Over Iberostar Grand Trinidad

Our favorite

"Perfect location and quality staff"

Trinidad was the second stop on our tour of Cuba. After being in crazy Havana, it was great to find ourselves in a small town, which felt to me like a Spanish pueblo. So much history, colourful houses and a lovely beach. Iberostar hotel was a great choice; they made our honeymoon extra special from check-in, to the room and the restaurant. We had a room with a balcony over looking the front of the hotel where the square was which was perfect for a quick cocktail before dinner. I loved I strongly recommend this hotel when visiting Trinidad.

"What a great Hotel"

We were told before we arrived that this hotel was the best in Cuba and it certainly lived up to this billing. The hotel was very stylish and well appointed our room was very comfortable and had two double beds. The restaurant was well laid out and the staff were very attentive. We stayed two nights but would have loved to stay longer. Our room had an outside sitting area where with friends we were able to have a drink before eating

"Stunning hotel"

Visited for three days in August 2016. Rooms are a good size and some overlook a central atrium. The atrium has a lovely fountain in the centre but you may find it is distracting when trying to get to sleep if your room overlooks the lobby. Bar is well stocked and with great bar men, and there's a games room with a pool table to spend the evening. Wifi available in the lobby, you'll need to buy a drink at the bar before getting one.

"Best Hotel on our Cuba Tour"

Stayed here for 2 nights last week as part of a small group tour from England. This was definitely the highlight hotel of our trip - couldn't fault it. The only thing that could have improved would be some outside space or a pool, but we were happy enough without. Food was good - we had breakfast and dinner. We stayed in room 120 which has a small courtyard at the back, and managed to have a drinks party for 13 along with our neighbour in 121. Staff all very friendly and helpful and we loved Trinidad. One thing I would mention is that the bath can be a bit tricky to get in and out of if you have mobility problems - the shower is over the bath. But I managed it with my knee problem. Loved the live music at dinner too.

"A little bit of luxury"

This was our third destination in Cuba and the hotels had not disappointed, and this was no exception. Situated in the Centre of the town, you could be forgiven for walking past it as it doesn't have a particularly grand appearance such as the Iberostar in Havana, but it does have a pleasant green façade. On entering it has a beautiful lobby and reception area with seating in the centre. As our room was being checked to see if it was ready we sat in the lobby and was offered a complimentary welcome drink and towels to freshen up. Leading off from the reception area is a bar area and the dining room. Our room was a junior Suite overlooking the main square. The room was very large and housed two queen beds, a sofa, table and chairs all in a dark wood. The mini bar was stocked well, but not included in the price of course. The bathroom was also a good size with separate shower, probably the best shower I've experienced in many a hotel- large and very powerful. Breakfast is in the main dining area, and as with other hotels offer the usual buffet type fare. If there is one criticism of breakfast- it would be that some of the items were not topped up and serving dishes would be empty. I would also suggest to management or the person in charge at breakfast would be to ensure that the waitresses pay a little more attention to their guests and not spend so much time chatting in groups. Several times I had to go over to them to ask for some coffee. Now I have seen other reviews which say that the noise level was bad due to noise from the square. We were warned on arrival that our room faced the square and that due to the music festival that was taking place we would experience loud music until about 1am- 2am. However, the first night (Friday) the music did go on until 4am! We were only there the two nights and the second night it had all finished by midnight. The Junior Suites do not have balconies like the rooms below but that didn't matter as the view across the square was just as good. The hotel provides a small map which shows the local attractions. The walk to the museums and the old town is about a 10 minute walk from the hotel. Out of the hotel, take the first right up Colon street and first left where you enter one of the main streets with bars, and restaurants. The people are friendly and welcoming, and if you walk up the little backstreets you will find the local people relaxing in doorways and as I did a local woman crafting straw hats outside her home. The streets are also lined with hundreds of market stalls filled with local crafts. As with Havana, most of the streets do not have lighting at night so take a torch. This is a truly unique experience and has a different vibe and feel from Havana. In conclusion this is a must visit and the hotel is superb, and central to restaurants and local attractions.
