"Wonderful week in paradise"

9.5/10. My wife and I had a wonderful trip to the Melia Cayo Coco. The bad: The water pressure in our shower was quite poor, it made showering a little challenging (especially if you had long hair), this was mitigated somewhat by having a handheld shower head. The good: We are both picky eaters but managed to find a lot of delicious food to dine on: fresh fish, tasty pasta, delicious desserts. The staff at the resort were exceptionally helpful and friendly. Our room was very pleasant, had nice furniture and a fairly comfortable (but a bit hard) bed. We were warned by the tour guide on the way to the resort that there might be a lot of bugs, but there were very few bugs, the hotel does a great job of pest control. The pool was fantastic, well looked after and includes a volleyball area. Some advice: bring clips for your towels (to hold them on the beach chairs) , large plastic beer/drink cups(for at the pool or beach) We are already planning for our next trip back to the Melia Cayo Coco.

"Bit of a late review from March but cannot wait for our 5th return."

Have now been to MCC four times now. We said we would never return anywhere twice but once you've been you get hooked The hotel is one of the best we have stayed in. The food is fantastic. The staff in the hotel from reception, to cleaners, to gardeners and not forgetting the wonderful waiters, waitresses, animation team , dancers, cooks and everyone behind the scenes make you feel so welcome and some have become friends and cannot wait to see them all again. There have been a few changes over the years but always improving. Keep up the good work and see you all in March 2017.

"Super time"

My third time at Melia Cayo Coco and great as usual. The staff are wonderful and always look after us, especially in the dining room and reception area. The hotel is always kept up to a very clean standard. The food is good and a good variety to choose from. Recommended. Will be going again next year.

"Even better the second time around"

My husband and I were at the Melia from November 22 to December 4, for the 2nd time. We didn't think it was possible but it was even better.! We enjoyed everything and have experienced very few negative aspects. So here it goes: The beach: The beach is wonderful, not very large but when we were there they started bringing sand in with pipelines to enlarge it, very good idea. The water is shallow and crystal clear, simply breathtaking. There are no rocks. Food: Awesome food really. Lots of choices in the buffet. I can't see how some people think there's not enough variety. We were there for 12 days and didn't get fed up with the food even though we didn't even go to the a la carte restaurants (our choice). Incredible selection of meat, fish and seafood. You can go to the beach grill for lunch, the meat is grilled to your liking and tastes amazing. Special kudos to the lady who makes flambéed bananas with rum and pancakes at the buffet, soooo delicious. The room We had a very nice room with double beds pushed together, as they have very few rooms with king size beds. It was comfortable enough. Also we had a refurbished bathroom which was great. Really no views from our balcony though, just a big bush but we didn't mind. We had a noisy neighbor but nothing can be done about that, some people just don't have respect for others. Resort Pretty small resort, which is nice because everything is close by, no matter where your room is. Only one pool but it's big and there's never a lot of people in it. As a lot of people have mentioned, it's quite annoying the way a lot of folks reserve sunbeds by waking up at the crack of dawn to get the best spots and in my opinion this shouldn't be tolerated, Yes it may annoy some guests if they're told that they can't reserve sundbeds but on the other hand it irritates other people that they are allowed to do so...I know the manager has said other palapas would be put around the pool to make up for this. On the beach, we never had any problem finding a nice spot but then again it was very windy during our stay so not a lot of people on the beach. Staff Everyone is really nice, from the gardeners who always say Hola to the maids and servers. Special mention to Dago who works at the buffet, very nice man. He always tells us the nightly theme and advises us on whats really good. Also Tony and Dayron, two very nice servers. They all work very hard and certainly deserve whatever tips you give them. You would tip workers in your own country so do it in Cuba too, it's not because its an all inclusive that you shouldn't. Excursions We didn't do any except a trip to Playa Pilar with the double decker bus which was fun. Playa Pilar is simply amazing, transparent water and no seaweed at all, we loved it. The bus costs 5 CUC per person, round trip so pretty cheap. However it takes 1h30 to get to Playa Pilar with that bus because they stop at every hotel. It gives you a chance to see them. There are plenty of excursions being offered but they get quite pricey. So to sum things up, don't hesitate to book there if you're looking for a nice quiet vacation. It's definitely not a party place, which we very much appreciated. We will definitely be going back

"Most probably the best Ressort in Kuba!"

We give this hotel full points because in Kuba it is most likely the best one. In European terms the 5 stars are probably more like 3,5 but after having experienced other hotels and restaurants in Kuba the food offering is a true relief. The large buffet-restaurant does not require reservation and in our opinion is the best of four available restaurants. Great choice of foods three times a day and several stations where friendly chefs are ready to prepare your custom eggs, fish or meat dish. Don't even bother booking the Italian (food doesn't taste Italian) or the international (cold atmosphere, food and service is only so-so) restaurants. The cuban cuisine by the beach is by far the better choice. We had a room in one of the lagoon houses. It was clean and absolutely ok with regard to bed and bathroom quality. The privacy on the terrace was limited due to a very transparent divider towards the room next door. More of a separation would be desirable. One thing we found really annoying: All day beds and deck chairs in the pool area have big signs saying that they cannot be reserved but the hotel management does not enforce this rule. The result is that you never get a deck chair unless you are willing to participate in the reservation race early in the morning. We suggest either to skip this rule completely or to enforce it. Maybe there should be a reservation fee... All in all a positive experience, particularly with regard to value for money. And the cocktails in the evening were great!
