Een reis naar Hawaii wordt vaak gecombineerd met een reis in het westen van Amerika. Vanuit de westkust van Amerika is het nog ca. 6 uur vliegen naar Hawaii. De reisduur vanuit Amsterdam is ca. 22 uur, waarbij u rekening moet houden met één of twee overstappen in Amerika.

"Nice Hotel, Enjoyed our stay"

We stayed at the Sheraton from 1/6/17-1/8/17; 2 nights. I liked this hotel, but thought it was overpriced. Our room (1328) was spacious and clean. The king bed was comfortable and the room was quiet. I was concerned that this room was right outside the ice machine and I would hear that all day and night, but I only heard the ice machine once the entire stay. We had a lovely view of the ocean (at the shoreline) and looking up the shoreline. It was beautiful, but you could not see sunsets from this room. The bathroom does need updating; it's not to the level of a 4 star hotel. The toilet are industrial like you would see at a stadium or airport and the shower needs an overhaul, but the water pressure was good. I agree with the other reviews, need more towels! 2 is not enough. Luckily, the maid just gave us more. Upon check in we did not receive any flower lei's and they said we did not have breakfast included, but I pulled out my reservation and showed them and they adjusted it and gave us our tickets for breakfast. It was handled professionally. We had the breakfast buffet at Rays on the bay. It was perfect. No omelet bar, but plenty of options that there delicious. We did not eat lunch or dinner here, opted for a couple restaurants in Keauhou Shopping center near the hotel. You have to drive there. We choose this hotel because of it's proximity to snorkel tours. We took the dolphin and snorkeling tour and we walked out of main hotel entrance, down the street and to the meeting location. It was very convenient. Overall, nice, clean stay, but slightly overpriced.

"Happily Surprised"

Happily surprised that management actually cared about input regarding toddlers in 18-plus hot tub and about second-hand smoke from guests/employees. Front desk displayed first-class attitude. Gorgeous holiday decorations. Great room service.

"Was Ok - nothing fancy"

This place was just OK - we had an ocean view room but we missed the first night of accommodation due to flight delays (we had already paid in advance) so I called the hotel to advise that we would still like to keep our room so we could check in early in the morning only to arrive and have the room we booked being used by someone else.. so they made there extra money there.. also there was a constant big puddle of water on the balcony, I get it, I know it rains there but with only one tiny little drainage hole the water never went away which was annoying to be stepping in water every time you come out to the balcony. We booked the massage on the cliff which was scenic but the massage was very average for the price we paid. The restaurant was way over priced (which you would expect) but the quality of the food was very poor for the money paid. The pool area was nice and had a slide which was cool. Overall - I would probably stay somewhere else a little more central / walking distance to other places to eat

"Third time was NOT a charm (this is based on customer service)"

