"Great location and tons of character"

Had a wonderful visit here, what a lovely and unique hotel! Would definitely recommend this if you want something really different and want to be in town. It's clean and comfortable, and the excellent air conditioning was most appreciated. The two pools are beautiful. The overall location can't be beat, just a few minutes walk from great restaurants and shopping. The staff were all helpful and friendly, and thanks to Gina (if you've read other reviews you've heard of her LOL) for getting us set up with the perfect tour to Klein Curacao and also booking us on shuttle to the sister hotel (highly recommended, we went twice)

"We would stay again"

The Village is unlike anywhere we've ever stayed before. It really does have an old world European feel and although you are right in the middle of downtown, it doesn't feel that way. You can hear noise if you are outside, but it never bothered us in our room. Possibly the air conditioning drown out any noise we may have heard otherwise. It felt like a romantic, quiet, cobblestone lined village and we would stay again, without hesitation. Our room was in the Boca Pool area, on the second floor, with a view across to Punda from our shared balcony. The room was average/small, but with more than enough room for my husband and I to feel comfortable. Our room was pretty and clean, housekeeping was excellent and always done when we returned to dress for dinner and the air-conditioning worked perfectly which was like heaven after the hot days traveling the island. There was a small fridge, kettle, instant coffee replaced every day (which actually wasn't bad and we are coffee snobs) and two available 120 voltage sockets over the desk for our use. As stated earlier, there was a lovely shared balcony area, with a beautiful view of Punda, the cruise ships coming in and a garden area with some beautiful birds below. We visited the local grocery and bought some food and beverages and made our own breakfast and packed a lunch every day. There are two pools, but we only used the Boca pool, every night before bed. It was quite quiet at night and I am afraid my husband and I may have been the rowdy people with our wine and late night swims, but we thoroughly enjoyed the pool. We ate only once in the restaurant/courtyard, upon arrival our first night because we were tired and starving and it smelled so good. The food was good and the courtyard pretty, but there is so much more to do and see outside of the Village, we never ate there again. We rented a car (From D&D Car Rental - highly recommend) and parking was super easy. If you visit the island, rent a car! We saw so much and snorkeled some amazing places. By the time we left, we didn't even need the GPS, we'd become so used to driving around the area. We were within walking distance of everything you want to see in the populated area of Curacao; the bridge, Punda, Rif Fort Village, floating market and more. We spent our days touring the island by car, then evenings walking about Willemstad before heading back for a late night swim. The location is superb for touring. Lastly, the staff were friendly. I can't say they are initially outgoing, but once you start to chat with them, they open up and are super friendly and helpful. Many people assumed we speak Dutch, but once we started speaking English, almost everyone spoke English to us. The man who showed us to our room upon arrival came out to wish us goodbye when we were packing the car. I didn't get his name, but he made us feel very welcome and at home all week.

"Great staff, great location"

I had a wonderful time in Curaçao. Kura Hulanda is centrally located, and priced well. Offers free shuttle service to their lodge in Westpunt, where you have access to Kalki Beach. The staff in otrobanda is also very pleasant. Mariyelena (spelling?) was very sweet and helpful at the onsite restaurant.

"A total delight"

I am a single female who recently traveled to Curacao and stayed at Sonesta Kura Hulanda Village. I had a wonderfully pleasant experience. I loved being steps away from the heart of the action, however, upon entering the hotel property the environment was peaceful and I felt removed from all of the hustle and bustle. I loved the cobblestone walkway throughout the village, which offered an old-world charm. I especially appreciated the fact that there were no hallways to navigate. Each room had its own entrance directly off of the walkway. My room was large, clean, and wonderfully appointed with hardwood furniture, VERY comfortable four-poster bed with high-quality linens, cable TV, in-room safe, mini-refrigerator and coffee/tea maker. The marbled bathroom was very spacious and stocked with great soap, shower gel and robes. My only concern was regarding the footed tub/shower which was quite high to step into. An older person or someone with mobility concerns could have an issue entering and exiting the tub safely. The staff was on point, never missing an opportunity to provide fantastic service. The restaurant offered a wide variety of dishes, although I found the cost of meals here, and throughout Curacao, to be very pricey. There was plenty of outdoor and indoor restaurant areas. The village is home to one of the best slave museums I have toured. It is a UNESCO Heritage site and is well worth the $10/person entry fee. I treated myself to a soothing spa treatment and was not the least bit disappointed. The spa area is clean, serene and the service was top-notch. I would definitely return to this village and would recommend anyone who enjoys a city-based hotel to give this property strong consideration.

"Not impressed anymore"

On August 31, 2016 I travelled with my friend to Curacao. We had our Jazz tickets in hand and all excited. I had to see Level 42 for the third time :) We got in a bit late (what is new with Insel-Air?) but not that late to be in a bad mood. We checked in with a young lady that to my feeling wasn't really listening or could care less. We went to the room and to my surprise got a king bed while I booked double beds. Back at the Front-desk the young lady informed me that their system does not recognize bed categories?!? I could have booked that but it does not mean that I am getting that? The next day she could check and see if they perhaps had another room available for us but for the night my friend could go on a cot or sleep next to me. I had just paid the full bill upfront so leaving was not an option. Plus with Curacao being busy with the Jazz Festival I doubt it would have been an easy task at that time of day to get another suitable hotel. All in all it took us 45 minutes to get to this result; a cot. (My friend had a bad night of course, as she suffers from her back). The next day we had to wait till after 3PM for a room change. The steps going up to the first floor is broken, the telephone isn't working and the door to the room does not lock/close properly. Maintenance came to check the door and showed us how to manipulate to get it closed. Going in was no problem but I really had no desire to go and deal with the reception again. The surroundings really needed some TLC (tender loving care). It wasn't WAW like before.
