"Best vacation yet!"

   21-03-2017
Here is my review of Sandals Negril. We stayed from March 7th-14th. This is our third stay at a Sandals resort, SRC and Beaches Negril being the other two. This was the best stay yet! That is saying a lot from me because we loved our stay at Beaches in 2014 when we took our two boys. I'll start with the arrival at the Sandals lounge at the airport. When we arrived there were at least six other groups that came right before us. I got a beer, went to the bathroom, came out and they were gone. I got another beer and was being told our shuttle was ready. It was quick. We rode with one other couple that was going to Grand Pineapple, so not crowed. The ride was not bad, took about an hour and twenty minutes. We were the only other couple arriving at the time so we were taken care of immediately. Ronoldo help us get a free upgrade and we were in our room within 15 minutes. Ronoldo was helpful and friendly throughout our entire stay. One night we got back to our room the there were flowers on the bed and bottle of champagne, thanks again Ronoldo! We stayed in a Caribbean Premium room with a balcony and a view of the road. We prefer to save the money on room upgrades and spend it on additional nights. The room was nice, cleaned and stocked everyday, not much else to say about it, we weren't in it much. Food: I enjoyed every meal that I ate. We dined at all but Barefoot, we are not big on sea food. We were going to eat there for breakfast one day but never got around to it. Tracey said that she had the best steak of her life at the Bistro one night. I wouldn't go that far but it was very good. A lot of people don't seem to know that the Beach Bistro serves steak and ribs at night! I don't have a lot to say about food, other than I ate a lot and enjoyed every bit of it! Activities: One reason I love Sandals Negril so much was the diving. I love the fact that the dive boat is right on the beach and the dive sites are only 5-7 Jamaican minutes away. The dive crew were all helpful and fun. Captain Cook had an entertaining safety speech each day. Josh was the instructor that I dove with most often. I was good to be near him during the dives because he would always point out things I would have missed otherwise. One day we watched him kill a Lionfish with his knife and another he pointed out a nurse shark that was hanging out under the reef. I have to talk about my dive partner that I met, Tara. Every time I dove she was my partner, Tracey doesn't dive and neither did her husband Tony. Tony did get certified on the last few days they were there, congratulations! Anothe couple that I met were Chris and Amy. They were a lot of fun, we hung out with them a few nights and got hammered. One night in particular was a blast! We were out until 1AM but Chris and Amy were still going strong with some other friends we met from Montreal. The next day they didn't show up for the morning dive and later I found out that they were up until 5:30AM! I can't forget about Tyron. He took us out SNUBA diving one day, that the closest Tracey will get to real diving. She was glad she did it. She said he saved her life, not really she just freaked out when she got water in her mask. I need to talk about the bartenders, because we spend a lot of time at all the bars. Romaine was the first one we met, he was a lot of fun, made great drinks but we didn't see him around too much. Lesean was our next bartender that was also a lot of fun. He said he was employed as casual, so I hope he becomes staff, he has what it takes. Jermaine was on duty a few times and he always had a sounds dirty but it's not riddle for us. Of coarse we met Chris, we heard lots about him, his reputation predeceased him, great bartender. I have talk talk about our favorite photographers, Andrew and Thangefa. One night we had a photo shoot with each of them and it was a blast. After the pictures we were talking to Kimberly and Kimanda, they are apart of the entertainment personel, great singers! We were at the bar near Sundowner and I mentioned that we haven't eaten there yet so they invited us to join them. It was so much fun, we got to hear a little bit about each of their personal lives and got the sense that we were friends and not guests that they were paid to entertain. The weather was fantastic almost the whole time. It rained for about 10 minutes one day and about an hour one other day, that's it. We loved it so much that we booked our next stay while we were there. I'll answer any questions that I can.

"Relaxing stay"

   21-03-2017
We stayed 12 nights in February. I have stayed here 4 years in a row. The room was a 2 story oceanfront butler suite. The food at this hotel is average. The quality of food is not up to same standards as the RIU Palace in Montego Bay, which is a cheaper hotel but yet much better quality of food. The accommodations are above average but the food is not. During a 12 night stay, we had dinner 4 times off the resort. Service is good from the staff.

"10th Sandals Stay & this one is paradise! Butler rooms are the way to go!!"

