"Bad for us, sad for them"

We’ve stayed here before and couldn’t believe what awful service we encountered from the reception and valet on this last trip. This is a nice quiet spot and we like the hotel a lot. Been here a few time as we are local and when family comes to town we get a couple of apartments at the Pink Sea Shell, and don't have to be trapped in our house. This last time we went for my mother’s birthday. Turned out to be very disappointing. Let’s remind everyone this isn’t a $100 a night hotel this is a $400 a night hotel. Check In – This is where they failed miserably, the gentleman can’t remember his name was just plain out rude and unprofessional. As I stated earlier we have been here few time for our family visits or just the wife and I staycations. Normally we have a big group and get two rooms. This time it was my sister, my mom, the wife and I. Both my mother and sister live out of town so they both drove a vehicle, the wife and I drove a vehicle. I asked for 3 parking the young lady Molly said let me check if we can do that, she turned to the gentleman and he just said I heard it no we can’t. Long rude conversation afterward he said we can park down the road at the marina @ $25 per night, if we like. We spoke some more and he gave me a third parking pass. I thanked him and off we went like he wanted us. I get it they were busy, still not ok. Valet – This is always a clown show but we don’t mind much as we usually don’t get rooms in the main building. Typically after check-in, we use the spots of the building we are staying in and can park ourselves. This last visit we got stuck in the main building, it was a busy weekend, with just one elevator a 3 rude valet attendants and it was horrific. Room – decent rooms a little dated, this room had very little to no cooking utensils, one pot, and one serving spoon. Luckily we are local and I went to the house and picked up a couple of pots. Jacks – breakfast was ok not worth price after the complimentary ones. Bongos – no real complaints here, but the bartenders were real quick to close up, even with 8 guests there, I get it they don’t need the money. Checking Out – they missed the comps for the breakfast, we had food on our bill that wasn’t ours, and we had to get all that changed, no biggie people make mistakes. Here is the kicker they ended up charging for the third parking pass $24.95, unaware of this let’s just say I was upset. Then they charged us $5 dollars per key fob/bracelet, we have never been charged for that before. Isn’t all this part of the resort fee? Are the bracelets not our room key? It was again just a soup sandwich all the way around. Overall, I’d give our stay a C-/D+. The rudeness of the staff, the penny pinching of the hotel, although I think it was the gentlemen that both checked us in and out that added the additional charges on the bill, just a theory. It is what it is, the Pink Sea Shell would be a last resort if nothing else is available on any of the islands, I would prefer to drive north to Siesta Key or St. Pete before going there again. The Wyndham has a hotel in the center of the island we would much rather be there and I get rewards for it.

"Their motto "The only thing we overlook is the beach" is spot on!"

We went on a girls' trip for four nights in April. We were not only surprised at how nice our room was and whole resort but it exceeded our expectations! You can get to the beach in 3 minutes from your room, they leave you a beach bag and water to take with you and if that weren't enough the umbrellas, chairs and beach towels are FREE! We didn't even have to get up - they come by and take drink and food orders the whole day. The outside restaurant and bar had a great menu and the breakfast buffet was awesome! If you do feel the need to leave the resort a FREE tram is available to take you to restaurants, music and shops. We loved it so much we scheduled another trip for the end of September!

"Pink Shell Beach Resort"

