"The Cayo's"

Great location, with lovely white sands. Hotel was clean and staff very helpful but dated and I would say it's more a three star than four. Went scuba driving and a boat trip too before the resort was hit buy Hurricane Imra.

"Fantastic staff"

This hotel is really beautiful lagoon room was basic but nice and airy. The staff are all exceptional from the friendly gardeners who always have a greeting for you .The waiting staff in all the restaurants are amazing. The food is always fresh and tasty. We could not recommend this hotel any higher.if you are considering a holiday at this hotel then book it as we are sure you will not be disappointed. The beach is out of this world and is just beautiful.

"Wonderful place, wonderful memories made"

I stayed at this hotel with my partner for 2 weeks at the end of July. Having stayed in Cayo Coco several times previously at the Sol Cayo Coco (which we loved) and Iberostar Daiquiri hotel we decided to give Melia a try. We were not disappointed, this was by far our favourite hotel. We had an amazing time from the moment we arrived. When we arrived we went to our room and couldn't wait to join in the foam party that was going on at the pool. There was a small problem with our room but this got resolved quickly and professionally. We loved our lagoon room and the fabulous views. During the time here mosquitoes were never a problem for us but we did wear repellent at all times. Everything about this hotel and the staff was perfect. Plenty of different delicious foods to choose from and we regularly used the Ala carte restaurants. We enjoyed having the special breakfast in the restaurant on the lagoon sometimes as a change to the buffet. They have every drink and cocktail you could ever want including some premium brands. The staff go above and beyond and we made some good friends there especially the entertainment team, my partner loved the daily volleyball. We made so many friends and really enjoyed the evening entertainment, as a group of mid 20 year olds we were always entertained, there was something for all ages. Our favourite was the beach restaurant where they had a BBQ daily at lunchtime and live music. On returning home we were devastated to hear about the hurricane and the effect this has had on the hotel and the staff. I was glad to hear that all staff are safe and I hope that the hotel is up and running again soon enough. After having such an amazing time here, I have booked to come again with more of my family members in June 2018. This hotel is paradise especially thanks to the team of hardworking staff.

"Two weeks vacation"

Splendid holiday In This lovely resort great food terrific service and entertainment and brilliant flats fly fishing . A delightful holiday resort that we will be returning to later in 2018 . CPU ting the days ,

"Perfect laid-back vacation"

We visited Mélia Cayo Coco in August 2017, prior to the hurricane, so keep that in mind when reading this review. CHECK-IN: I was so impressed that when we arrived around 11AM, they already had our room available for us to check-in to, even though check-in wasn't technically until 4PM. It was low-season, but they could've made us wait on principle, and we appreciated that they didn't. I was annoyed not to receive our hour of free internet that was supposed to come with the lagoon booking; when we mentioned this a day later, we were told we had to upgrade at the hotel to receive that, but others we talked to who booked it prior did receive it. In the end, it wasn't worth the fight for 1.50 CUC. STAFF: Super friendly (other than the above). (I'm sorry, I'm really bad with names, but I did my best to remember them while I was there!) Cuban hospitality at its best. Housekeeping, bartenders, wait staff--everyone was amazing. LAGOON ROOM: I don't know that I would pay hundreds more for it, in retrospect, although I didn't see the other rooms, so it's hard to say. It was a lovely room. The bathroom had lots of room and a separate enclosure for the toilet/bidet/shower. The shower was glass and tile and very large. The room was well-kept and cleaned every time we came back to the room. The bed was on the hard size, although I have found that typical of Caribbean resorts. There was lots of storage available, and we were able to hide our suitcases away. I don't think we once turned on the TV. The mini bar fridge was kept full of drinks, and we were gifted with a bottle of champagne and rum, which I believe is exclusive to the lagoon room. I will say one big plus was the private breakfast at the International/Lagoon restaurant: it was open until 11AM (as opposed to the main restaurant, where breakfast closed at 10AM), so we always ate there since we like to sleep in on vacation. RESTAURANTS: The food was perfectly lovely. It was my first trip to Cuba, and I've heard that food can be of some concern, but I ate wonderfully. My favourite was the coconut ice cream, which I returned for a couple times a day! My other favourite were the slow-grilled pork ribs, at the restaurant near the beach: they put them on early in the morning and they cook until lunchtime, when they disappear fast! Hubby liked the pasta bar. We also liked that they have several à la cartes: this is something we definitely look for in a resort. These did not disappoint. We really liked the international, and the beach's menu was good, although after dark, the bugs got bad (as they do; we appreciated the spraying they do on this resort0. 24-hour snack bar could use a wider menu: perhaps with pizza? POOL: There is only one, and while it is quite large, it is not very deep. It was also very hot and humid while we were there, so we spent most days by the beach, where it was cooler. There are plenty of beds with coverings, which is so nice. A lonely palm tree provides welcome shade. BEACH: Beautiful near-white sand. The sea was like bathwater (which is concerning from a global-warming standpoint, but anyway). It was kept very clean. Beautiful breeze on warm days. There were tons of palapalas to choose from, so shade was always available. Beach volleyball had lower attendance for low-season, but they held it most days. Dance lessons were also available. There was a scuba-hut and boats going out, so I'm pretty sure there were some water sports available. BARS: I'm not a huge drinker, and hubby doesn't drink at all, but they seemed good? haha. Friendly staff, again. We loved the frozen lemonade slushies, although it'd be great to have a pina colada with the same consistency. ENTERTAINMENT: I was mildly disappointed that they didn't have any shows on the main stage, I guess because it was low-season, but they did have lots of live bands and singers, either in the lobby during the evening, or at the beach restaurant during the day, which we very much enjoyed. There was also a fashion show one evening, which was fun. The sports club is pretty much abandoned, but again, this could be a time-of-year thing. We were planning on playing pool in the lagoon bar one evening, but we didn't get to it. We loved that they had a book exchange at the pool house/towel exchange hut, since we're both avid readers, and I was finding it difficult to download books on my e-reader in Cuba (had to get someone back home to purchase them). This was a super relaxing vacation with all the amenities we were looking for. I might have been bored if I was looking for anything more than just to absolutely chill, but I wasn't, so it was perfect.