   21-03-2017
Well what can I say about this place other than it is literally pure paradise!! I felt like I had died and gone to heaven staying here! I am a Travel Agent and this is the 10th Sandals Resort I have been to and the ultimate winner so far! I have just returned from a 2 week trip to Jamaica which involved staying at 3 different resorts, the first in Montego Bay, the 2nd in Runaway Bay and this was our finale and we totally saved the best till last, I had never done Negril before so was excited to see the best beach in Jamaica and one of the best in the world - certainly lives up to it's name! We had complimentary transfers from Montego Bay airport which is a nice benefit for Sandals guests (especially as we hadn't booked a 'package' and had booked everything separately). The drive was just over an hour but beautiful scenery along the way meant we got to check out the island on the way to this resort. Check in was a smooth and easy process - we arrived and were greeted with cold towels and a glass of punch to refresh ourselves, then we had booked a Butler category room so were escorted to their VIP lounge to complete the check in process. We sat there for about 5 minutes and then Orlando (our Butler) came to meet us and show us to our room....we were staying in their Millionaire Suite which just took my breath away!! As a Travel Agent I have seen some stunning accomodations but this was the ultimate winner!! I would definitely not hesitate about booking this category again, it's pricey but totally worth it for what you get in the room. The bedroom itself was huge - big mahogany king size bed, with seating area and fridge stocked with champagne, red stripe beer, juices and water! Full bathroom with separate shower and a jetted tub and then the patio doors led to our own little slice of heaven - our own pool with outside shower, sunloungers and comfy seating area with our own little manicured gardens - totally private and amazing romantic and spoilt! This room is the perfect choice for those celebrating a special occasion, or those who just like the finer things in life!! Really is THE best room I have ever stayed in!! We had room 8101...nicely tucked away so we had our own secret paradise in paradise itself! Orlando is an incredible Butler, he works alongside Gewayne who we spent more of our days with (just based on how their shifts worked). I have stayed in the standard rooms at Sandals as well as Concierge and now this was my 2nd Butler experience and oh my gosh - there is no way I could go back to staying in any other level than a Butler!! Once you experience this I can promise you will never go back!! They really do go out of their way for their guests - we didn't even ask them to do anything for us as I'm not that type of person and would rather not be lazy and get things for myself but that being said they surprised us every day with their exceptional service! Day one when we met Orlando he gave us our cell phone to contact them, and then asked us if there were any restaurants we really wanted to try out, so we mentioned we would love to eat at Kimono's the Japanese restaurant which is the only one you need to make reservations for, and with that he had us booked in for the next night to eat there! Another restaurant we wanted to try was Barefoot by the sea which isn't a reservation restaurant but he still organised a time for us to be there and the other Butler Gewayne met us there to make sure we got a nice table, and got us our favourite drink to start off our meal. One day 1 we had breakfast and were walking along the beach when the Butler cell phone started ringing (totally forgot it was in my handbag!) so I answered it and Orlando said he had reserved some sun loungers for us with our names on, we looked but couldn't find them so he kindly came to meet us on the beach and showed us where our loungers were. They remained in the same spot for the rest of the stay, always under the shade (we could have requested in the sun if we wanted) and they always gave us the latest resort paper to read about what was going on that day, along with our own little cool box packed with bottled water, red stripe beers and lots of ice! They then come over and give you waiter service for drinks which I wasn't expecting, but each Butler seems to have their own section on the beach to look after their guests so it was a good opportunity to meet the other guests who shared our Butlers. Our 2nd day, we arrived back at our room and I cried because the room was decorated so beautifully - flower petals designed all over the bed, with dressing robes placed each side, and a bottle of champagne in the middle of the bed with 2 flute glasses, which then continued into the bathroom - full drawn bubble bath with petals creatively put to make the prettiest design, then a champagne bucket with 2nd bottle of champagne in their and flute glasses - VERY spoilt and very romantic!! FOOD - food here is incredible, I love Sandals resorts as their buffets alone are just the best buffets you could expect for an all inclusive resort - literally EVERYTHING you could want is there! We always dined at the main buffet for breakfast where we met Harry the Peacock (the resort pet) who likes to walk around strutting his stuff to the guests! Barefoot on the beach is a great experience, it's resort dining attire but bare feet are allowed to dine which feels fabulous! Kimono's Japanese restaurant was fantastic - the chefs put on a great show and it's a good way to meet other guests here as you are sat with 2 or 3 other couples. The Pizzeria is great for lunch, they serve the famous Jerk Chicken along with a menu of other snack foods such as burgers and wraps etc. STAFF - the staff here are incredible! I can rave about the Butler service till im blue in the face but the guys at the pool bar are so much fun and make amazing drinks with super quick service, KENDRA who works on the main buffet seating guests to tables is so fun and lovely to speak to, she really looks after you and makes sure all her guests are happy! On our last morning there she came to hug me as I didn't want to go home - just such a genuinely nice girl! The photographers around the resort are also super fun, they will go around snapping people's pictures, telling you how to pose to look the best etc and you can go see and buy your photo's from the snap shop if you wish. ENTERTAINMENT - there is lots to do here both daytime and nighttime for entertainment, we took it easy during the daytime but we saw the main pool area has lots going on - pool volleyball, fashion shows, tie-dye shirt making etc then on the beach are all the water activities included - we did go Paddle Boarding here which was a great experience. At nighttime there is a piano bar which was always popular, and there are also plenty of fire pits lit up at night with plenty of comfy seating around, we spend a few nights here and there was a bar next to our fire pits with a live band and small dance floor so it was a good vibe to sip a cocktail or two whilst listening to the reggae music and then have a dance if you are in the mood. We met some lovely guests at this resort, a whole mix of people from couples in their early 20's to couples in their 50's and 60's. It's a real good friendly resort and you can see why so many guests keep coming back here! I would go back here in a heartbeat and will be booking a Butler category room again next time - it's totally worth it!!

