Over Country Country

"Country country Negril Jamaica"

Country country Resort made our vacation and my boyfriend’s bday so special. They exceeded my expectations. The manager and the crew are so great. I had an amazing time with them, i asked them to do one thing for me to surprise my boyfriend for his bday and as i said they did a very well and great job. I am pleased with their services. Location of this hotel is great and near to everything we needed. Food and drinks are great too. Beach by itself is amazing! I recommend going to Mayfield if you like to experience the hike up and swim in the river, and Margaritaville is next door if you like to get great margaritas. Everything in Negril Jamaica is very well spent, and exceptional. I want to come back again! I love Jamaica! Respect and One Love mon

"Lovely place to stay, such a perfect trip!"

My boyfriend and I have just returned from a stay at Country Country and we absolutely loved it. If shiny floor, all inclusive hotels are your thing, this probably wouldn’t be for you, but for us it was perfect. We booked a premium room which was on the second floor, a really great space, large bed (likely to singles pushed together I think) with a large terrace with table eating area and comfortable additional seating for lounging around. We ate outside one evening and it was just lovely. There are no windows in the property, just wooden shutters which you could open or close. So nice to feel the breeze when you opened them! There is a ceiling fan and air conditioning, but at the time that we were there in February, we hardly used the air conditioning at all as we felt the fan was enough. I also loved waking up to the sound of all the birds and frogs in the surrounding trees and plants and you couldn’t hear them if you put the air con on! The beach towels system was a little odd, if the housekeeping forgot to leave them for you, it wasn’t that easy to get hold of them, as they didn’t appear to be available anywhere else, despite being told at check in that they would be available at the restaurant. The dining facilities are fairly basic and service can be a bit slow at times (allow plenty of time if you have somewhere to be!) but the breakfasts were excellent and kept us full for the day. Choices such as French toast with maple syrup, eggs any way you like them, omelette, ackee and salt fish traditional breakfast, continental breakfast with toast a cinnamon roll, all were just delicious. The bar area was pleasant enough, we didn’t use it too often, the cocktails were slightly more expensive than other nearby bars and were quite basic, we found better drinks elsewhere, but if you want convenience, its just fine. Location wise, we much preferred this end of the beach, there are some slightly more authentic bars and restaurants on this side, as oppose to the other end where you will find a long line of 4 and 5 star hotels, but with very little going on in the immediate area. The beach is gorgeous, the locals are friendly (they do try to sell you things but they didn’t persist too much) and all the meals we had in the area were delicious. Thanks for a lovely stay Country Country, I hope we will be back some day!

"Total scam "

The room we reserved was not available so they gave us an "upgrade" to a suite where the air conditioner was not working properly. The option they gave us was to "turn on the fan". We accepted to stay the first night with the promise that they would repair the AC the next day. To our surprise, nobody seemed to care as the following day the problem ramained. They didn't even seem to care that I was it a 4 month baby that was sweating through the night because of the lack of air conditioning!

"Simply AMAZING!"

