We have stayed at Blue Waters several times though not for some time. The updated has been well done and they now have a swimming pool. The food too has been improved in the evening though we didn't eat there in the day. My husband became ill whilst we were there and they were absolutely brilliant at supporting us when. They were also amazingly kind at unscrambling the rest of our holiday for us and making a new reservation for me closer to the hospital. They couldn't have been kinder to us and helped support us through a very difficult time.

I can't agree more with the other reviews about this place. The setting is absolutely stunning. It's a peaceful, beautiful getaway...But the service is awful. With a few minor tweaks this could be a little gem of a hotel in Tobago.We had a wonderful holiday there but below are a few comments which amount to frustrations really, because they could be so easily rectified. Ok, so here's the detail... The bay, Batteaux Bay is unspolt and clean. The beach is sandy and, although there's a bit of a drop off, we generally felt that swimming off the beach was safe. One day the wind got up and there was a bit of a swell and a few waves but nothing to spoil our day. We took the glass bottom boat tour to Goat island and Little Tobago and I have to say we were both shocked at the state of the reef. I have a PADI qualification and my husband has also dived in various countries. Given that so much was made of diving at this resort ( and was one of the reasons why we chose it) the quality of diving was poor, at best. Most of the reef was dead and uniform brown - almost devoid of colour. Much of the coral was damaged including the largest brain coral in the world (which the guide told us the fish had eaten!!!!)-The relentless tourist traffic and lack of foresight on the part of the various tour operators taking their boats out 3-4 times a day - casting anchor on the reef rather than in deeper water has taken it's toll. The jetty on Little Tobago was completely unsafe and it's only a matter of time before someone injures themselves, either on the jetty or falling between the boat and the jetty. There were lots of fish to see but don't expect much of a reef. Completely unmentioned in the brochure, and by the tour boat operators, is that there are turtles swimming off the beach right in front of the hotel. We spent a delightful couple of days capturing footage of them with a snorkel and a go-pro (which was completely free...hmmmm I wonder why they didn't mention this.) The rooms at the hotel are good, clean and basic. We were given an incorrect room initially but went and asked at the office who found us another room. The office staff were polite but not friendly. We felt as though we were intruding when we asked for pool towels. There was no-one manning the poolside bar, nor did anyone offer drinks service by the pool ( except once whilst we were chatting to the lovely head chef, who went and got us drinks himself.) We mention this because this is a 4*'boutique'hotel, not because we wanted loads of drinks by the pool, but to be offered would have been nice. Meals were fine, a little too Westernised if that's the phrase - We'd rather have had more of a local twist on the food on the menu rather than nachos and Caesar salad. Evening meals were fine but again, could have been more appropriate to the local cuisine. The entire dining experience could have been made about 200% better by waiting and bar staff who were not surly. There were exceptions - We saw that Erica was mentioned in a previous review and we'd agree - she was delightful - we'd also include Oswin behind the bar and Arvion. But the rest of the staff need some lessons in customer care or at least smile occasionally.The drift deck restaurant was, in reality, the only restaurant. The Aqua restaurant was never 'open' to guests and indeed on two nights it was blocked off as the owners of the hotel were in there with various members of staff. The games room was well stocked and although there weren't many kids there, my 13 year old son was happy. The tennis court was unusable as such. Tours and taxis from the hotel were surprisingly expensive, as were local restaurants. We have traveled a great deal, both on business and for leisure and there's only one thing that separates a good hotel from a great hotel and that's service. As i said, it didn't spoil our holiday but it could have been so much better.

Blue Waters Inn was wonderful as usual... After graduating in June 2016 my cousin and I came for a few days... Our stay was wonderful and I promised myself and hubby that we have to experience this together.. Fast Forward to Feb 13th 2017 My hubby and I made a spontaneous decision to getaway from the brunt of winter... We felt like we were in paradise/ Heaven on earth.. Priceless.. Cant wait to get back. Would be nice to get a discount on our stay, since we plan to return many times and tell all who would listen...Thank you to the staff of Blue Waters Inn..💖

Did the glass bottom boat tour from the hotel (well worth doing !) and decided to stay for lunch as such a pretty location. Bar & waitress staff could do with a bit of customer service training ; barman gave me sour looks when I asked for 2 coffees mid morning (and then after an eternal wait, bought out 3 from the kitchen). Asked the waitress for the lunch menus and was told to go and get them from the bar area - when I asked if we needed go and order at the bar (assuming it wasn't going to be done by her either), she sounded surprised and said no she would come over !?. The food & drinks ordering was a fairly slow process....so don't expect to eat quickly though there were only a couple of occupied tables when we ordered. Food was nicely presented when it came, and there was plenty of choice on the menu though a couple of items they were out of (do have a back up order, even for drinks, as the vanilla milkshake was off the menu today). We had sever different types of sandwiches between our group of 3 people, and they were all very tasty, and came with fries. Prices were to be as expected for this location a couple of coffees, water and 2 beers and three sandwiches TT$420. However worth it for the view and the portion size was good. So only complaint really is the service, rather than anything else. The location is quite stunning and the place looked well kept. Pool was small but was well maintained. We were impressed, and would definitely think about spending at least a couple of nights up here next time we visit......but possibly not longer as there's not enough for a full week to keep you occupied IMO, and its a winding "endless" road back to the airport area (1.5 hours), .....unless you genuinely just want to do nothing ! Not really a family resort - more Llandudno, than Blackpool, but no bad thing if you are of a certain age and/or appreciate stunning views.

