"Great little resort!"
I recently traveled to Curacao with my friend and we had a great stay at Bon Bini Seaside Resort! It was centrally located, about 10 minutes from the center of town, right across the street from Mambo beach and 10 minutes from Jan Thiel. The first day, we went food shopping at the local supermarket (5 minutes away) and bought some food for us to cook at the bungalow, which provides pots, pans and cooking utensils. Mambo beach is right across the street, which has a bunch of restaurants and shops. There are a few sections of the beach and it costs about $5 to have a beach chair all day! One of the days, we went to Jan Thiel and got beach chairs ($6 each for the whole day) at the upscale Papagayo resort. There was a beautiful infinity pool overlooking the ocean as well as various restaurants and beach activities. Another day we traveled up north to Shete Boka national park which was BEAUTIFUL and then went to the various beaches on our way back to Bon Bini including Knip beach and a few others. It was about a 45 minute drive to the national park and then 10 minutes to the various beaches. There are also restaurants along the way where you can stop for lunch. Notes: - Bon Bini does NOT provide beach towels, so bring your own! (This and the fact that there wasn't air conditioning in the living area were the only cons of the resort) - There were some ants in the bungalow, but if you spray some bug spray they go away - DEFINITELY rent a car!!!!!!! We were iffy about it (city girls who don't drive often) but it was 100% worth it. You can easily get around by car and it will allow you to have a way better vacation. Mambo beach across the street is nice, but it is nothing compared to the beaches up north or even Jan Thiel. Overall, we had a great stay at Bon Bini!!!! Definitely recommend!
"Above expectations "
Our stay was absolutely fantastic. The staff is very friendly (especially the housekeeper Mientje), the beaches are relatively nearby. The closest boulevard is at Mambo beach and it'll take you only a five minute walk. We rented a car (Jeep) during our stay. It's nice to have the car parked in the driveway of the cabin where we were staying. We highly recommend renting a car because other beaches are rather far away. Though I've heard the public transport is pretty good too so if you're on a tight budget you can go by bus too. Most of the days we spent on other beaches. But we also had a couple of pool days just to relax at the pool of the resort which is very good. Thanks to all of the Bon Bini crew who've made our trip memorable. We certainly will come back!
"Spring Break 2016"
Had a wonderful visit our first time to Curacao and 520 Bonbini Villa was perfect for 2 couples. Beautiful vistas and trade winds, peaceful and quiet. Spent entire time at the villa on the spacious terrace w refreshing pool. Don and Brigitte were so accommodating and we also highly recommend dinner prepared by Olaf and Lisa! Furnishings are comfortable - however beds were rather firm for us. Kitchen had all we needed but is small w very little prep space. All in all a very memorable trip and Coral Estates (safe, gated community) is an ideal location on the island. We hope to return!! Aja...
"Say goodbye to the birds, iguanas, and rabbits at BonBini"
I requested and was guaranteed a Refurbished 1 bedroom apartment. When escorted to the apartment I was told that unit # 218 was a refurbished apartment. It was only a few days later, when a housekeeping person showed me a refurnished apartment that I realized that I had been lied to by the person who took my reservation 5 months prior and by the front desk staff who escorted us to the apartment. As of March 2015, apartment 218 is an old apartment. Despite this, the apartment looks nicer than pictured on their website. The apartment is quite large, however, only the bedroom is air conditioned, so the living room, kitchen, and dining areas are extremely hot (even with windows open) from about 10am until about an hour after sunset. We requested a floor fan, which helped. Hot water is excellent! Beds are comfortable, however the rattan furniture (with thin cushions) in the living room, is quite uncomfortable (old and refurbished units have the same uncomfortable furniture). Each bungalow has its own driveway for parking your car and a large balcony with 2 loungers, patio table with chairs, and a rack for drying clothes. The kitchen is well equipped with full fridge and gas stove, microwave (on request), small coffee maker (refurbished units get a 10 cup coffee maker), toaster, decent pots, with dishes and glasses for 6. There are new countertops in the refurbished units. There is a 32" flat screen TV with cable. Access to Wifi costs $20 per device and their Internet connection is terrible! When Internet access is free and you get a poor connection, one can conclude that 'you get what you pay for', but charging $20 for their lousy Internet is a total rip off. The only place I could get a decent connection was inside the office. There is a medium sized pool. When we arrived the grounds were lovely, with large green spaces as well as areas covered with white stones. However during our stay they covered all the grassy areas with plastic and then brought in truckloads of stone so there are no green spaces on the property. Thus the title of this review; 'say goodbye to the birds, iguanas, and rabbits' that used to feed on the grass and the small creatures in the grass. Sunsets are best experienced on Mambo beach, which is across the road. Daily passes to the beach are provided, though chair rental is extra (5 gilders). Two local grocery stores (Vreugdenhil & Best Buy) provide free daily shuttle service to their stores (M-Sat x2/da, Sun 1/da), so grocery shopping couldn't be more convenient - and you will need to take advantage of this service as the only amenity provided is 2 rolls of TP, hardly enough for a 2 week stay (no dish or handsoap, no shampoo, no coffee filters, etc). Busses and minibuses stop along the street between the hotel and Mambo beach which take you into the Punda for 2.75 gilders.
"Nice but old bungalows"
We had a pleasant stay in november 2013. Unfortunately most of the bungalows were not renovated yet. However, they are situated in a nice garden close to Mambo Beach (get a free daily ticket at the reception) and Sea acquarium. Twice a day a free bus to supermarkets. Bon Bini resort is a small quiet place. A safe place. When you make reservations make sure you get a renovated bungalow.