We recently stayed at the Pink Shell Beach Resort in the Main Building. We stayed for about a week. We really enjoyed our stay there. We typically do not return to the same location twice for vacations, just to experience other places/cities. I largely rely on trip adviser when making those decisions. Here is a list of some of the things that stood out to me to help others who are considering this destination Pros: -This is the first resort I have been to where you do not have to wake up early and save a beach chair. They set up and take down beach umbrellas , table, and chairs daily. I believe the times for chairs are from 9am-6pm. Although if you are sitting in them around 6pm they won't ask you to leave, however they do start putting the ones that are not claimed up. -Free Breakfast Buffet (for 2 people) - The buffet at Jack's Farm to Fork was really good, although often there was quite a bit of a wait when we got there. I do recommend eating outside as it provides much better ambiance. Inside seems crowded and decor seemed a little dated, but dining outside was perfect! If you want to purchase another buffet for additional travelers I think the regular cost was around $17.95-ish. All the servers were nice and in particular Nic (the guy with the fun surfer wave hair) went above and behind in service and would always offer to take a picture of your party at the table if you wanted. Tip: Ask for juice or soda to go so you can have it later on in the day. -Free $15 drink credit -Use of kayak's and paddle boards (free) -Sunsets were amazing every night! -Complementary Valet parking which was very convenient (just be sure to bring some cash to tip the drivers) All the Valet attendants were very nice, efficient, and provided good info on places to go. -Housekeeping did a wonderful job....we would leave for breakfast and when we returned everything was clean, towels restocked, and bed made. -Outdoor furniture was replaced during our stay.....the new pieces look beautiful. (The old ones were wicker and had mold/mildew or dirt in between the wicker weaving....so I was glad to see the upgrades made! I believe the indoor furniture in the main building was recently updated too. -Green wrist bands are given instead of room keys which make everything easier! -Lots of shells on the beach (you do not need swim shoes, but might be nice to have because sometimes you would step on a sharp broken shell.) -This resort caters to families so if you are bringing your kids, this resort would be your best choice of places in the area. -Most everything in the Fort Meyer's Beach area is very casual and relaxed atmosphere....don't worry about dressing up for dinner out, most people did not. -This resort looked like one of the nicest ones on Fort Meyer's beach! -Full Kitchen in your condo/unit Cons: - Water quality/color/clarity- I know this is out of the resort's control....however it is important to note that if you are looking for light blue water/turquoise water this is not the place. When we were there (beginning of June) the water was murky and looked like lake water (was not expecting that!)....yellowish/green/brown when you were swimming in it, I literally could not see anything in the water. It seemed dirty (the water not the beach). However, the water did seem clearer right by the shore as you could see your feet through the water when walking on the shore. I saw something on the news about Lake O contributing to murky waters in the area.....but I am not sure on that. To be honest....probably would have chosen a different place based on that factor alone as we ended up just driving to Captiva Island to find a beach with the water color we were looking for-bright turquoise blue. Good news is that Captiva is not too terribly far away so it wasn't a big deal. Never the less sunsets were always stunning and the beach well taken care of. -Spa looked dated (teal carpet) -Everything in the area seemed a little pricey- Wave-runners rented on the beach by Holiday Water Sports was $79 for 30 minutes......we have traveled extensively in Mexico, St. Lucia, Dominican Republic, and the Florida Keys. This was much more expensive than other places we have traveled to. So I would budget more than what you think you will need in all areas....food and activities. When we said something about it being pricey....one of the guys by the valet area said "Welcome to Fort Meyer's Beach"- meaning everything is more expensive here. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Recommendations for places to eat: Doc Ford's- Best Key Lime Pie and delicious Yucatan shrimp tacos Love Boat Ice Cream: Try the Oatmeal Cream Pie Ice Cream....so unique and delicious.....be warned there "small" size (only $5.50) is 4 scoops of icecream in a waffle cone! Junkanoo's on the beach- half price pizza on Tuesdays!- Was our dinner and then the leftovers were lunch the next day. The Bubble room- On Captiva Island- this place is an experience to say the least! Look it up....some of the best cake is found here! Recommendations for stuff to do: Backwater Adventures: Craig Cat (Motorized Catamaran) off site Smuggler's Cove mini golf- impressive mini golf place and you can pay more to feed baby alligators they have there....very fun! Visit Sanibel and Captiva Island (there is a $6 toll road to get there)

"Excellent Resort!"

Great family resort. It's maintained extremely well. We had a 2 bedroom with kitchen and living area that was very spacious with an amazing view. The hotel staff was top notch. I would definitely recommend and stay again. Ft. Myers beach is pretty, but not as nice a others. With that said, the Pink Shell rakes the beach in front of their resort daily and it's definitely the best in the area. We had a great experience on the jet ski dolphin trip. The guides did a nice job keeping up with the various skill levels in the group and everyone had fun. The pools are great and the pool side service is convenient. They did a good job keeping up with guests. Bongo's restaurant service itself was a little slow, but there are all kinds of options.

"Amazing Resort"

Our stay at the Pink Shell started with the most welcoming valet and front desk staff. We hosted 100 out of town guests for our wedding and it was beyond anything we could have ever expected. Every member of their team went above and beyond to not only meet but anticipate every need. They were on top of every detail. We had the best time and can not wait to return year after year to relive the most perfect day of our lives.