Country Country exceeded our expectations by far and above! Ok, where do I start...it was our first time in Jamaica (will not be last for sure!). We stayed at Country Country for two weeks. My husband stayed for one week and I and our two daughters 15 and 11 stayed for another week there. Fist I fell in love with the pictures of the property. It looked really nice and relaxing. We mostly stayed in all inclusive resorts before but this time I wanted something different with no schedules and no entertainment. Something local, relaxing and beachfront. After reading reviews I booked the trip with Sunwing which was almost a $1000 cheaper than Air Canada for the same accommodation. The package included transfer from and to airport, room and breakfast. I emailed Country Country in advance and asked for the most renovated room. Which we got! We arrived late in the evening and it took around 2 hours to get to the resort. It was last stop on the route. During the ride I started to worry if I made a mistake not booking all inclusive. When we arrived I really regretted picking the non all inclusive option. To my defence it was really dark outside and there were frogs chirping and I have severe fear of bugs that we encountered in our first room. I was ready to cry and told my husband we need another room. Higher up. Which we got! Fast forward to next morning, and the outside looked like a paradise! Breath taking GORGEOUS property. Super relaxed! Beautiful cottages, nice restaurant right on the beach and the best ocean! All four of us fell in love with this place as soon as we could see it :) The staff was super friendly and made our stay really enjoyable. FOOD: We loved having breakfast included and enjoyed the selection very much. Our favourite was Jamaican breakfast, but we really liked everything! We had dinners there most of the nights and even though it wasn't always what was listed on the menu it was always tasty and good! There was one waitress that was a bit odd and would tell us that some of the items are not available when after having a conversation with the chef it was a surprise to him. But it was just a small thing. I would recommend to the management instead of having printed pre set menus, just write whatever chef is making on the board so people won't get surprised when there is a substitution. The food was good all the time! We also tried different places on the beach and on the road. Our favourite was best on the west jerk chicken and conch soup. There are two Patty guys come to sell patties on the beach, as well as guys selling fresh cooked lobsters. Every morning Kevin the fisherman comes to the beach and sells his catch, you can buy it and ask the chef to cook it for you (you need to take care of the chef $) :) there are lots of sellers of fruits. So, if you are wondering where would you get food when you are staying in non all inclusive, trust me it is very hard to go hungry there as there are plenty of options! We bought drinks (beer, pop, juices) in the near by convenience store. The iced water was always available at the bar. The bar makes great drinks as well. ROOMS: The room we stayed in was newly renovated and was very comfortable for all four of us. My concern when I read reviews were windows with no glass! I've never seen it before and I was worried we'll have bugs. Have no fear! I ended up LOVING it! Really! The shutters shut so well, we had no bugs and very few mosquitos. The air conditioner worked great and we enjoyed listening tree frogs while falling asleep. No glass windows no worries! The bathroom was big and modern. No water pressure issues. Everything worked great! The room has a safe, coffee maker and mini fridge where you can store your beer if you are going to buy it from the store. BEACH: The beach was amazing! Pure sand! Super calm ocean. Very kids friendly, with torquise blue water. Oh, I miss it so much! There is a security guard at the beach. Super nice guy! If you want to go on a glass bottom boat ride and do some snorkeling or fishing, parasaling etc. He can help to arrange it for you. He also looks after the guests so they don't get bothered by vendors too much. Most of the vendors are great and friendly though. SAFETY: Not even once I felt unsafe on the property or outside of it. The second week I was alone withy girls and we never felt we need to worry about anything. We walked to the best of the west multiple times in the evening , to the little convenience store and we never had any issues whatsoever! The only issues we had is to react in time on which side of the road to walk :))) they drive on the opposite side of the road :) not an issue for Brits 😀 we've been always well taken care of by the staff , everybody who works there are so super nice! The girls from the reception, cleaning ladies always did an excellent job, bar and restaurant staff and their general manager. GUESTS: Majority of the guests were Europeans. We met great people from Germany, Belgium, Netherlands, Russia. We were the only Canadian family at the time. We loved getting to know other guests every evening at the bar. It was fun and relaxing. CONCLUSION: All four of us agreed that out of all vacations and trips Country Country in Jamaica is by far our favourite. We can't wait to go back!!!!! I am so glad we didn't go to all inclusive! Just a warning though, if you are a big all inclusive fan and love it for all their bells and whistles you won't see it there, so if entertainment is important and unlimited food and drinks and you enjoy marbelled lobbies I would say stick with all inclusive.

"Beautiful Negril -- with beautiful smiles"

What delighted my husband and I most about Country Country was the warmth and friendly helpfulness of the staff. We rented through an II getaway and so stayed in the cottage across the highway from the main hotel, and had our own small kitchen rather than the included breakfast. However, on the mornings we chose to have breakfast in the restaurant, it was wonderful. We loved the banana pancakes! Our rooms were basic and not as pretty, as the hotel area, but the daily maid service kept everything very clean. We also had everything we needed,e.g. TV, AC, microwave, full refrigerator and toaster. We had access to the main hotel grounds and beach which are lovely and very well kept. The beach is beautiful and easy to walk on. The water is shallow enough to feel comfortable taking a dip even if you are not a great swimmer. Overall, it was a wonderful experience for two winter-weary New Englanders.
