"Lovely resort in a very scenic wilderness setting"
Whoever came up with the idea of luxurious spa lodge in the middle of nowhere Canadian wilderness is simply genius. We stayed at Tyax Resort in September of 2015 and then again in August 2016, each time before and after our mountain biking trip with Tyax Adventures (a separate company). Both years, I was able to book a massage appointment for the afternoon of the date when we were scheduled to return from the multi-day mountain biking trip, which was PERFECT for loosening my tight muscles after 3 long days of riding. Spa area also features saunas and outdoor spa tub, which also were useful for post-riding relaxation. Somewhat of a downside of the resort is that you basically have no dining choice beside the lodge's own restaurant. Cost of hauling food in could be prohibitively high, so they use lots of local ingredients, and food is superbly prepared. Just be prepared for a somewhat limited menu choices and elevated prices. Bar is well stocked too, but also pricy. For our 2016 trip, one of the riders came with his wife who did not ride a bike. So while we were on a 3-day hut-to-hut mountain biking trip, she stayed at the resort, starting each morning with breakfast on the sunny deck, mid morning Mimosas, participating in free yoga classes or paddling a SUP on the lake, catching up on her reading. She said it was the most peaceful and relaxing vacation in her recent memory. Tyax Resort offers something for just about anyone. We certainly loved our stays and most likely will be back again.
"Amazing location and great lodge"
We spend 5 day for heliskiing. Great lodge with very friendly staff. Everybody was introducing themselves and asking for names. Also staff joined for dinner and not only the guides or pilots. Even houskeeping got to mingle. Rooms are very nice and make sure you get one overlooking the lake. Food is great and amazing for such a remote locations
Awesome. Beyond. Gem. Best kept secret. Explore BC. Views. Hiking. Biking. Riding. Bears and more. Backcountry adventures meets luxury in the middle of paradise. Leave the stress at home. Relax. We loved it!!
They weren't kidding when they describe this as a wilderness resort. The nearest large town, Lillooet, is 2 hours away on gravel roads. The closet "town" is Gold Bridge with a population of just 27. The hotel is situated on a lake and literally surrounded by mountains. It is a beautiful setting with many trails to hike and bike from the hotel. The rooms are very large, clean, comfortable and well appointed. The staff are very friendly and are all willing to give advice and guidance on how to enjoy your stay. We requested to switch as we wanted a balcony, we were expecting a charge for this, but they switched our room with no fuss at all.
"Good location, but aborted experience"
We visited this hotel with a group of 20 people. When we arrived, some rooms did not have the power, and there was a general problem with hot water. The management argued that there was a technical problem. One day later, we learn that they forgot to order fuel. The owner was friendly and allowed to take shower in her house, but anyway, we decided to abort the stay and cancelled 1 night.
