"everything you need"
We stayed for one night at the Tropicana. Found it to be better priced than similar options. We were able to easily walk everywhere on the strip. Parking was simple and the customer service was great. They gave us each a warm cookie when we arrived which was a nice touch. The lobby has a small minimart with drinks, food, etc. There are not as many restaurant options as some of the larger casino/hotels but there is a starbucks and a few other healthy options. The pool looked awesome but we didn't use it. This is a great choice for anyone who is more interested in exploring the strip. If you are looking for shows or huge restaurants inside your hotel, this is probably not the best choice for you.
"DoubleTree Quality on the LV Strip"
We have stayed at the Tropicana many times since 1976. We continued to return occasionally even after the property started to show its age but had not been there since the association with Hilton. Hotel has been upgraded to near new condition and we were pleased to enjoy a high quality facility worthy of the DoubleTree brand
"Avoid when possible"
I'm trying to think of positive words to encourage the staff but clarify that this is not a hotel to consider for a Las Vegas experience. The facility is tired, smells, and is in need of renovation. Stayed in the club tower and should have known better when the large fan was blowing in the hallway upon arrival. It's like you are in a house under going service pro damage control. Service is iffy, depending on who you get, called the helpline for assist but got bell and was told they don't help, got transferred to front desk, I got the operator, finally called the front desk and asked for the hhonors desk and got informed they don't have one. Nothing honorable to mention here. Then after a long 12 hour work day I returned to room and found it hadn't been serviced and was told they couldn't get to for a couple hours.... you start to get the picture. Most people were going someplace else vs eating or gaming here, this is just a rack space for people. My suggestion is avoid fir the LV visitor , for Hilton my suggestion is reinvest the asset value in another property and let some else use this great location as it could be with it's trademark name. I enjoy a lot of Hilton properties globally but this is not one....so avoid (or endure).
This was the first time I have stayed here since the property was renovated a few years ago. Really had a good stay. Room was clean and comfortable, casino bright and well decorated. I also enjoyed a couple different meals at the Beach Cafe... a breakfast buffet and dinner. Both were enjoyable, service friendly and quick. Tried the Cincinnati chili and it was an interesting tasty treat served over spaghetti. Enjoyed the stay hope to get back again soon!
"Good hotel, little far away from the action. (Stayed in Paradise Tower)"
I actually enjoyed my stay here. had a feel of vegas as i imagine it used to be. fair enough, this hotel doesnt have the same level of glamour and prestige as those further up the road, and it does sometimes feel a little far but i dont have any major complaints. breakfast buffet, whilst small in variety, was still plentiful and the food tasted good. although given the price, i would probably opt for breakfast at the Aria. The room was spacious, with a well equipped bathroom and two big double beds. our room looked out towards excalibur but we weren't disturbed by any noise from the main road. as previously mentioned, it is a bit of a walk to most of the big clubs and bars, although relatively cheap in a taxi. Whilst there we did the hoover dam tour which i would recommend. although if you ring greyline directly, then its about 50$ cheaper each. The hotel, whilst a little dated did have a certain appeal which i liked....and i dont see why anyone would be disappointed here unless they were hoping for extreme luxury. Pool area is large and clean and there are plenty of nearby eateries, burgers/ pizza etc. some shops too if you cross over to MGM and walk along the front. all in all, i would stay there again, as i had no major issues. staff were friendly, and theres a shop on the ground floor next to the casinos which is convenient.
