"Special place"

Enjoyed my one night stay very much. I got to witness a beautiful sunset and sunrise from my balcony. Maybe I was just 'lucky' or I don't have massive EXPECTATIONS unlike some tourists ("arrived at pink hotel"... how disrespectful!!!!). I had running water, my room was clean, the staff were friendly and professional, the pool was glorious and breakfast was fine too! There were quirky moments to treasure...hearing the chorus of roosters crowing at dawn, from down at Vinales - and no they are not loud enough to wake guests! I'd love to return...thank you Hotel Los Jazmines! :o)

"The view is fantastic "

The view from our balcony and the hotel was fabulous. The swimming pool was OK but a bit dirty and crowded because they allow non hotel guests in. The breakfast was OK There was a brilliant band who played on the viewing platform above the hotel, where tourist coaches would stop for the view. The CD purchased does not work however

"Visited for swim only"

We paid the small fee to use the pool. Great vibe - there was music being played while we were there, beautiful location and large pool - lovely way to spend an afternoon / evening. We caught the taxi back to town for 5CUC.

"Disappointed ...."

We arrived at s PINK hotel - which was dirty and tired ... needs serious cleaning ....we really expected a better hotel. The only thing that’s really great is the view. It’s far from town 4km so not walkable so you’re stuck once you are there at night.

"No running water and a bed bug infestation. The views were not worth that."

The scenery from this hotel is spectacular! And having a few drinks by the pool is quite nice too! Once afternoon, the poolside entertainment was great. But I would absolutely not stay here. The two deal breakers for us were: 1. Lack of running water to the rooms. For three consecutive days. On the last day, there was no water at all for several hours (we had been to Cayo Levisa beach for the day and basically could not shower until 10pm). Or flush the toilet. This is a common problem in this hotel and the staff are quite annoyed if you raise the issue. They will tell you to wait 5 minutes and they do nothing. Annoying if you wait for 25 lots of 5 minutes (yep 2 hours) to have a shower and give up and go to dinner anyway covered in sand because you have no option. Even though you took a towel in desperation to the open air shower by the pool but it also had no water. 2. Bedbugs. I have NEVER encountered these before. But, I react to insect bites and I had nearly 300 welts over my body. (Having said that, in 4 weeks in Cuba/Central America I managed to avoid a single mosquito bite). In the middle of the night at Los Jazmines, when we turned on the light, we saw 20 bugs in the bed scurrying for darkness. In hindsight at this point, we realised that the black marks on the sheets were not just stains being old sheets but were signs of bedbug excrement which we now know is a tell tale sign. OMG. I needed creams and antihistamines to relieve the itch and three weeks later I still have marks on my arms. I will attach some photos. Avoid Room 310 and probably others. For those travellers who still want to stay, some extra info/advice:- a) If you stay as you are not worried about the above - at least check your sheets and the mattress for bed bug infestation. Seriously. b) Don't get upset if you don't have running water in your room. You have been warned. c) Expect bad service. It really is bad - the worst we experienced in Cuba. On check in, expect you passport details to be laboriously written down, then typed into a computer and then photocopied. If you go to reception, and the receptionist is doing something else (eg fixing a stapler) - then you will just have to wait until he is finished. The lady who sells the tours though is really lovely. The only person in the place who seems to have any concept of customer service. By the bar, they will serve you when they are finished chatting to their friends. d) don't rely on the the published exchange rate on the sign. They shrug their shoulders and tell you it is wrong if you question it. If you need currency - get a basic amount and get more at your next location. They either are bad at maths or good at skimming on a currency deal. e) The food is bad. Even bread is awful. Pay for a taxi to go into town. (Or don't stay here as previously advised and you can avoid the return taxi fare). f) The rooms are not clean. We were pretty sure our sheets were dirty when we checked in as there were blood streaks on them. We were also pretty sure getting help from reception was a useless exercise. g) You have to pay for pool towels and a key for your room safe. Except they didn't have a key to our room safe. h) Internet is quite expensive at 2 CUC per hour. i) Oh yeah - it's all pretty old but that is part of the charm! I really cannot recommend this hotel. We loved Cuba but not this hotel.
