"Quite nice except buses and food court"
After staying at Port Orleans & Animal Kingdom Lodge, I was happy to find All Star Sports was, overall, a good experience. On the plus side: comfortable beds & pillows, good towels, good service (I requested two luggage racks – none were in the room – and 15 more hangers as there were only about 5) and a quiet location on the 3rd floor away from the hubbub but pretty close to the buses. Even staying 8 nights, the space, while small, was fine for two people. For four you’d have to be pretty organized, probably using some over the hanger organizers. On the minus side – the food court selection/quality (we only ate there once – eating at the parks and other resort hotels), a few ants and, BY FAR, the bus system. The morning was o.k. as screens listed the arrival time and updated constantly. Buses seemed to always be the maximum 20†wait and sometimes compounded the travel delays by going to All Star Music (infrequent fortunately). Loading for scooters adds significant time and they cut the line. That said, It’s Disney’s responsibility to make the process work better. The return buses were the most frustrating as you have no idea when they’ll show up and it feels like forever (there should be an app for that!). Two tips for the shuttles: book a room close to Music and you have the option of either bus with a fairly quick walk (less than 5â€) between the hotels. This was very handy and really saved on frustration. Obviously this is for people, who after a day of walking, don't mind more walking :-) Also use Uber/Lyft when your arrival time is critical – like rope dropping Flight of Passage. It was only $6 and change to AK. Strangely, Magic Kingdom – the farthest park – had the quickest, more frequent buses during our stay. Note – we left our room around 7:30 and were gone 12 – 14 hours each day so I can’t comment on mid-day buses. Value resorts don’t have coffee so you can buy it for $3 a day, buy the refillable cup for $19 or do what I did – bring an $8 coffee pot (Wal-Mart in my case – still well packed in its box) and good coffee, filters & to go cups. I just made the coffee in the room and took it to go, tossing the cup when done. No issues bringing it on the bus. And I left the pot when we checked out – using that space for souvenirs. The small refrigerator held our breakfast foods (we’d eat in line for opening/rope drop) and a few water bottles. While I definitely preferred the other two locations, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay again.
We recently stayed here during a two week disney trip and we absolutely loved it! We stayed in the hoops block which was right next to the parking lot and a 4 minute walk if that from the pool, food court and transportation. Our room was large, comfy and clean and perfect for our stay. I don't understand the need for preferred rooms because they are no bigger at all and there isn't that far to walk. I read reviews you had to walk miles but this isnt the case. There was a safe in the room, a decent sized refrigerator and a hair dryer, iron and ironing board. The little disney toiletries were also really great! I would absolutely stay here again and would recommend to anyone. The food on site was ok, although the breakfast is good i would prefer to use my quick service at Starbucks in one of the parks as you get any muffin and any size drink for one quick service which is good. The pizza to go from the food court is great only $18 dollars for a large family size pepperoni. There is also a mcdonalds two minutes from the hotel if you wanted something quick but different. The transport is great, buses constantly to whichever park you want to go from.
"Good resort for the $"
We stayed here from October 7-15. We stayed in a standard room and were in the basketball area. It was a good walk from the pool busses and food court next time I will pay the extra and get preferred but it was quiet. The room is basic and fit our needs since we are in the parks most of the time. It came with a mini fridge it took a little while to get cold but was fine after. Our toilet overflowed the first time we used it but once they came and took care of it there were no more issues. I did online check in and they texted us when the room was ready and we went right up our luggage was delivered soon after. We ordered groceries to be sent to the resort there was some confusion as to where to pick up but eventually we found the right place. Also our credit card took a couple times to have it linked to our magic band and operational. The food court was basic I really liked the Cuban sandwich though. Service here was slow the window that served flatbread was a little faster. The pool area was nice and clean with towels available. The theme of the resort was nice and my boys enjoyed it especially the football area to save money bring your own to throw around. Mousekeeping was great! The price was right which is why we chose this hotel and we hadn't stayed there yet. Check out was easy they printed our boarding passes and took our luggage.
"Clean, nice pool, average food and rooms need a refresh"
This is my first stay at a Disney Value resort, having previously stayed at several of the moderate and deluxe resorts at Disney. We were going for a few days over kid's fall break and needed to be reasonable with the budget so booked All-Stars. The positives outweighed the negatives and I'd stay here again on a short trip. Don't think I could do a full week vacation at this resort though. First the positives- Room was very clean and housekeeping did a great job with the room each day. We received a towel animal when we returned the first night. Nice shampoos and soap in the room. Pools were wonderful. We enjoyed the pools for a few hours each day. There were inflatable balls for the guests to use at the pool. Nice area near the pool to purchase drinks. Things that did not go so well- Bus service was good some days, horrible on others. The day we went to the magic kingdom for the Halloween Party was terrible. Waited about 45 minutes to get on a bus. Multiple buses came for other parks while we all waited for the Magic Kingdom. With the big line-up for Magic Kingdom and no line for other parks not sure why they couldn't change where some of the buses were headed. Average/poor very expensive food I was very disappointed with the food. I know it's going to be expensive because it is Disney. If it's good I don't mind though. I noticed a big difference between the meals at All-Star Sports and Wilderness Lodge counter service. Price is similar. Big difference in quality. For instance, the flatbread pizza comes out fresh at Wilderness Lodge while they sit on the counter under a warmer at All-Stars. I didn't notice any lower a price at All-Stars though. I ordered spaghetti one night and very skimpy on the sauce. We wound up going over to the nearby McDonalds a couple times after the average food experience at All-Stars. Got a better meal for half the price. Rooms need a refresh While the room was very clean the carpet was threadbare in spots, beat up walls/doors. Outlets in walls not good. My chargers fell out of some of them making it hard for the family to keep our devices charged up. My 13 year old son said the cute outdoors didn't match the room when he walked in. All in all a decent place to stay for the price. I'd stay again for a short trip only.
"SLOW CHECK-IN ... ROOM NOT READY ON_TIME"
Arrived after taking a three day cruise to the Bahamas from Port Canaveral. Upon arrival and entering the check-in line, we had to wait over 15 minutes before we were served. Upon checking in, we were told our room wasn't ready yet but they'd text us the room number. Approximately 30 minutes later, we received a text that directed us to return to check-in desk to receive our room number. At this time, it was around 4:30 pm. However, I do understand that Hurricane Irma had only left days ago and they were probably playing catch up as their on-line app for reserving rooms noted ZERO rooms available.