"Not as good as it use to be"

   20-03-2017
We vacationed at sandals Negril early in March this year. This is my 5th stay here dating back to 2000 and I can say this will probably be the last. As stated in recent reviews as soon as you get to the resort photographers are after you to get pictures and this happens almost every day. Having a nice dinner with my girl friend we were annoyed by someone trying to sell us wine. (it never use to be like this) We were given a room on the first floor in the paradise area and the problems were : refrigerator didn't work, AC thermostat would not shut off, phone didn't work, TV remote didn't work the resort maintenance person came and turned the TV on and told my girl friend is was fixed, I ended up taking batteries out of my camera to use the remote. The beach side bistro use to have the best jerk chicken on the island, but has changed its recipe and now is just ok. The other restaurant's are ok with Sundowners being the best. The night time entertainment has really gone downhill, I can remember when there was variety from bands playing to fire breathers, Now it is reduced to a girl singing karaoke. The Piano bar is still the best and the best bar tender is still Christopher. In my opinion $7800 for 10 days is too much for what you get, you can find a better resort in Negril for less money

"Great fun for group of couples"

   20-03-2017
We just returned from Sandals Negril. We were a group of 6 couples from So Cal, Wisconsin and NW Florida. Ages 35-54. Sandals definitely has this down to a science. They are very organized at getting you from the airport to the resort (1.5 hr drive). I strongly recommend doing the online precheck-in to expedite the process when you get there. The food was pretty good, I would not rate as excellent, but definitely good. Best food was at the Cucina Romana and Kimonos (make your reservation upon arrival). My husband got a specialized stone-fired pizza from the pizzeria everyday. The drinks are great but there is NO top shelf liquor (i.e. grey goose, patron etc.). Fitness gym has enough equipment to get in a decent 60-90 min workout. Spa services are kinda pricey, but excellent. My husband and I both received outstanding massages. You can go in and use the steam and dry saunas anytime free of charge. The property was immaculate, always people cleaning 24 hours a day somewhere. I see many people comment about the beach vendors harassing them, this was not the case with us. Beach patrol follow most of the vendors. A simple "no thank you" and they nodded and continued on their way. Yes there are also vendors trying to sell weed (it is decriminalized there), but the same thing, say no thanks and they move on. Hedonism 2 is next door, so there are times when a couple may wander over topless and such to strut along the beach. The pool and evening entertainment staff were great. They work hard to get people engaged in activities and let loose to get the most out of their time. I would have to say one of the greatest things, outside of the beauty that is Jamaica, is the service Sandals provides. So many of the staff are just professional and wonderful. They go out of their way to make sure you're happy. Cleveland brought our group cheeseburgers and fries on silver platters at 1 am all the way out to the piano bar because he heard us say we were hungry. Delford was so entertaining at dinner each time we went to barefoot, had us all laughing and smiling. Danyia was so elegant and kind to us at our private group mixer on the beach our first night. The photographers Kenron and Tandria were amazing at capturing the essence of our trip day and night. The chef in the bayside who prepares omelettes at the omelette bar is on point, fast, efficient and she's always so polite. Lois was superb for trekking out in the heat to bring us 12+ drinks at a time each day to the beach. Jenoy was a great poolside bartender who remembered our drinks and kept them full all day. Shaunette and Sandra were true sweethearts at the martini bar. If you've never been to a Sandals before, definitely go and definitely take the catamaran tour out to Rick's and Margaritaville. If you're already booked...Pack plenty of bathing suits, cover ups and summer dresses for evening wear. Take bug spray and lots of sunblock (lots of little sand fleas or gnats that bite as well as a few mosquitos in March). Most of all remember you're on vacation, and don't be in a hurry. Jamaican time is much slower pace than in the US, so have patience. The people and scenery are beautiful. You're gonna love it!
