"Best beach"

The best beach great people rooms are fantastic it's our 7th time in the villas and we will be going back , we had lobster and steak every day food in the villas is the best along the premium boo we .Love this place

"Another Great Visit"

This was our second visit to this resort having been there 4 years ago. We had a great visit last time and found some changes since then. Playa Ensenachos was busier and the service has improved. It is still the nicest beach of the several we have been to in Cuba. Bar service to your chairs was excellent. We did not go to Playa Megano at all as we prefer Ensenachos. The last time we stayed at the SPA section and this time the Park Suites. Rooms at both were excellent with great service by the camarera and the person stocking the fridge. The biggest difference was in the influx of children to this resort so if that is an issue for you stay at the SPA side as they don't have access to the SPA pool. which is gorgeous.. If there is a more beautiful well maintained property in Cuba I haven;t seen it yet.. Those who maintain the gardens and property deserve credit for a wonderful job. There is obvious pride in their work. It is simply gorgeous. If you are a bird lover like we are you will love this place. You can see new birds throughout the resort plus sit on your room balcony and get great photos. We even saw an aguana. The food was good the last time we were here and has improved. Service by staff is superior to other resorts and the management is very obvious by their numbers and visibility. We had no issues and if you remember their culture differs from others in some respects you can accept the things that may bother you. They had a piano player named Sandra who we had seen previously at another resort in Cayo Santa Maria. Unfortunately she only played 2 nights but was wonderful and very talented. Thanks to the pleasant staff and management. I should add that I saw NO cats which was great (for us).

"We wanted to love it, not impressed with service options...go for the beach if okay without natural shade"

So I should say we were here for a close family friend's wedding which was very pretty. It was held at the spa area as it rained the day of the wedding and it could not take place at the beach as was originally planned. My mom suggested this place to the bride because she has traveled around to other places and enjoyed Iberostar during past trips. My husband and I got married at the Melia Las Dunas in 2010 and my girlfriend liked our wedding so much she wanted to do a destination wedding as well. She had a private reception dinner at the pool snack bar, with fillet mignon dinner which was very good though a bit hard to cut with butter knife. Things we loved about this place: -Nice lush gardens and grounds, pool area, nice kid pool section and kids club -Amaising soft sand and crystal clear water at both beaches, PERFECT for kids as no waves and shallow. We preffered the Ensenachos beach, it is perfect though no natural shade (at either beach like in Holguin) and no grill restaurant at Ensenachos, though there is a burger/hotdog hut that I was told should run everyday. My 21 month old was like a fish she loved the beach - this was the first place she enjoyed going into the ocean! Most of the week we were at the Megano beach since it was much closer to the family section, we stayed in block 42 which was close to Megano beach and kids pool. Great location. -Great water pressure in the shower and always HOT water. Seems this place NEVER runs out of hot water. Nice bathrooms. -Nice open-air beach grill with fresh prepared fish fillets, buffet: fries, burgers, sausage pieces, fried cabbage, fresh fruit and veggie selection -FOOD selection at main buffet I found pretty good actually. I am not picky and really enjoyed the smoked salmon, calamari, cheeses, fresh and cooked veggies, and freshly prepared eggs with papaya in the morning. There were three stations where you can get food freshly made, hey if the line is longer so what, you don't have to make it, clean after... you are on vacation, what's the hurry? Better to wait and have freshly prepped dishes. We only tried the medditerenean restaurant. Lobster there was good. Things which were not awesome and frustrating: -NO information/map anywhere. Maybe we were unlucky, the hotel was full. We were not provided a map upon arrival and there were no signs on hours etc. for events like buffet times etc. -Weird traffic sounds throughout the day -was this the highway noise or buses?? Not sure. Heard this very clearly when out on the terrace. Not really annoying but there nonetheless. -Disco closed at 11 pm (earliest I've ever heard of!) Usually not something we care about but for the wedding would have been nice to dance a bit longer after wedding reception. We had to cut our party short at 10:30 pm. -MISINFORMATION between staff. Ask same question to 4 staff members and get four different answers. -Strong mildew smell in room (we were in 4208). -NOT a 24 hour place. We wanted juice and food outside of buffet hours for the kiddos as we missed the lunch time period one day due to no food at the Ensenachos beach (the burger hut guy did not come into work that day for some reason). We were turned away from main buffet and asked to go to the beach, dragged all our stuff and starving crying kids to the beach grill buffet to be also (quite rudely) turned away even though the food was still out. One of the servers felt bad and gave us a handful of french fries in a napkin. It was crazy, you want a drink after 1 am, can't get one. You want a snack, can't get one. The management seemed very strict about these times. IF you like 24 hour service of any sort FORGET THIS PLACE. It is very quiet. Not a whole lot of animation or things to do though we found the Ensenachos beach much more alive with music and valleyball in the morning. We later found out there is a small selection of buffet items at the main buffet from 11 pm to 2 am. Basically you eat in the dim light/ dark at the main buffet and we had no clue this place was open because it looked closed, but it was a nice surprise. Not a big selection but good for a snack. -Apparently you have room service available from 9 am to 11 pm as well with list of items in your room but we did not have this information in our room. -We disliked the closed concept of the MAIN BUFFET restaurant. It is VERY NOISY and seemed too small for the amount of people at the hotel. The sound just amplifies in there and it is hard to hear or talk at your table even. There is a small outdoor terrace just outside where it was much more peaceful (I really like open air buffet concepts so that was something that bugged me). -Friend could not book a band for her wedding (only a DJ was available which she took... at MLD we had a band which was amaising at our dinner reception). Also, like I mentioned we had no place to go after the 10:30 pm time slot at the snack bar to keep dancing. Out of control items: -Weather for the most part sucked (we were there April 17-23 2017). Very windy most days (on the beach) and rained all day for half our stay. If you like cooler weather 24-26 C, with cooler breeze then this is the perfect place. One day I had to go inside and take an hour hot bath I was so cold (it rained and was super windy that day, and I stayed at the pool too which was not usually windy). However we like it HOT and found it cool/ cold here most of the week if cloudy/raining. We got unlucky. Worst weather ever unfortunately. For our wedding though, it was also very windy at the beach in April, so keep that in mind if you like HEAT. Even when the sun was out, the wind made it cool at the beach. I'm sure in May - September it is nice and hot but in April its hit and miss.

