Over Lago Mar Beach Resort & Club

"Wow! Outstanding...perfect in every way!"
After a week in the Florida Keys celebrating our Silver Anniversary, we thought it best to have a relaxing "night/morning stay before departure early afternoon from FLL"...Picked Lago Mar and love, love, loved it! It was like walking back in time to "old Florida" - a beautifully maintained Floridian hotel with gorgeous decor', grounds, pools and of course - the beach...picture perfect scenery right out of a Hollywood movie! It will now be our "go to" hotel for any visits through Fort Lauderdale. And the Staff... outstanding! Your the Best Lago Mar! 25th Anniversary Couple from Delaware
"One of the reasons Ft. Lauderdale is our favorite spot!"
My husband and I went to Ft. Lauderdale for a quick weekend. Lago Mar was beautiful. Our room was very clean and bed was very comfortable. The room has every amenity you would need. Breakfast buffet was great. So many options. Our waiter was very attentive. Lunch at the pool bar was also very good. The food was excellent but the bartenders could have been a little more attentive. We had to get their attention every time we needed a drink or to order food. We felt like they definitely paid more attention to the resort members than those visiting. The other small issue was with the WiFi. It really didnt work well at all so could not use our devices. We did not let this affect our weekend. Lago Mar is the place to stay hands down in Fort LAuderdale.
"First time at Lago Mar"
We checked in early after getting off the cruise ship and the front desk was very accommodating, the bellman took our bags and the front desk offered to call when our room was ready. The hotel reminded us of old Florida in a good way.Unfortunately for us it rained the entire day so we were not able to enjoy either one of the two pools or the beautiful beach. The location is beautiful and the grounds are gorgeous. Once we went to our room we were very happy. The room was large and the beds were queen size. The bathroom was a nice size as well. Our room had an adjoining door so we were part of a larger suite if you needed one. The property has a gift shop and an ice cream shop. The only downside of lago Mar is that it's a little out of the way. We were a large party and we would have had to get a large taxi or a few so we were limited to what and where we went. Overall it was a very nice stay and we would definitely stay here again.
"Ready to Come Back"
3rd visit with 4th being planned for February. Love the beautiful beachfront and pool areas. Great service- met by Kevin who handled the car and made sure we knew everything the resort offered plus THE places to go or eat if we chose to leave the property. Dined at 15th St Fisheries one night- good food and loved the location watching all the boats sail by plus feeding the tarpons hanging out there. Ate rest of our meals on site. Had a delicious dinner - surprised by wonderful conch chowder. Our waiter Daniel was great. Started off on outside patio table but chose to go inside and stayed late talking with friends. Daniel accommodated all of our needs- never rushed us plus had great recommendations and service. Nice basic breakfast in the soda shop- greeted early by Maria with a great smile and wonderful service plus cooked our breakfast to perfection. Never been disappointed here- staff has been great from front desk to housekeeping to bar staff. A few exceptions here and there where people did not seem happy to be there but that was the exception rather than the rule. Looking forward to coming back!
"3rd Time...Still as good as the first time"
I rounded up the moms (40 to 50 y/0) again for our bi-annual trip to Ft Lauderdale for Mother's Day. In 2013 there were three of us. In 2015 there were four...and in 2017 (5/11 to 5/15) we expanded to a group of 6! That meant we needed a much bigger room. After looking at the options, I went with the 2 bedroom oceanside room. It comfortably sleeps 6 - 1 king bed (bedroom 1), 2 twin beds (bedroom 2), and a pull out sofa that is really two separate twin beds. Everyone said her bed was extremely comfortable - even the pull out twin beds. There were 2 bathrooms and a small kitchenette (microwave, refrigerator, toaster, dishes) that was perfect for allowing us to have breakfast in the room and snacks. We purchased a styrofoam cooler and had them fill it with ice every day. That gave us extra space for storing Mommy beverages. We had lunch at the pool grille (turkey burgers are awesome!). Michael was our server/bartender and he took great care of us. We also caught up with Seth again at the promenade bar for happy hour (50% off drinks Mon - Thurs from 5 to 7). Nicole was still working the pool and beach area taking drink orders (sadly not as frequently at the beach this year we saw her a total of twice out of 4 days). We took full advantage of the free chairs available at the beach. Set them up right at the water's edge and there is a great breeze that balances out the heat. Love it! There is free self or valet parking. The wifi is very spotty - and we had very bad television reception during the one storm. That leads me to the worse part of our trip. On Mother's day, we were lounging at the beach. Out of nowhere, these black bugs took over the entire beach. I heard they were called love bugs. We DID NOT love them. They cleared the beach faster than a rainstorm. They were all over the beach, the pool areas, the pool grille - just everywhere. It's the first time we have ever seen them. It rained about an hour later and they all apparently died after that. Gross and weird! Kudos to the guy who delivered ice, housekeeping, Ehrich at the front desk, Seth and Michael. There were a lot of new faces on property this year too. Most were always smiling but the aforementioned were the standouts. The best part of Lago Mar this time was the amazing location and the view from room 480. At different times of the day, we each had private time to sit on the balcony to enjoy the view and clear our minds. I'm an early riser so I would drink my coffee, read a book and watch the sun rise every morning. Simply amazing. We will definitely return to Lago Mar in 2019.
