Over Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club

Very nice resort, great service, confortable roms, great drinks and food by the pool was amazing. Room service was very nice on time and got the order right everytime. Great beach abd easy to get to town and other restaurants.
"Stayed here the night before our cruise, well worth it!"
This property is a little older but is in very good condition and its age had no negative impact to me. This place might also have the biggest beach you will find, it was huge! Our room had two doubles and a pull out couch in the den. The beds were a little small but not a big deal. The room was very comfortable, had nice TV's, strong AC and a fabulous view. There are a couple of places to eat on site, the large restaurant was good. There is also a convenient type store with a wide variety of goodies. The pools are great and the grounds are just wonderful. Maybe the best part was the staff, excellent service from the front desk to the restaurant to the pool area. I would go back when we travel out of Ft. Lauderdale again.
"Great family beachfront hotel"
Stayed at Lago Mar for 4 days in July after returning from Peru. Party of 7 with an 11 and 13 year old in 2 suite. The pool is wonderful and warm. It can be crowded with small children, so this is not for people looking for an adults only type experience. The beach is fantastic, and it can be really hot so definitely consider renting an umbrella! We loved the poolside bar, our favorite bartenders were Michelle and Seth, and Nicole on the beach! The food at the poolside bar was fantastic, loved the blackened fish tacos. Great location off the strip, but walkable or uber to the strip. Highly recommend for families vacationing in Ft Lauderdale.
"Beautiful and Classy"
We had a really great time here for 2 nights prior to our cruise. the resort was beautiful, live entertainment each evening at the pool, nice beach, chairs, umbrellas, pools. also had mini golf, shuffle board, ping pong and a variety of food. Very good place for families as was evident by the number of them staying there. Quiet location. Can't wait to return.
"Beautiful location, fun and convenient for families"
This was our first shot at a resort-style family vacation, and Lago Mar was a success. Yes, it costs more than other, big-name locales up the beach, but it's a prime example of getting what you pay for. And what we got was a hassle-free, relaxing stay on beautiful grounds by a private beach. Parking was included, and it was always easy to find a covered spot, which was a big plus. Rooms: We had a clean (yes, clean!), spacious deluxe suite with full kitchen that had a king bed and a couch with two pull-out twin beds -- perfect for a family with young kids. We had an amazing view of both the lagoon pool and resort grounds and the beach from our window and balcony. Noise was minimal, though you can hear the floor above you if they're stomping around. The kitchen was just enough space to make our breakfasts and picnic lunches, and it was a great place to stash snacks and drinks. Just one thing I noted that families with little ones should know: Our room door was easy to open from the inside, as it didn't have a swing lock to prevent our toddler from pulling on the door handle pushing it outward to head out on his own. And our suite opened directly to the outside breezeway! We caught him the first time he tried to do it and simply blocked the door for his safety, but it wasn't ideal. Not sure if all the rooms/suites have this issue, but it's worth noting. Resort food: We tend to do our own thing, scouting out local restaurants and making our own meals, but we did try some of the on-site offerings on the night we arrived. We ate one meal poolside at the Promenade Bar and the food and drinks were meh. We also stopped at the Soda Shop for ice cream cones and popsicles, though what we had was sort of standard fare you'd find at a convenience store. In both cases, it was clear the value was in the convenience of not having to pile the family into the car and leave the resort (especially when you're at the end of a long travel day and everyone is just. too. tired.). For others like us who usually DIY with food, great restaurants are a just short drive away. And there are plenty of nearby groceries, including a Trader Joe's, which makes it easy to stock the kitchen and be ready when a hangry kid exclaims, "What do we have to eaaaaat?" Pool/beach/etc.: The lagoon pool was great for the kids, though the chairs can fill up fast, especially the ones in the shade. Though that might not matter if you're just going to be in the pool the whole time. Getting to the beach couldn't have been any easier. The free beach chairs were plentiful and they worked just fine for us, and in the afternoon, they actually provide just the right amount of shade while you're watching the waves. Umbrellas and cabanas are available for an extra fee, but we never used them. All the onsite amenities were great, too -- our family made good use of the playground and hammocks, shuffleboard, mini golf and foosball table. These all sound like simple things, but they were great ways to spend quality time together. We also hired the resort photographer, Michael Holmes, for a family photo session on the beach one morning. He was very accommodating, and we got some great photos from his session. If you're thinking about doing photos, you might wish to contact the resort before your stay to schedule a session, because he seems to book up quickly. People: Resortgoers were a mix of young families and retirees, from all over the world. The staff we encountered were all courteous and helpful, and everyone seemed to be conscientious about their work, from the front desk to the bar to the custodial crews. Their presence was not overbearing, as you might expect in a hotel, but they were there whenever something was needed. All in all, this family-owned place is worth a try if you've ever considered a family resort-style vacation. We can see why people come back year after year!