"The beaches are beautiful but other areas need work"

Just returned from the Iberostar Ensenachos. I have travelled to a fair amount of resorts both in Cuba and around the Caribbean so can give an honest assessment. We stayed in the adults only spa section in building 20 which is a perfect building location! The good The beaches are beautiful! White sand, turquoise clear water. The weather wasn't great while we were there but we enjoyed the sun when it made an appearance. The resort has two beaches. Both are lovely and you should see both if you are there. The Megano beach has full services ( bar and restaurant) but the Ensenachos is more remote and does have a small beach bar and a BBQ that is hit or miss if the chef shows up or not. There are plenty of shelters on both beaches and someone on the beach to help you get a chair and set it up for you. These people work hard and a peso or two tip goes a long way for them so show your appreciation. The pool ( I only stayed at the spa adults only pool ) and it was lovely. Again with a swim up bar and restaurant for lunch. The two Albertos are there to get you cushions and get you set up. They have been there for 15 years and know many of the returning guests personally. They always have a smile for you and a big Hola ! The a la carte restaurants we went to were all very good. We visited the Italian, Asian and Mediterranean restaurants. The Italian was fabulous. Make sure to try the tomato soup with your meal. The bad The accommodations are starting to show their age. The beds are rock hard! We heard several people using the two duvets that are provided as cushioning to soften the mattress. There is one bar that serves both the bar, theatre and lobby. The bartenders spend most of their time trying to fill orders for the wait staff serving in the lobby. We often had to wait for 5 minutes just to get served. They should have staff for the bar patrons and others to help fill the lobby orders. The buffet food was generally cold and offered little selection. The two areas where food was being freshly prepared was lined up for 15 to 20 minutes to get food. The breakfast prep for omelettes again was lined up and the chef was mixing ingredients for the omelettes using the same bowl over and over mixing meat products and vegetables. The wait staff try hard to keep tables turned over for guests but you are often in search for a table to sit at and have to sit at a dirty table until someone comes along to clean it. There are very few Shops in the resort. Only one small overpriced shop but if you want souvenirs you have to get them here because the airport has nothing. Internet cards have to be purchased for $1.50 which gives you 1 hour of internet but if you are too far from the modem ( at the check not desk) you won't connect. As well during peak times ( evenings) the server is overloaded and getting a connection is impossible. All in all the beaches and the staff make up for the short comings of the resort. Saying in the spa section is worthwhile if you are traveling without children.

"Good hotel, nice people, amazing beaches"

This is a nice hotel, and the staff is great. The two beaches are amazing! We especially enjoyed walking to the sunken boat during low tide. Thank you Milay and Yuri from the main restaurant, you have been great! The only negative is the fact that the hotel is almost 2 hours away by bus from the airport. A personal pet peeve - the painting job in the washroom is terrible. You can see where the roll with paint for ceiling hit the walls. Drops of paint from walls are on the floor and electrical outlets. Hair from brushes is stuck on painting by the mirror. This is a five star hotel, the attention to details makes the difference and shows that the management cares about guests. It's a pity to see such shoddy work given how much attention is evident everywhere else in the hotel. Overall we enjoyed our vacation.
