"Beautiful Cuban Experience!"

My husband and I stayed at the Melia for 7 days end of September, it was our first time in Cuba and it was beautiful and safe! Transfer to hotel is quick as long as everyone gets through security okay. The beaches here are the best swimming beaches we have ever visited! They are crystal clear, calm and you can walkout forever! We stayed in a general room which was kept spotless, towels replaced and well kept our entire stay!Thank you to our room keeper! There was ALOT of food, I am a picky eater(no red meat,no seafood) so meals were somewhat repetitive for me, hubby found enough to eat,we found our favourite meals were breakfast( we had it in bed one morning-a staff member came and set it up-definitely suggest this!)and our dinners at the Italian and international restaurant. Inconsistency with knowing how to make certain drinks made us hangout in the lobby bar where that was pretty much guaranteed.A drink menu or drink of the day menu would be helpful at other bars as well. Staff was definitely there to help and please! They were tremendous and a true strength of this resort. We got day passes to sister resorts (Tryp & Melia Jardines Del Ray)and enjoyed our days there as well. We also did two excursion days-one into two towns(Moron & Ciego de Avila) ,crocodile farm and mangrove boat tour, and one on a boat for snorkeling and go to Pilar beach. Both trips were good -it was interesting to see the real Cuba off resort, but snorkeling was nothing spectacular. All in all we had a great time and if we were going back to Cuba would consider returning to the Malia Cayo Coco.

From the easy 10 minute coach transfer to the waiters constantly refreshing drinks, this hotel has got to be one of the best I have ever stayed in. The staff genuinely cared about your welfare and couldn't do enough. We had a slight problem with the shower on arrival and were approached by the customer service lady as soon as we appeared from unpacking, if everything was OK. When we explained, it was fixed within 15 minutes! The room on the lagoon stilts was everything you could want, with good size balcony and sun loungers. Bed was huge, as was shower, large dressing area, maid service and water boy refreshing mini bar daily with litre bottles of water for you to take out as well as beers. There was a good variety of food in the main restaurant, with fish, shellfish, beef, pork, chicken all cooked in front of you,so you knew it hadn't been kept warm. We even tried the sushi one night and it was superb! On our last night we had dinner at the international a'la carte restaurant and pre arranged lobster at an added cost of approx £32. It was incredible and will take a lot of beating. Would probably cost around £100 for that in UK! Everything was very clean and the staff clearly took pride in their hotel. The pool was a good size with lots of activities if you wanted to get involved. On the beach it was great having waiter service from the beach bar. The beach bbq was fantastic with a great band playing and more great food. Everywhere was air conditioned with a nice variety of little shops for any necessities, even a medical centre. We had a day trip on a catarmaran where we took our beach towels. On speaking to people who were staying in the hotels either side of us,we had obviously made a good choice. They had complaints about food and cleanliness of their hotels. At the end of the day, you get what you pay for. Wouldn't hesitate to book again! Was absolutely fantastic!

"Another brilliant holiday at Melia cayo coca"

Lots of changes, still keeping its charms. Ongoing upgrades to the old rooms also work on the new spa - can't wait to see this! Although pool was being maintained the hotel arranged for transportation to other Melia hotels, a good way to have a little look at alternative hotels. Staff excellent as always x

"Lovely holiday "

Recently back from a Lovely relaxing holiday at Melia Cayo Coca, hotel room slightly dated, but maid service excellent. Food nice alot of choice. Staff on the whole very friendly Entertainment very good. Be warned no Samsung phones/tablets work over there some would say that is a God send!!! You have to buy wifi which works out roughly £2 an hour. Unfortunately for some people the hotel shut the only pool on complex to complete maintenance for a week, but we enjoy the beach so it didn't affect us but I'm sure that didnt suit everyone and for the size of the complex it could do with another pool. We did have a bit of rain but bar one day we had sun everyday. The mosquitoes were a bit of a nightmare make sure you take your deet also those ants bite so again be careful. This was our 1st trip to Cuba and we really enjoyed it. Hopefully we will return again. Thank you Melia Cayo Coca for a lovely holiday

"Mrs Hayward"

My husband and I have just got back from a 2 week holiday at The Melia Cayo Coco, we found the staff to be very friendly and welcoming, the gardeners are always about giving the guests gifts that they have made. Unfortunately my husband was ill when we were there being violently sick also having diarrhoea, we put this down to the food as most off it wasn't hot enough. We tended to stick to the food that was being cooked to order as we knew that would be hot enough. My husband was unable to leave our room for over 24 hours and he needed to see the doctor which then left us with a bill for £94 and 5 days of tablets plus a injection. Also the pool was emptied to be cleaned which were not informed of, if we had of been we would not have gone and would have changed hotels, the pool was empty for 7 of the 14 days that we were there, to be fair this was not the hotels fault as they had informed Thomas Cook, it was Thomas Cook that failed to inform us. Another issue was that there was no soap in the toilets that the guests and staff were using which were attached to the snack bar and Cuban restaurant, so guests and staff were using toilets and handling food having not properly washing there hands, we did point this out to the reps but still no soap was provided, other guests also pointed it out. When the pool area was cleaned and reopened the pool looked lovely but the surrounding area needs updating as there are holes and it is very dated and uneven
