"Great location for activities in downtown Toronto"
This hotel is right in downtown Toronto. It is handy for the subway, shopping, theatres, restaurants. If you can get this hotel for around $100.00 is is good value. The internet is not very good so if you need it for business I would not recommend it. The room was clean and the staff were quite friendly. Parking is across the street and there is no drop off spot at the hotel itself. We tried to check in early, 2:45 but our room was not ready. The room was ready at 3:30 due to the fact the housekeeping had a mess to clean up from the previous rental. They did a good job of cleaning up, especially as they knew we were anxious to get into the room and go out. I would stay here again if a good rate was on offer for the convenience alone. Be aware that the helicopter pad is very near by so you will hear it when they have an emergency at the hospital. Night or day. The windows also open which is a nice touch. Not too keen on the sliding glass bathroom door though as it does not close tight.
"Solid value if you get it for around $100. Restaurant is vegan/gluten-free friendly"
Stayed her for a couple of nights on a stopover in Toronto because the price was really good: $99/$100 a night. I actually stayed one night, then checked in again to a new room when my flight got rescheduled due to snow. On the first night, the hot water stopped working in my room so I had to ask to get moved to a different room. So I saw THREE rooms during my stay and all were identical in their appearance and cleanliness and were seemingly well-maintained (Aside from the water thing) and equipped with nice deep bath tubs. My only other complaint was both rooms had non-functioning tub stoppers that I had to call maintenance to replace. All told though, the hiccups were forgivable because staff responded quickly and dealt with the issues without a hassle. What's more, I found the staff to be overall very friendly and helpful. Any time you get a room in downtown Toronto, there's going to be a catch. This hotel is actually nicer than most I've stayed in for that rate, which is why I can let the hot water/tub thing slide given the responsiveness of the staff. Plus, the hotel has a nice restaurant with some great vegan/gluten free options. Much appreciated! I'd stay here again.
"Do not book directly through Trip Advisor"
The hotel is in a great location. Right next to Dundas Sq. Subway also a minute away, shopping centre and Theatres round the corner. Nice pub opposite where you get discount through hotel. Rooms good size if you opt for Deluxe. Staff friendly. Here is the negative which has nothing to do with hotel more so through TripAdvisor. The room was booked directly through trip advisor as had free WiFi with deluxe rooms. Upon checking in was told this was not the case but would gladly provide if if I showed the booking. When I clicked 'my bookings' on TripAdvisor there was none to show. It said 'no bookings'. I emailed TripAdvisor who quite simply couldn't help and could not explain why no bookings were shown all they could provide was a basic screenshot which when you clicked sent you straight to the hotel website. Fortunately after a day I managed to tell the hotel about the issues with getting clarification or help from TripAdvisor and the hotel staff were great. Unlike TripAdvisor staff! Do not book through TripAdvisor. Back to the hotel, I would recommend and advise the deluxe room as was two large beds. Only minor issue was the bathroom layout as the shower would fill the whole floor around toilet and sink with water as no door or ledge to prevent this.
Stayed 1 night. Front desk staff were friendly. Room was clean. Beyond that, parking is kitty corner to the hotel and not obvious (particularly not in the dark). I was charged for parking when my booking was to include it - the front desk kindly wrote me a voucher which was to get me a refund when I went out of the lot… But I left at 7 AM and no one was on duty so my stay ended up costing me another $25. Strange smell in the hallway. Two single beds in the room and one was 6 inches away from the heating unit which randomly puffed out cold air at about 1.5 hour intervals throughout the night. Check out was smooth.
I'm going to start off by saying that for US$95 (fees included) a night, I thought I would at least get free wifi. Depending on which link you click on for the hotel, wifi is listed under entertainment along with the other included amenities. Check in was smooth and easy, the front desk staff was nice. The room is clean and looks to be newly remodeled IKEA vibe. The beds were comfy and the bathroom was clean so that is why I gave the 3 star rating. Other details... They claim to have a bar/lounge at the hotel but there is not one. However there is an attached restaurant that was not open when I checked in. I had to go to vending machines on 3 different floors to find one that either worked or had water in it. Sleeping in is impossible with the loud flushing toilets (in other rooms) as well as my own. The walls are paper thin so you hear people's conversations (from their room) in the hallway and the doors are Very Loud.
