"A Fabulous Holiday"

This was my first visit following my husband's death and I went with a friend. Although I have had many holidays here - this was the 15th - I am always thrilled with Coco Reef and somehow this was even more special. The warmth of the welcome by so many staff and the numerous familiar faces made this an extra special trip for me. Eric the manager and his capable assistant Esther and their team did everything they could think of to give us the perfect holiday. Nothing was too much trouble and any special requests were all instantly arranged. There have been numerous upgrades since my last visit including new and more efficient air con units, hairdryers and safes added to the rooms. Other than that our rooms were much the same and the beds very comfortable. The showers were excellent. One slight criticism was the lack of light in the room but that was soon rectified. The room was clean and the housekeeping department kept us relatively free of the inevitable sand from the beach....! The restaurant continues to delight and the chef produces wonderful meals and sensational daily souffles which I love so much. The restaurant staff deserve a special mention especially Mellisia, Alicia, Janille, Preston, Curtain and Gary and they were joined by several newcomers including Christine and Antonia who with their lovely personalities and warm smiles are carrying on the well-established Coco Reef traditions and interaction with guests. The reception team including Elizabeth, Kevin and Kern and Janelle who organised our memorable trip to Trinidad all deserve recognition.Thank you all for your part in our holiday and thanks to the many others who cared for us constantly. Unfortunately there were fewer fish than i can remember in past years - hopefully these will come back if they are not being fished out by local fishermen!! Some fish will still come and take food hand fed to them which is very special. The beach and location of this hotel just cannot be beaten and the safe bathing attracts so many guests and young families. Snorkeling and diving from this beach are a joy. The evening entertainment was quite mixed and some singers were outstanding - others less so and seemed to be singing for their own benefit! One thing which would be nice is if they sang more songs which were familiar rather than songs for themselves. Perhaps the odd familiar calypso would be appreciated especially from the pan player - 'Island in the Sun' springs to mind. If you don't like loud music from nearby beaches avoid going at Carnival time! Personally I enjoy the energy around Carnival and can live with the loud neighbours!. So, in summary, my heartfelt thanks for another amazing stay. This is not a plastic multinational hotel like those you can find in every large city. This is a special place, perhaps slightly 'faded Colonial' in style but for all that it is a place which cares about its guests and provides a very special place for all those who 'get it'. Don't try and judge it against other places because it is a 'one-off' and will get under your skin if you allow it. Have as many wonderful holidays at Coco Reef as I have.....!

"Quaint beach resort"

Having travelled extensively in the Caribbean, we were surprised at the lack of 5 star luxury hotels in Tobago. We chose Coco Reef as the first of three hotels we'd in stay in our two week break here, due to it's proximity to the airport - no noise from planes though due to the prevailing wind. We received a warm welcome to this rather quaint, rather outdated in style, hotel. The lobby area is bright and airy, seating both in and outdoors & we particularly loved the verandah upstairs for pre dinner drinks. Our de luxe sea view room was large & clean, nice patio overlooking the sea. The bathroom needs renovating but is functional - a lack of hot water was quickly fixed. Lots of sun beds on the beach, and the lagoon is perfect for refreshing swims & snorkelling. Only the main restaurant open for dinner, the beach restaurant opened for lunch. The food was ok, nothing more. This staff are friendly and polite. Some basic housekeeping needs to be done - towels replaced, new cloths on the tables at the beachfront (many have holes), & both the parasols there & on the beach need repairing. We did find the obsequenous of the staff to returning guests rather irritating, especially when staff were kept talking while we were waiting to place drink or food orders, and preference was given for certain table reservations. Whilst we enjoyed the location of the hotel for it's proximity to shops, restaurants & Pigeon Point, be warned that the noise from nearby bars is close to intolerable at times, especially in the lead up to Carnival. The hotel are trying to communicate with the authorities regarding this but I feel that there should be a warning on their website. The lovely lady who organises trips (sorry, can't remember her name!) was very helpful, organising a super friendly & helpful taxi driver for our trip to Scarborough (he insisted on driving us to Fort George, very glad he did as it's up a steep hill) then dropping us at the botanical gardens. Pigeon Point is walkable from the hotel. Wifi is very poor.

"Our 2 weeks in Paradise!"

1 word - Wonderful. 2 words - So relaxing. 3 words - We love it!!! A very big thank you to Eric & all his amazing staff at Coco Reef - our 4th visit & it just gets better every time. Hopefully - we will return in 2019! Take a bow all of you - a great place to relax, unwind & enjoy. Our very best wishes everyone, Stephen P & Karen.

"Private beach front"

Just came back from this Hotel. Ive stayed here a few times and the review is still the same. The only reason why i always choose coco reef is because of its location, close (walking distance) from the airport and its private beach front. You wont need to rent a vehicle as everything is close by. There are a few things that needs to be changed at this hotel 1. The wifi is the worst! you cannot get wifi in your rooms,,,only at the lobby and at the beach front. 2, At night if you want to relax and watch TV please dont even bother. The channels are limited and the stations are very static. HORRIBLE 3. The breakfast is the same. Bearly anything local. Only american. There is no coconut bake (once a week if you lucky) , no sada, Salfish limited once per week if lucky . So imagine staying here for 3..4 days. The breakfast before was wayyy better. 5. You have call and schedule a room service if you want your garbage taken out or beds made up. There is no specific time set for room service even if you have the sign hanging on the door handle Ive waited 4pm for my service the first day. When i call to complain, thats the information that was given 6. The rooms are a bit out dated. The drainage of the bathtub is the worst. I really wished i had complain about this during my stay. Its horrible having dirty soap scums on your feet after shower. I really hope they look into those issues. Other than that the hotel is really good. 1. The beach front is amazing, You dont have to go any other beach. 2. I was able to get a surprising late checkout at 4pm which was amazing due to my late flight! 3. There are some lovely staff members that goes the extra for you. 4. The free bottled water and smoothie at the beach is amazing! be sure to be there around 10am to get this.. 5.The best location! close to the airport and food outlets everything is walking distance.

"Location, location, location!!"

A frequent visitor to Tobago, but this was only my second stay at Coco Reef. I forgot how lovely it is! Walking distance from the airport. Hotel and room furnishings are outdated, but clean and comfortable. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Loved the buffet breakfast and our meals at the beach front restaurant. Easy to take a short walk to purchase food outside if you want to try some local fare and also to keep the cost down. But most of all, we loved the beach!!! Perfect and relaxing, even with young kids. The man made rock wall shelters the beach and water was calm within the bay even though there were large swells outside. One of the downfalls is that there is no wifi in hotel rooms and the available wifi in the lobby area is poor quality and slow, so don't expect to stay connected while you are there. Treat it as an opportunity to disconnect and relax.