Our holiday was a tale of two halves – The first half Saturday evening through to Wednesday morning was not too good at all and we were looking forward to going home. But all that changed on Wednesday (half way through our holiday) when Erika greeted us with a lovely smile at breakfast on the Wednesday morning. Our holiday was immediately turned around as soon as Erika started being nice and friendly towards us. Erika is an asset to the hotel and should in our opinion be in a position of more responsibility - like in reception or even management. Erika made our holiday enjoyable. The attitude of the staff can have a huge influence on guests’ enjoyment of their time in the resort. We still had the various niggles about the hotel but after her attitude at least it appeared to be a more friendly place after Wednesday and we left the following Saturday in a happier frame of mind all because of Erika. We have several friends and family members who like beach based holidays and we left with a better impression after the second half of our holiday and so more likely to recommend the resort. That was all down to Erika. The position of the hotel on a secluded bay is lovely. Beautiful scenery and very peaceful most of the time. The sea can get a bit choppy for swimming at times but it is lovely to hear and see the waves. I shall mention the bad bits in the hope that the hotel will take note as this could become a magical place with a few tweaks. It might sound like a list of moans but I am being truthful and actually hoping the hotel can make improvements to make it a nicer place to holiday at. I didn’t see the point of saying everything was wonderful when it can be useful for future guests to know the good and bad about the place. I thought that was the whole point about tripadvisor comments. The thing we were annoyed about most was the non existent sea view from our balcony. We were extremely disappointed by the non existent “sea view” from the balcony in room. We had paid for an ocean view and they claim all rooms are, but some, like room32, have huge trees in front of the balcony. This was extremely annoying as the large tree completely blocked our view. We had informed the hotel that this holiday was for our anniversary and also for my husbands birthday and we had emailed them before we arrived enquiring about a number of things including the view from our balcony. We had read on trip advisor about trees obstructing views and put that to them. We were informed by reception before we arrived that we did have a sea view. However we did not. We had also mentioned to reception several times, plus it was noted on our booking by the travel agent, that this holiday was for a very special anniversary but that was totally forgotten. Erika arranged for a complimentary glass of wine for us the day after when we told her that it had been forgotten. It doesn’t take much to make guests happy and it is precisely this kind of attitude that makes the difference between us recommending the hotel to our numerous friends and family or not doing so. However what was even more annoying was when people arrived to go off on various trips at 10am, 1030 and 2pm that they are told by the trip people to “make themselves at home” and to use the facilities like the toilet, pool area and bar. These visitting trip people can make it very unpleasant for the actual hotel guests sitting around the pool area or having a late breakfast. Depending on how many people are on the various trips they can dominant the pool area. Some trip guests in a group of at least 10 non hotel guests even smoked whilst we were having breakfast and with the strong breeze it blew all over us eating our breakfast in the restaurant. Plus they were very loud around the pool area. It would be far better to take guests arriving for trips who aren’t hotel guests to the diving hut. That is at the boat docking end where the trips depart from anyway and the diving hut has some chairs and tables there. Unfortunately some people were hanging around the pool area for sometimes 45mins before their trip time. Some even went for a swim in the pool and laid on sunbeds making the pool area unnecessarily crowded with non hotel guests. The only set of toilets near the pool area were often used for these trip guests to get changed in and so the toilets were occupied when we as hotel guests wanted to use those facilities. Plus the toilets could become quite messy. Plus it generally isn’t very nice as a hotel guest to be sunbathing in your costume and having several fully clothed people “hanging around” for up to 45 mins on occasions waiting to go on their trips. Apart from the 10am, 1030am and 2pm trip times the pool area was very nice. There were some other room issues like there was no blind on the ceiling window in room 32 so we were awoken every morning with sunlight streaming onto our faces at around 6am. There should be a blind on that window. The safe didn’t work all week in room 32 and when eventually a handyman did arrive to attempt to change the battery, we were told that it wasn’t a battery problem and that a new safe needed to be ordered. We had chased reception for days before a handyman was eventually called. We ended up having no safe all week and I dare say room 32 still doesn’t have a working safe now! The Shower was very very slow to drain away and got to be a few inches deep some mornings. This made it a bit slippery getting in and out. We had no hand towel left one morning and reception couldn't get one delivered No Extra pillow was supplied despite my frequent requests for one via reception There is also absolutely no evening entertainment. We were told there was supposed to be a steel band for Friday night and then that was revised to a single man playing the steel drums. But in the end there was nothing, not even on the Friday evening as we had been informed by hotel literature. That was disappointing as the hotel is dead in the evening and could do with some light evening entertainment once or twice a week. Everyone just tends to eat their meal and go to bed as there is nothing to watch or listen to. There is music playing in the bar area on CDs or something but the speakers in the dining room are broken and so you cannot hear that unless you sit right close to the bar. Plastic bottles were washed up onto the beach at the boat docking end. Infact the boat docking end can be messy at times when yje sea is choppy but we learnt to avoid that end. I am not sure if people clean the beach or not, but we swam away from that end after having 3 plastic bottles and other debris wash around our feet as we walked along in the sea. Room 32 is at that end. Infact the majority of rooms are at the boat docking end. I think perhaps someone did pick up some of the bottles towards the end of the week. You have to arrive for breakfast early as things tend to get finished like fruit and pastries. Plus of course you have the trip people walking through the restaurant to reach the bar area and hanging around the pool area. The visiting trip people are encouraged to do so by the trip organisers. The lunch and dinner menu remains the same. There needs to be some change with it as staying any longer than a week would definitely make it very difficult to find something to eat. Plus more local dishes would be good. Only a few tweaks could transform this place entirely. There isn’t much to do here but if you wanted a quiet, peaceful holiday and you managed to avoid the trip people coming in from outside the hotel, this could then be a very relaxing break. I have attached a photo as I promised Erika I would do so and to show the lovely pool area and non docking end of the beach. This may seem like a negative review but if I was going to write one then I was going to write my honest opinions. It is just disappointing that the hotel fell short because of things that can be so easily rectified.
