Over Kenai Princess Lodge

"Excellent for a 3-4 star property. Not a 5* but is amazing in a class of its own"
The location is great (somewhat). Beautiful location over the Kenia river but nothing is close in proximity and the lodge does not provide any type of shuttle unless you are paying to go on their excursions. which strongly advertises for Princess that do it yourself cruise tour is likely a better option for some rather than being stranded at their property or having to pay $30-50 each time you leave. I would have preferred to have a rental car here vs being on Princess cruisetour. There is a lot to do in the area but it is scattered about the area. Stained carpets. Foul smelling carpet in the transition to bathroom/toilet. Beautiful porch overlooking grassy area- but many of the rooms have this same view- just over looking other lodge rooms with grass. Room was the largest out of the four lodges we stayed at. They kept getting smaller and smaller LOL- Kenai- Copper River- Denali- Fairbanks. Room was a bit of a hike away from main part of the lodge. Biggest downfall that was a fairly big negative for me that I have now taken my 4* down to a 3* is as part of the cruise tour we were mandated to have bags out by 645. Breakfast started at 0700. There were 2 bus loads of connoisseur cruise tour guests that have prepaid breakfast vouchers for full breakfast. both busloads of people has to show up for Breakfast at 0700 and be out by 0740 fish to catch bus to next destination. There were at least 40+ people lined up at 0700 to be seated for breakfast. They offered buffet breakfast but when I have signed up for connisseur cruiseetour and a hefty $$$. I don't want old food from a buffet. If I knew I was going to be forced to have buffet options as many times as we did I would have seriously reconsidered. If the bus must leave at 0800- the restaurant should open earlier or we should leave later. It felt like a complete cattle call. The property is beautiful. Flowers immaculate. The lodge managers are outstanding. When I tried pre booking some excursions I was told we could have pick ups at lodge until they found out where we were staying and some of the tours said no sorry we aren't allowed to pick up from there. Is princess really telling the tours that they cannot pick up customers when there is only one taxi cab for the entire area and everything is so spread out or was this possibly not true? I am not sure. Also jacuzzi was closed for repair
This was our favorite place to stay on our Alaska tour. The cabins are separated from the main lodge, which I liked. The rooms are spacious with a fire burning stove and patio. Shuffleboard and horseshoes are available (but do need a little upkeep). The location in the Kenai area is gorgeous. The whole family enjoyed this lodge immensely. Front desk had excellent recommendations for offsite excursions.
"Lovely and enchanting"
This is by far the nicest princess lodge. In fact, it really is in an altogether different class. The location is remote, wild and gorgeous. You will find the lodge and environs very quite. I drank in the solitude and stillness. I was able to lay in bed at night on my left side and stare out the glass doors at the mountain peak. The peak still had snow in May and some light still lit up the mountain at midnight! I was enchanted! Take tour with a local guide of the local town Cooper's landing to learn about a close knit and small community. The onsite dining is has a wonderful view of the ice blue river water colored by glacier run off and silt.
Had lunch at the Kenai Princess Lodge and everything including the beautiful views of the Kenai river and the food was excellent. I would highly recommend stopping here. I live in Seward, AK where prices on avg. for meals is higher and portions considerably smaller than at the Kenai Princess. Portions here were good and food quality was very good!
"Great Place to Stay"
We had an enjoyable experience at the Wilderness Lodge. The room rate was very reasonable. We had 3 adults in one room and the rooms were large enough to not only accommodate us, but all of our luggage, too, without being cramped. The beds were comfortable, the outside porch offered scenic views, and the property provided several trails along the Kenai River. The lodge also had surprisingly good food. I would definitely stay here again if I even return to Cooper Landing. I enjoyed everything about our stay.
