Uncomfortable bed, very bad mattress, poor selection bath products. toilet tissue was very poor quality. Most hallways had very strong deodorizer. requested extra towels, none delivered. no laundry bag available
"Just average for a strip hotel..."
Check in was a bit slow. Front desk attendant was extremely pleasant and bubbly, but she was making calculations on a piece of paper which was strange. Unfortunately I had booked a room in the club tower which is a 5-10 minute walk through the casino to the far back of the hotel. Thought I had booked a non-smoking room, but was told I didn't and the hotel was full so I couldn't change. (Upon further review of my on-line reservation I can't find the words "non-smoking" anywhere so it was likely my mistake.) In any event, opening that front door and being engulfed in stale cigarette odor was very unpleasant, but again.. probably my bad that I wasn't more diligent when booking. Room amenities were generic at best. Cable TV extremely sub-standard for a strip hotel. Very few channels. Generic soaps and shampoos like you'd find in a motel 6, but they got the job done. One weird thing I noticed immediately is the toilet was only about about 6-8 inches off the ground - very uncomfortable for a tall guy like myself. Dining options are sub-standard as well. They were in the middle of a re-model so it likely was due to that. They have a small casino, bur the variety of machines and table games were adequate for its size. What saved this hotel, in my opinion, was its staff. Almost everybody I came in contact with was pleasant and helpful, so kudos for that. But otherwise I was left mostly unimpressed by this place when compared to other resorts of its size and value on the strip.
"Acceptable, but not overwhelming"
Spacious rooms, luxurious bathroom. Swimming pool closes too early, why? While Casino's open all night. Well situated at strip, near airport. Is smoking allowed in Casino? Doesn't have the grandeur of the better known places, but offers value for money.
This place is hit and miss. I've stayed here several times. The rooms are updated and are relatively nice. The biggest issue is the staff. Sometimes they are helpful, others they are rude. I like the craps table here though.
"Terrible hotel - horrible staff"
I stayed at the Tropicana on business a couple of weeks ago. I was staying at the property because it was a Hilton property, and with CES in town, I had very few options. I called the Tropicana before I arrived to ensure that I would have a nice stay. The people that I spoke with couldn't care any less, and were very unhelpful. When I did end up checking into the hotel after a very delayed, and long flight...I was told that I was in fact upgraded. When I got to my room , it was very warm and stuffy, so I immediately put on the AC. To my surprise, the AC started blowing heat! I called downstairs to let the, know that my AC wasn't working, and I was told "oh, the bungalows don't have any AC." I was very upset, to say the least - and unfortunately, I do have asthma. I explained to the front desk, that I must be in a room with AC, and I was told "sorry...the hotel is full and we can't help you. Perhaps we can help you tomorrow between 1:00pm and 5:00pm. I explained the I was there for work, so the hours between 1:00PM and 5:00PM don't work for me. The next day, they did move me into a bigger and nicer room...however, it was a smoking room! I had to use 2 cans of Lysol to help clear the air, and keep the windows open. As if my stay wasn't bad enough...on my second day if my stay, I got back to the hotel at 6:15PM, after being out of my room since before 7AM. When I got back, housekeeping was first cleaning my room. I explained to the housekeeper that she was going to have to leave, as I was out all day, and I have to do some work, quickly change, and be really to meet my colleagues in 30 minutes. She refused to leave, and after I kept insisting that she needs to leave...she called security on me! When security got there, I asked them to please remove her from my room, as I'd asked her to leave several times, and she has refused...so, she is not trespassing. Security wouldn't do anything, and within a few minutes I got a call from the manager on duty. The manager told me that he is just concerned with getting my room cleaned...to which I replied "I only wish that was your concern 12 hours ago when I left my room this morning!" The manager on duty, told me that he would have the manager of the hotel contact me the next day. He also said that if I show the housekeeper my ID, she'd leave, and I explained to him that I already offered that, yet she still refused to leave. He had me give her the phone, and finally she left with an obnoxious smirk on her face and said "have a nice night." At that point I had about 10 minutes left to do my work, change, and get out of the hotel. A few other things to note. The manager never contacted me. The hotel described my keys 2 days into my stay, and I had to get new keys, and they never provided me with receipts that I needed for my stay for expense purposes. I had to call the hotel and waste more of my time arguing with them about getting the receipt. Don't stay at this property. The hotel is dirty and smells of smoke. The staff is very nasty, and couldn't be less helpful. It seems like everybody that works here, hates their job and doesn't want to be bothered.
