"Beautiful Hotel Facing the Ocean"

   22-02-2018
A great location being a short drive from central Cape Town via a free shuttle bus away from the crowds. Our suite was spacious and roomy finished to a high standard comfortable and spotlessly clean. The staff at all levels were first rate attentive and helpful at all levels, which makes ones stay. Breakfast was a feast with seating on the terrace or inside. WE also had diner on our first night which was delicious and did not disappoint. Equally a light meal in the coffee shop was also very acceptable. WATER SHORTAGE we could only use the small pool the main area was closed to save water.which made it a bit crowded.NO baths just showers this did not deter us but made us aware of the true value of water.

"Hotel dated and worn, amenities poor but location and service fantastic,"

   21-02-2018
I live in Cape Town but travel regularly around the world for business and pleasure so my standards for accommodation are high. Having stayed at the 12 Apostles sister hotel (Bushmanskloof) three times as well as other five star hotels in SA like the one and Only- I decided to spoil my mother in law with a weekend away at the 12 Apostles. My sister in law and I were in one luxury room and she was in another. My mother in laws room was decently sized with a nice partial sea view. Our room was tiny with a dingy bathroom. I would rate that room a three star. I complained and then we were moved to a more spacious room which I would say is more four star. The hotel’s service levels are great but I still don’t think the rooms and decor measure up to a five star hotel. My sense is that the hotel hasn’t been renovated since it opened. The bathroom amenities are limited (London hotels like the Ned are far superior in this regard preempting all in room requirements). Details like the bedside clock are cheaply executed with the bathroom design being ten years delayed with fading grouting and old fashioned shower stalls. The aircons in both our rooms are temperamental and the wallpaper is not seamless. Furthermore, the cinema programming schedule advertised certain movies and then when we went the movie wasn’t available and it was brushed off as “optionality” and a good thing that we get to choose from Netflix which in SA is ridiculously delayed! That being said the popcorn and hot chocolate was great. Having spent r27k for two rooms for two nights I would much rather have gone to One and Only Island Room suites, Babylonstoren or Bushmanskloof for room quality and overall experience. The service has been good if a little bit haphazard and the guest experience manager did switch our rooms when I complained the first time. The first and second room were at the same price point but vastly different décor and much better lighting rather than feeling like a storage closet (room 305 avoid at all costs). However, if a sea view is the most important thing then I would still recommend Twelve Apostles but make sure you book a room that is superior sea facing rather than luxury or classic.

"Setting is absolutely fantastic"

The setting of this hotel on the Atlantic Ocean is breathtaking. The restaurant food is exceptional. We especially loved the the breakfast buffet on the terrace ,with spectacular views over the ocean. which includes champagne and fresh Atlantic oysters. Great for a romantic getaway. There is plenty of covered parking in a parking garage .There is a great spa for those who love to be pampered .

"Old school luxury hitel"

   12-02-2018
Stayed just for 2 nights in a sea facing ground floor suite. All I can say is stunning, waking up to the view of the sea from the very sumptuous bed and relaxing lounge area and terrace. The road which you couldn’t sea was not an issue or a distraction from the view. The suite was very spacious with amazing bathroom and shower. The staff are very attentive, very on point with service and nothing is any trouble. The pool is heated!! A rarity for Cape Town and very welcome. The hotel feels small and inviting though is bigger than you think. The tasting menus in the restaurant are well worth the effort, beautifully presented and equally tasty. Paired with the wines, from our very knowledgeable waiter and sommelier, was impressive. And very relaxing stay and escape. True 5 star value.

"Good hotel but room for improvement"

   10-02-2018
We stayed at the 12 Apostles for several days this February. This was our first time in both Cape Town and South Africa and we were very much looking forward to it. We had the hotel pick us up at the airport and both the driver and the reception were very efficient and friendly. Our room was ready, was well appointed and comfortable if a little small. But it had a nice balcony with views over the pool area and out to the sea beyond. Overall, we found the service to be very good and friendly and the food to be excellent. We ate in both the Cafe and Azure restaurants. We also went on two tours organized by the excellent concierge Dane. Both were outstanding. There is a severe water shortage in Cape Town but we thought the hotel made the best of it and we were hardly inconvenienced. The shuttle service into Cape Town and back was excellent but it had to be booked which meant knowing your departure and arrival times. A little inconvenient if you just wanted to walk around and do some shopping without necessarily knowing how long you would be. On the negative side, we found it very difficult to get reservations at the hotel restaurants without giving several days notice. They always seemed to be fully booked. The choice was between accepting very inconvenient times, using room service - not easy in a small room - or going out. Going out was tricky because the hotel is isolated and you need a shuttle driver that, as I stated above, also has to be booked. The first time we tried to go to the Leopard Bar we were turned away because it was 'full' with reserved tables arriving. I have stayed in luxury hotels all over the world and this was the first time I have ever been refused entry to the hotel bar. The next evening we tried again. Most tables had reserved signs and only one small table next to the door was available. We did, however, manage to secure seats at the bar. This was at 6.30pm. The bar did not actually fill up until around 8.00pm and the 'reserved tables' remained empty and unused. This bar is a wonderful resource with a great atmosphere, great staff and great decor. There is clearly a problem with the capacity of the hotel to serve both residents and visitors in its restaurants and bar. I don't know if this is due to lack of capacity, to poor management or a mix of the two. As someone who was paying a pretty hefty daily rate to stay at the hotel, my minimum expectation was that I could have dinner and go for a drink. This is a very nice hotel and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I am giving it three stars due to their ability to manage access to the bar and restaurants.
