice in the evening. The major annoyance came when we asked if we could have a late check out - i.e. 8pm. Now the hotel was not anywhere near full but they charged us an additional 3000Bht for this late check out. When I baulked at this figure the female receptionist was very dismissive and said ‘you don’t have to take it, you can make use of a a shower but you need to book a time!’ That attitude does nothing to make me want to return. If the place was busy then it would be understandable that a late check out wasn’t possible but it wasn’t at all. The owners live in Singapore apparently so I guess they are unaware. If you found this report useful I would really appreciate a helpful vote. Thank you.

We booked a last minute 7 night stay here at The Sarojin, and we are so glad we did. The staff are brilliant and very friendly and helpful. The hotel is so peaceful and quiet we have been able just to relax and unwind without a care in the world. The breakfasts are great and go from 6-30 am until 6 pm so you don’t have to rush out of bed. The beach is clean and 2 minutes walk tthrough the grounds as soon as you get the the staff are setting up beds for you and giving you a glass of iced water. Same at the pool. It was my birthday during our stay and I got a surprise at breakfast from 5he staff and happy birthday messages on my bed at turn down. Each staff member I walked past that day wished me happy birthday. The staff really try to get to know their guests. It like a little family. To make a good hotel a great hotel it not about doing the big things well, that’s a given, it doing the little things better. The Sarojin do these little things a whole lot better. We had a private dining experience at the Sarojin but because of the rain we couldn’t have it on the beach so a little fisherman’s hut was set up for us. There were candles all around which made the setting very romantic. We had our own waiter and chef. The food was out of this world. We have eaten at the hotel on three occasions and I must admit it has been the best food I have tasted. I would go as far as to say that they were among the best meals I have had. It is definitely on our our list for a return visit. Sometime really soon I hope.

Had the most wonderful holiday in the most super hotel. The food, quality of room, staff and beauty of the place was outstanding. What ever you wanted they got for you. Evan at breakfast time they remembered what you like to drink eat and your names after the first day. How do they do it. We did not have time to write in there book on the last day, but hope to go back again. A lovely quiet touch of paradise.

"Hard to beat "

Stayed at the Sarojin the first week of September , ok it was the rainy season, but we did ok. First three day were sunny all day, next four mixed. Yes it rained mid afternoon, but nobody cared . You still get wet in the pool. We went on the waterfall diner, well what can I say, yes it's expensive but worth every penny. They go to do much detail to make this the most romantic meal you will ever have. With it been the rainy season the waterfall is in full flow and when you sit at your table and they flick the switch to the flood light that lights the fall it takes your breath away. We also did the elephant trek, another thing that is a must . After you have ridden the elephant in the jungle and back you get a chance to bathe and wash your elephant , magical ! Everybody always mentions the all day breakfast and so they should, what a great concept. Any time and as much as you can eat. The staff always greet you with a smile, even the security staff salute you ! Come again ! In a heart beat. This hotel is up there with the best and I have stayed in a few.

"A little corner of paradise"

The minute you arrive at the Sarojin, you are immediately charmed by its settings. It is simply b-e-a-u-t-i-f-u-l and so relaxing. The service is second to none, nothing is too much trouble. With your room comes a complimentary spar treatment which I thoroughly recommend. You come out so relaxed, you can barely stand let alone walk. The rooms are very spacious and open, beautifully decorated with a quiet but efficient air conditioning which you can leave on all day (no headache here about using a card for opening your room as well as having the electricity on, they are using a good old fashioned key). The only thing that takes a while to get used to is no toilet paper to be flushed down the loo; there are bins in every toilets instead. With only 46 rooms, the Sarolin is a boutique hotel mainly aimed at honeymooners and families with perhaps older children giving a very peaceful and tranquil atmosphere. What makes the Sarojin different to the majority of other places is the all day breakfast, giving you no pressure whatsoever to get up early just because you don't want to miss it. The breakfast is actually served between 6:00am and 6pm. Despite the menu being exhaustive, being either a cooked breakfast, continental or Thai, you are also very welcome to work off the menu and come up with your own creation. If they can do it for you, they will! You can also have dinner there, the cuisine tends to be a bit more European but if you would like to sample more local cuisine, there is another restaurant, by the beach, where the food is out of this world. Keep an eye out for theme evenings such as BBQ nights where, for a fixed price, you can try most of the dishes on the menu (and there are loads) for as much as you can eat. If you want to cut cost, you are only 20 minutes away from the nearest town by car where you can eat cheaply. We loved the Sarojin so much that we ate there all the time but be warned, it is not cheap. You are probably looking at £100 a day for a family of 4. Hence why I did not give the full mark. The other criticism I had was over the safety aspect on the beach. I decided to go out on a kayak and I was surprised that no-one offered me a life jacket nor a helmet despite the safety note on the actual kayak itself. Staying on the topic of activities, you can hire bikes, completely free of charge and explore the beautiful lush Thai countryside. The waterfalls, at about 20 minutes bike ride away from the Sarojin, is highly recommended. A map is attached to each bike and you are given a cold bottle of water each. There is also a small gym and a computer room. If you travel with your own devices, there is wifi everywhere. The Sarojin was sadly devastated by the Tsunami 10 days before the grand opening on Boxing Day in 2004. It took a further 12 months to rebuild it. As a thank you to all the staff who helped at the time, each room was called after their name with their picture on the wall. Fortunately when The tsunami stroke, the hotel was empty as everyone was enjoying their Xmas with their family so the human loss was minimal. 12 years on and the Sarojin really is a little corner of paradise. Go on treat yourself, you won't regret it!
