Gelegen aan een ongerept stuk strand is dit een populair resort voor een ideale vakantie in Florida. U loopt zo vanuit het hotel het 90 meter lange privé-strand op voor een duik in de oceaan. Op een ligstoel bij de twee beachfront zwembaden en drie jacuzzi's is het heerlijk ontspannen. Het restaurant Lido Beach Grille met panoramisch uitzicht op de oceaan en Sarasota serveert u dagelijks heerlijke gerechten. Laat u vooral de verse visgerechten smaken. "Everything is fine, but what a $"

Stayed in high season, resort fees, taxes and suite fee along with happy hour consumables ended at $700+/night. Lovely facility but oh my do they value their location and position. I'd like to say the experience was worthy. Suite was pretty nice though.


I was planning a bachelorette trip months ahead of time and spent a lot of time researching hotels. When I first tried to book Lido Beach, I called because I had lots of detailed questions about the resort that were important to us from the view, to the size of the room, location in the hotel, etc... We had 13 ladies all over the age of 35, most married with kids and do not get to relax and get away often. The rate I was provided was much higher than what was online so I was told to go online and book. The Florida Resident Rate (we live locally) was more expensive than the Prepay in full rate so we went with that one only after I reconfirmed the exact room, reservation details etc. over the phone. On the website there is a Premium King Suite and King Suite and we were told the only differences were the higher floor and the Premium Gulf Front had SIDE views of the Beach from a balcony in the King room with another balcony that wrapped around and faced the Bay Side. The Balcony views alone made our decision because with that many women traveling we knew some would be getting up early and could enjoy the view. When we arrived, the front of the house staff were incredibly unfriendly and appeared to be 'bothered' that they had to take time to check us in and answer a few questions. Because we had so many ladies traveling and some were actually not staying at the hotel we asked about parking and they laughed and said just to park at the beach and no one would notice or tow which was not the case. After getting into our room, the master was incredibly small with no balcony and no windows that opened. The guest rom had a private bathroom with a balcony that overlooked the rooftop of part of the hotel and traffic. There was an outdoor washer and dryer floored in the center of the balcony separating it from the balcony that was in the living area so there was no way to go through except back in the room and around. That balcony also overlooked the top of the hotel and traffic but if we were to pop up and lean over the side we could just about see the Beach!! I immediately called down and was told the hotel was sold out unless we wanted to move in the middle of our trip and that the room description I was told they had did not even exist. I asked them to refund my card at least to the downgraded room and they agreed but after a moment came back and said they could not because I prepaid on my credit card. SO they can take my money and I booked direct on the site BUT they could not refund money!? The solution was a few drink cards and breakfast vouchers which turned out to be a nightmare when we tried to use them. There were 7 of us for breakfast and with 5 free, our bill still came out to $127 because items like, oatmeal and fruit were comp'd rather than a full breakfast. We had to ask the server to then comp all of the actual Full breakfast items like an omlet which made our check out last nearly 30 minutes to adjust. On day 2 when I checked into the second room at 11 am (because we had others arriving and the room was in my name) I was told it was available but I was on my way out and asked that they simply give the key to a friend who was an hour out and would be staying in that room. Three hours later when I returned, she was sitting by the pool in cold rainy weather because her room was apparently given away! No idea how this happened and the front of the house seemed a bit baffled as well asking ME how and why the room was given away when I already checked in!? They literally left the front desk to discuss in the backroom leaving me and several other guests unattended for nearly 5 minutes until I walked into the back and asked them to please call me rather than have me wait around for them to figure it out. I found myself spending more time trying to fix issues that could have easily been resolved with a staff that was incredibly unapologetic and in fact used the words "these things happen in our industry". This room was $1,000/night and we simply expected the right room and a friendly, compassionate staff. After several postings on Facebook (some of us are in the media so we have a decent following), on our last evening, I did receive a call from Chris the Assistant GM as well as a charcuterie platter and wine. The call was literally to say, I heard you had a rough start and please have dinner on us. There were no apologies, no questions asked about our stay or how they could make it better. Not a single word about the staff or that it is not customary for them to be this unprofessional. Nothing was addressed other than, let me buy you dinner. We took them up on the offer, dinner was fabulous as well as the service but it does not change the fact that our one trip we had been planning for months cannot be changed, the poor customer service or our quality time that was taken away trying to make things right with an unappreciative staff who clearly felt as if they were doing us a favor.

"Our favorite place on Lido!!!"

We have been coming to Sarasota for over 25 years, we have not stayed in this resort for many years. We were very pleased with the major upgrades they made to the rooms since our last visit. It is now part of the Opal resort group. We had 2 rooms, one suite in the tower which was fantastic and the other in the lower building which was still lovely, but no balconies there. The hotel was sold out, but we were always able to find chairs at both the pool and beach areas. Plenty of beach towels as well! Theo, server at the tiki bar was especially great!!! The only bad thing was our bed, the mattress in room 1005 needs to be replaced. There was a huge indentation on the right side and it felt like you were sleeping in a hole. All in all, a great stay, we will be back!!

"Ok, not at ALL eco-friendly"

Rooms are nice and the location is prime. BUT...there are limited umbrellas by the pool and beach (so bring your sunscreen) and the hotel does not recycle AT ALL. The amount of plastic cups and straws used which all go straight to the trash is TERRIBLE. Especially for a beach resort which thrives on clean beaches. Sad state of affairs. I hope they review this policy and clean up their act.

"Ants and Indifference"

This is a picture-perfect hotel on a lovely but very shallow beach. We stayed here for 4 nights in March in a suite, and I would have been prepared to give 4 stars, but for the interaction we just had with John at the reception desk. The bathroom in our suite (room 6005) is overrun with tiny ants. When we checked out, I told John about this, and his exact words in response were “they’re very small; most people can hardly see them.” As if this makes it ok. Maybe this is standard for Florida, I don’t know, but his absolute indifference was unacceptable and inexcusable customer service. So if you’re ok with a room full of tiny insects and a staff that doesn’t seem to care, then this is the hotel for you.
