"Great views and excellent service"
Just finished a 6 night stay for a conference with some added relaxation time. Beautiful property and an excellent experience overall. What really made this place stand out was the amazing customer service that I experienced at the beginning of the trip. Without going into all the specifics, my initial room was discovered to be inadequate. Early the following morning, I went to the reception desk and was helped by Zelie. She immediately recognized my concern and had my room moved. Took the extra effort to make sure my new room was more than satisfactory and apologized on behalf of the resort. Not only that, but she took the steps to make sure the rest of my stay was perfect. She provided individualized attention to every detail and I couldn't be happier with the rest of the stay. It's customer service like this that can take a potentially disastrous situation and make it a positive experience. Thank you, Zelie!
LOVED this hotel. We booked it on points but it would be well worth it if actually paying. When we landed we went to Target and got big jugs of water and water bottles, stuff to make sandwiches and snacks. This helped keep the food cost down. We ate breakfast everyday at Island Gourmet - just a short walk up the hill to the outdoor mall. You can get a great breakfast for 2 for $20 vs. the $40 pp buffet. I contacted Tiffany prior to arrival and requested a quiet room near the adult pool and she delivered! She provided a beautiful first floor lanai room with ocean view right by the adult pool. It maybe one of the best rooms in the resort (6206). Housekeeping was great. Very clean every day. When we did have issues (AC broke and key card door broke) they were VERY attentive in fixing them. We ordered room service and it was actually well priced and very tasty. We also went to MonkeyPod a few times. Our favorite was driving down the road to a black sands beach and snorkeling there (be careful of lava rocks) but we did spend a few days on the beaches near the hotel. You can get two chairs and umbrellas set up for free from 8:00 - 4:30 on Wailea beach. Jay was great there. He offered water and was super friendly. Would always move you closer to the front for an ocean view as soon as someone left. While the pools got crowded they did a great job at removing unattended towels after 30 minutes of no use. Chose to do self park - it not only saves you $ but it's also much faster than waiting on valet. It's almost in the same spot as valet. We would come here again in a heartbeat and plan on doing so. AMAZING. I completely forgot a whole drawer of stuff in the room and they are going to be sending it to me asap.
"Amazing Views and the Best Resort in Wailea"
We stayed here for 6 nights. It is a brand new ( renovated in Dec 2016 ) property originally owned by Intercontinental and now by Marriott. Looks and feels like an Intercontinental but the brand new feel of a Marriott. We were very impressed with everything at this hotel: Reservation and Checkin: Thanks for Kevin who had provided special rates and put the instructions that we get the best rooms. we were greeted with drinks and hawaiin garlands at the lobby. We had to wait a bit till the rooms got ready even at 4pm. Room: We had a junior suite right by the ocean. Hale 3 rooms are the closest you can get to the waves. it feels like you are on a ship with the balcony floating in the ocean. We were welcomed by a bottle of champagne and chocolates. very impressive. Service: it was pretty good overall. The expedia travel desk helped us book the tours both hana road and haleakala. housekeeping was top notch. the service at the restaurants were average. Restaurants: There are several restaurants. Kapa was the best with a singer in the evening and magiificent sunsets. The clam pasta was amazing and so were the mai tai's. Whale's Tale was a tiny restaurant by the water and has very good views and flatbreads. Humble Kitchen has great breakfast with 180 views of the ocean but the evening reception girl was not very impressive with her attitude..so we preferred Kapa and other nearby restaurants for dinner. Most of the restaurants have similar pricing. It is about $100 for breakfast for 3 adults and 1 kid and dinner ranges from $200 to $300. Pools: there are 4 pools..all salt water and with great views. lot of fun. Property: The best part about this resort is the property itself and is huge and green which gives the Intercontinental feel. it is very spread out with lot of walkways and sweeping views of the Ocean with 2 beaches ( Ulua and Wailea ) on either side. Most of the other hotels in the area ( Four Seasons, Grand Wailea and Fairmont ) have tiny waterfront compared to it and this is one reason why we would recommend this resort. overall a great experience and would come back here again!!!
"Great Introduction to Maui"
2.5 year-old son and I joined my husband for a conference hosted at this hotel and had a wonderful time! Staff was welcoming -- even stopped to chat at 4:30 am while my son adjusted to the time change and ate his breakfast while watching the staff clean the pool. Great kids pool and slide. Family-friendly, but not overrun with kids/noise. Great adults only pool and adult water slides. Nice yoga and exercise space. Good pool drink service. Beaches on both sides, but current and breaks are pretty rough for younger kids. Enough space to walk or jog on the resort or pop over to little shopping area for dessert. Close proximity to restaurants and touristy activities (did a bit of the Road to Hana, Surfing Goat Dairy, Io State Park, and family-friendly whale watching/snorkel tour -- also visited aquarium but would pass on that next time). Absolutely wonderful views from all areas of resort. Did not attend luau but could watch a few minutes from the path. Well attended, but never so crowded that you could not get a chair/towels at the pool or quick drink. Close to grocery store, but a bit tough working out of a mini fridge (we usually get a suite with a full kitchen). Having never stayed in Maui, and having benefited from conference prices, not sure how this hotel stacks up to others in the area. But, a very clean, relaxing place to spend a week. Would definitely recommend.
"This hotel is so beautiful and in a perfect location!"
This hotel is so beautiful. The lobby is just jaw dropping and your welcomed by the most warm and friendly staff members. I was really impressed that EVERY guest receives a warm welcome, a lei and a glass of juice or bubbly! The Marriott has a leg up hands down on the other hotels around. Especially since the hoopla around town was that the Grand Wailea sold for $1 billion and had a ton of press. If you are trying to decide bewteen the Grand Wailea and the Marriott, no hesitation, pick the Marriott. Its just awesome. The pools are dotted all over the hotel. If you have kids, you will spend your time at the kids pool with the water slide and grottoes. We rented snorkel gear, on property and the staff when WELL OUT of their way to help me find 4 sets for our family. Even going as far as calling my cell phone when they located a new mask for my 9 year old. Snorkeling off the beach was magical and really nice that we could do it as a family right off the beach on property. I booked our Luau on property as well and we had a great time. It was just so easy and laid back. Food was great, their were crafts for the kids to get into and it was a true celebration. There is a full on mall about a parking lots walk away just outside the lobby area and a comfortable walking distance on the tree lined entrance way street to the hotel. We made the mistake of not leaving the property for the first 2 days of our 4 day trip in Maui. Don't make that mistake..the mall has grocery stores, plenty of restaurants, a great coffee shop, a cookie store and ice cream. I bought breakfast items for my crew and we walked over and got lunch a few days. The Marriott does fall short in the food department. The food is overpriced and very "hotel" feeling. We ate at the breakfast buffet - which was just average, they did not have anyone making eggs or omelets so my family was disappointed with that aspect. Walk over to the mall, you can even rent snorkel gear there at half the price. Ruth's Chris Restaurant is our favorite place to eat and it is flag ship joint in the mall. During our stay it was Easter and the place was booked to capacity. It was super busy....my family was split up in two different rooms on two different floors. That part was a bummer. FYI, Hawaii does not let you rent a hotel room for more than 4 people unless it is a suite. We had my mother in law with us which made our group 5 people. That equals double the price for all lodging unless you get a rental house or pay for a suite. That was painful. I booked this trip last minute and I am sure I could have worked out rooms next to each other or a suite but, the hotel was just jammed. At the end of the day, I was happy we were accommodated here. My family truly enjoyed the hotel. The game room was a high point for my son. Video games with groups of kids just his age. Perfect in every way...I really can not wait to return some day.
