"After hell (Irma), stay at the Pink Shell (bliss) ;-)"

I'll get straight to the point: We stayed at the Pink Shell Resort a few days after Irma hit FL (we checkin in on Thurs, 9/14/17 and checked out on 9/17/17). Our original plan (before IRMA was imminent) was to stay at another resort (planned vacation) on the West Coast of FL. Our vacation was ruined due to IRMA. After IMRA hit, and after staying with our friends far too long afterwards, we needed some much needed R&R. Our previous resort was not open for business after the storm, but the Pink Shell was. So we made our reservations and checked in. As soon as we arrived at the Pink Shell, the Valetjj team opened my car door, and we experienced the best customer service from that point on; all throughout our stay. They made us feel important and luxurious. The entire staff welcomed us w/ concern, consideration, love and smiles as we approached the check-in area. The check-in process was flawless and they made sure our room was ready immediately. From the perfectly cleaned and accommodating room we had (w/ a perfect beach view), to the gift shop, valet parking professionals, front desk pros and mgmt, clean/fun pool, delicious food (lunch/dinner) at Bongos/Jacks and their breakfast accommodations (which was exceptionally stellar, omelet bar, hot and continental 5-star breakfast); Pink Shell made us forget the horrible experience of Irma and made us feel "MORE than at home and relaxed" during our stay w/ them. It is rare to find an experience from beginning to end that is stellar, and the Pink Shell is just that, stellar. I highly recommend this resort to anyone who is looking to get what they pay for, with highly experienced professional staffing, impeccably clean accommodations and care, awesome food and drinks and activities for their guests. Specifically, "Heaven" (front desk professional), "Raquel" (front desk professional), "John Blankenship, Mgmt) and "Mario" from valet services made us feel extra special during our stay. Thank you guys so much for taking care of my mother and I after Hurricane Irma. I will never forgot how special you made us feel after the storm. Thank you. Rob Steinberg

"Beautiful, peaceful 4 day getaway"

Short version: The good -> Lovely pool which you can use well into the evening, amazing and well-kept beach, chairs and umbrellas included and there were plenty of them, beach service, water was wonderfully warm, smart wristband system, decent on-site food, amazing naturalist, and swimming alongside dolphins!! N.B. - I slacked a bit on uploading my review, which was sitting around for a while, this trip was actually in September of 2016. The not so good -> Water was definitely not clear or blue like you see in the photos, water sports launch area was right near the beach chairs making collisions a real threat, not the best breakfast buffet Full review: The Room: After an early morning flight into Ft. Myers, we pulled up to the complimentary valet and were able to check in early in the White Sands building, which delighted us. We were told we would have two complimentary breakfasts and were given wristbands instead of keys and that’s a great idea, you needn’t worry about losing them, they’re waterproof and you can use them to charge to the room. We opened the door and immediately to our left was the bathroom. It was an odd, trapezoidal shape but was spacious enough for 2, including the shower. There was a water closet, which I really love having that separation and privacy. Opposite the bathroom was a nook for the washer and dryer – I enjoy not having wet bathing suits and dirty socks stuffed in my luggage. The kitchenette followed, having everything you’d need including coffee maker, microwave, and dishwasher. On the counter were 2 bottles of water and a tote bag which was a nice surprise. The best part of our room was the view, especially from the screened in balcony. On the 9th floor, we had a great view of the beach and large floor to ceiling windows let in tons of light. The furnishings were decent enough with the exception of the couch – that couch was just plain uncomfortable and the texture was horrible. No complaints about the king size bed. There were two televisions, but I think it would be great to have smart TVs instead so we can stream videos on nights with bad weather. The beach: Really quite nice but my husband and were both disappointed that the water wasn’t very clear or blue. Really, the only word that came to mind was murky. The murkiness, however, didn’t stop us from spending hours in the water. Contrasting the ocean water, the sand was white and very clean. Each morning, staff was out there combing the beach and setting up the beach chairs, large blue loungers placed in 2s with a small table between them. Little red flags can be hoisted to call someone over for service on the beach but each day we were out there, someone was checking in with us and seeing if we were ok or needed anything. The beach is a very short walk from the building and when you return to the resort’s gated area there are showers to get the sand off. One large issue that I had with the beach, however, was the water sports launch area – sandwiched between two beach chair areas. For those of us who swim, I would have preferred having a swimming only area where you’re safe from getting smacked on the head by a paddle boarder or worse, a wave runner. I highly suggest grabbing chairs on the outside, furthest from the launch area to be safe and comfortable. After reading about stingrays, we were sure to practice the “Stingray Shuffle” but to be honest; I didn’t see or disturb any – that doesn’t mean they weren’t around. We also both wore water shoes which helped to alleviate some of my apprehension about getting stung. There were fish swimming around and a large variety of birds. Dolphins were swimming just a few feet from where we were splashing and it was truly a magical moment. If you’re lucky, you may be able to find a really nice conch shell but know that people are out there early, so our pickings were kind of slim. There are dark brown wooden walkways to the beach and I made the mistake of trying to walk on them barefoot – not a great idea. I think the resort could benefit by placing something down to mitigate that heat, flip-flops are a must. Food: We ate on the second floor above Bongos. I can’t recall seeing a name but when you approach the hostess, ask to be seated upstairs. A lovely breeze passes through the covered dining area with ceiling fans and it is a great place to cool off after playing at the beach all day. You may want to bring up your towel with you because I found myself suffering from butt sticking to the chair syndrome. The wait staff was courteous and pleasant. We saw the tables being wiped down from top to bottom, which I appreciate, providing good maintenance and cleanliness. The menu had several options for a little resort snack place and the blueberry drink is delicious. The seafood was cooked perfectly, even the fried foods weren’t heavy or soggy – their French fires could be a little better but that’s me being picky. Their flatbread options are more filling than you would expect at first glance. It really suited our needs and we ate lunch there every day we were there. There is a restaurant but we didn’t eat there. We did not have the best experience at the breakfast buffet. You can enter the buffet area from the beach and there was no one to guide us through the process. Find a staff member to help you get started – I wish they had directed us there or had some sort of sign to let us know. We didn’t realize this and we felt sheepish and uncomfortable when someone finally helped us at a table. A simple sign would save others from the same experience. The food choices were limited and the quality of the food there didn’t match the little snack shack. I don’t expect a lot but it should taste ok and be hot – my home fries were soggy and cold. I know it’s a buffet, but still. Activities: Here, I can’t be too much help because we didn’t partake of any of the activities. They offer dolphin tours and kayaking, for example. As mentioned above, they also have a few non-motor water sports and the wave runners. One activity we participated in, however, was meeting with the naturalist. You couldn’t pick a better person to help educate and inform people about the native wildlife. I even won a shell for solving a puzzle! The naturalist was able to help us identify some of the shells we found as well as helping us solve the problem of the giant floating string beans – which I won’t spoil here. I couldn’t recommend him higher, for adults and for kids. Due to the cloudy evening, they weren’t able to do the stargazing. There was a wedding on the beach during our stay and from what we saw of it, it was beautiful. The resort itself isn’t far from the Times Square area of the town with shopping and food – and the parking seemed limited. There is a trolley to get you around the island. Overall, we had a very pleasant and relaxing experience at the Pink Shell. I would consider going back again and definitely want to further explore the Ft. Myers Beach area.

