"Amazing stay "
Stayed here with my girlfriend for a post Valentine's Day get away. The check in was a smooth process very nice front desk agent (Laura). She answered any question we had and she gave some great recommendations. The room was on the 4th floor with a balcony view of the hotels "beach" which was very nice. The only downside id say are the shuttles from Disney Springs back to the hotel take kinda long but not to big a deal in all honesty. The check out was also very easy, Mark was great as well. Biggest thing here is the staff great job by all of you.
"Effecient business venue"
Stayed just for one day but very efficient friendly check in. The room was clean, comfortable King bed. The room overlooked the front of the hotel and roofline I hope the other side was more scenic. They started cleaning out my room before I had checked out. Not having access after the early morning meeting was disappointing.
First of all, this should not be called the "Walt Disney" World Swan and Dolphin. No Disney magic or Disney fabulous customer service. One day we were headed to Blizzard Beach and there was a big portable sign saying "Transfer from Disney Springs to Typhoon Lagoon" at the bus stop. Luckily I knew that Typhoon Lagoon is closed for months due to refurbishing and that Blizzard Beach is open with a transfer from Animal Kingdom. "Oh, I guess someone placed the wrong sign outside" was the response when I called the front desk. The woman told me just to leave the sign and they would send someone out. Knowing that customer service is lacking here, I told her I would close the sign and leave behind the garbage can so guests don't potentially waste an hour going to Disney Springs and search for a non-existent bus. Two days later it was still there! We've stayed at moderate and deluxe resorts 4 times in the past and will definitely be selecting a true Disney hotel on our next visit. We selected the Dolphin as it was one of the conference hotels for my husband and we brought our kids. It does offer some of the Disney benefits, such as magic hours and bus/boat park service, but it doesn't offer magic bands for room entry or purchases and does not include the magical express transportation from the airport. Keep the resort fee $25/day (which thankfully was waved for the conference) and cost of airport transportation in mind when comparing this to other Disney hotels. The proximity to Epcot and Hollywood Studios is definitely positive. Overall, it is a decent hotel (although extremely crowded - I counted over 100 people in the lobby when I was waiting) and I would have been happier with it if it wasn't listed as a Disney hotel and I came in with lower expectations.
"Felt like Royalty!"
We always stay at a Disney hotel but never considered the Swan as in our budget until a business meeting forced us to book here since there was no availability anywhere else. It ended up being Disney Magic in action! We had a beautiful room with luxury linens/service. Very clean and beautifully decorated. The view wasn't great- overlooked a roof but we did have a bit of waterview. Staff was very attentive. I felt that we spent so much time running to the parks that we really didn't take advantage of all there was to do and see. Location is excellent for Epcot! We walked there twice thru the Boardwalk and then took the boat shuttle- you avoid the Main Gate entrance this way. One suggestion: We needed directions for our drive home and neither the front desk nor the concierge had them...they tried GOOGLE maps but it wasn't satisfactory and we ended up getting a bit lost til we found the turnpike. Hubby feels we deserve to stay here again so I am happy!
"Downhill for the Dolphin"
We have been staying at the Dolphin for every trip to Disney for over well over 15 years and we have noticed a steady decline in the condition of the hotel and the service. The once upscale resort now looks sadly shabby and is in major need of a makeover. Our room seemed fairly clean but very dated and worn. The hotel was mobbed with at least 3 groups of conventioneers but the facility is unable to accommodate this many people as well as vacationers. Valet service was non-existent, the lobby bar had difficulty filling out drink order because the blender was broken(no backup?), one day we had no maid service in our room although we were out from 9:00 until 3:00. We finally had to call for some clean washcloths and a bathmat. I made the bed myself(no big deal) and I am still waiting on the washcloths, etc. after placing the call 45 minutes ago. The huge pool area was so mobbed that I went over to the Swan to find a place to sit and eventually resorted to pulling up a chair from the patio dining area to sit on near the pool because there were no empty chairs. Food at the Fountain and the Cafe used to be outstanding but is now mediocre at best and not cheap. The busses do not run as frequently and we often waited a half hour for them. The popularity of the Dolphin has certainly grown but management has not kept pace. It seems like they are struggling to keep on top of things but they are just not cutting it. Next trip we will stay at another Disney owned property despite the convenience of the Dolphin's location.