I hate to even write this negative review because I WANT so badly to love this hotel, especially after 3 visits in the past year alone. But unfortunately, it’s the same issues time and time again. This is going to be a long one. Number one complaint: This hotel does not inform guests of the activities they are entitled to partake in, or the daily resort charge they are paying for these activities. The first time I came, I had NO idea of any activities this resort offered until I asked upon checkout what the resort fee was for. Lesson learned. Second time, I took my sister here for her birthday and SPECIFICALLY asked upon checkout what activities were available during our stay (not that I should have to ask) and was told nothing was being offered. I even probed further to ask about the Manta Ray talk, etc, and she said again that nothing was being offered. Ok, no worries (I guess), so on the afternoon of her actual birthday we are about to checkout and see an activities sign by the elevator saying that we could have done Yoga, Lei Making AND Hula dancing between the times of 830AM and 1130AM that morning (this was at noon). I honestly felt terrible that my sister even saw this considering she had come all the way from Canada and she would have LOVED all of these, especially ON her actual birthday. But guess what we still paid for – the resort fees. At this point, I actually wrote feedback to the management, and MONTHS afterwards I finally got a reply from a seemingly concerned new Front Desk Manager He apologized and offered us a complimentary dinner next time we visited. OK, so third time HAS to be a charm. Nope. I took him up on his offer, this time for my 40th birthday. What could go wrong, especially now that the manager has noted my concerns and addressed it with staff. I emailed him in advance and he responded promptly letting me know he would take care of setting up the dinner reservation for 7:30PM on Jan 2nd (my actual birthday) and was happy to take care of it. Nope, this time was probably the worst. We literally took the first flight out from Honolulu to Kona, the morning of my birthday because I SAW online that there was activities being offered. I was excited to learn to make a lei, do some hula, learn ukulele! Nope, again, we checked in and NO mention of activities. Of course I specifically asked AGAIN, and guess what – the agent said there was nothing going on  OK, I guess their website was wrong. Our room was not ready and we were not offered to use the pool etc so we ended up walking around for a bit. I decided to walk to the elevator to see if maybe there were some activity signs up, but alas, the agent was correct. NOTHING. All signs were empty. But guess what! We walk back through the lobby and 1015 to find the lei making class actually happening (already 45 minutes in)! Lucky for us, aunty gave us some leaves to try on our own (I tried looking up an online video, but it didn’t really work). Darn. It happened again. AT this point, I honestly can’t believe it but try not to let it ruin my day. We were told our room would be ready in a bit, and someone would call us. After waiting for a bit, and not being offered to use the pool, we decided it would be best to take a cab into town and poke around until they called us (which was 3PM (we arrived before 9AM). Ok, perfect, We go back to the hotel, hop in the pool to enjoy the sunshine before dinner! At about 6PM my husband suggested we should call to make sure we actually do have a reservation. I kind of laughed (there is no way the manager would drop the ball), but did it anyways. And guess what. No reservation. What? I can’t even trust the manager of this hotel to pull through (oh and I forgot to mention he specially emailed me to ask for him upon check in, yet when I did he was supposedly not working. I emailed him to let him know to contact us at any point during our stay, and have yet to hear from him 2 weeks later). Ok, back to dinner. So we are able to make our own reservation at 7:45, but I am seriously mortified to have to explain to the dinner staff that a manager told us our dinner would be covered. As a matter of fact, I felt so embarrassed that I wanted to just leave the property and go somewhere else to celebrate but my hubby insisted we stay. So we go to dinner and ask our waiter if he knows Deano (the front desk manager). Nope, he has no idea. We explain the situation. He brings his manager over (ok, this is embarrassing). I now have to explain to the manager the situation. Luckily she is super sweet and makes sure we are taken care of (thank you!). The next day we had friends pick us up around 1PM and we toured the island. When we returned I had something under my door saying Happy Birthday (from a different manager) and if there was anything he could do to make our stay memorable to call him. OK, great gesture – honestly – but my birthday was YESTERDAY – we checked in YESTERDAY and are checking out in the morning. Execution at this hotel is sorely lacking. He gave us a coupon for a free drink, but guess what? The bar was closed. Anyway, the fact that this property has natural beauty seems to allow for a lot of sloppy customer service, guest experience and follow through. I am a prime example. I keep having issues, but I keep coming back. I truly do not understand why this hotel does not highlight all the wonderful activities you can partake in for the mandatory resort charge. I would imagine people would be very excited and WANT to partake. You don’t want to find out afterwards you just paid $40+ a day and COULD have done some cool things. Oh, and last but not least, on my last bill I got charged $15 for parking. First off, I didn’t even have a car. Secondly, in the past it was included in their resort fees, and according to their website still is. And guess what? I emailed them on January 5th to let them know and still haven’t got a reply, or a refund for that. Ugh. STOP ME FROM COMING BACK!

"Super old hotel"

This hotel really needs some renovations. Everything is OLD, especially the bathroom, the shower head is very dirty, the wash area is very low which was not very comfortable. We went on Dec, 2016. We didn't feel welcome when we checked in. They said they have many check in that day, so the check in was delayed by few hours. We didn't get a room until 4pm. Only free thing is towels, they have floats and other gears by the pool, but you have to pay for rental. They advertised Manta Ray sight seeing by the hotel restaurant, we spent 2 nights trying to find manta ray from 9pm-11pm, but didn't see any.