"Made to feel very special"

We only came for 4 days at the end of a trip to Orlando (back in April). It was a longer drive than I'd been expecting from Orlando, but we came through the interior of Florida which was quite an experience. It was SO worth it when we got there. Nothing was too much trouble, we were made to feel like we really mattered - staff even remembered my name. The 'room' (more of a 1 bedroom apartment if you are a Brit like us) was well kitted, superbly clean, and to a high spec. The views over the gulf are lovely, the restaurant pleasantly up market in the evening and an amazing breakfast buffet for all in the morning. Quite expensive (especially with the pound-dollar exchange at the time), but you really get what you pay for here. .. you can even have a personal order of food and drink brought out to you on the beach. I would particularly like to mention Zac - one of the concierge staff, who helped us settle in, and gave us some great information about the local area, the wider area, the hotel itself and even explained the different tipping cultures in different parts of the states. Thank you to all for a great time.

"Beach Weekend getaway"

Had not been to this hotel in 10 years, so was pleasantly suprised. had a room in one of the out buildings near the adult pool. Had a great big balcony that was screened. Breakfast was included in our package, very busy but many good options with excellent prompt service, Had beach chairs set up with umbrellas no beachside service, but plenty of poolside and outdoor dining options.Little slice of paradise, tons of families and kids - but they have a separate pool. Room was spacious, nothing amazing but had little kitchenette. Standard linens had to walk over to main hotel to get beach/pool towels, slightly inconvenient but not unreasonable. Would def go back.

"Great stay overall!"

My husband & I stayed here for 4 nights beginning of Sept. We partially chose this resort because of the reviews & because it offered free breakfast. I think other hotels could take a lesson from the Pink Shell in what they include in their resort fee. Free parking or free valet, $15 drink credit for Bongos, beach towels, breakfast included, beach chairs & umbrellas, some non motorized water sports, WiFi, a complimentary beach bag, and 2 bottles of water are all included in their resort fee (there may be others but these were the most important to us.) We recently stayed at a hotel in Orlando that charged a $21.95 a night resort fee that didn't include breakfast, parking, or a drink credit. So Pink Shell does a very good job at what they offer in their resort fee price. We were upgraded rooms for free and the room was like a small apartment. Was so glad to see a washer & dryer in our room and a full kitchen! The furniture was a little dated in the room but not a big deal to us. The pool & beach here are both really nice although I didn't frequent the pool at all during our stay. They also had beach drink service! Husband and I got pina coladas on the beach with our drink credit. I really like the idea of the wristbands. This was so convenient to not have to always remember if I had my room key with me or not. Breakfast at Jacks was really good although if I had to pay $32 a day for that breakfast, I would expect more. Convenient location to the times square area and right on the beach. Overall we had a great stay here and would return if ever in the area.
