We were fortunate enough to stay here; we used points plus cash. My husband has some trouble walking, the front desk person noticed that as he got out of the car and hurried and redid our room assignment. Perfect ocean room( a paid up grade), close to the restaurants and elevator to the beach walk!! Thank you to the great staff, they work very hard. The luau was wonderful but that's a separate review. Great food, dancers and musicians. It's a must. The infinity pool is a must for part of a stay; It's a place of serenity. Again, the very busy wait staff bring drinks and food to you as you relax in front of the ocean. Speaking of drinking! Hey drunks, go somewhere else. There was a group of drunks acting out enraging other guests my first afternoon there. Totally inappropriate behavior. Some people don't get it, that other people need quiet. It's a rather romantic setting, couples kissing. We rented a cabana our second afternoon. You get $50 food credit; easy to do, lunch covers that easily enough. It's worth the price to be covered in the hot Hawaii sun. A sunburn ruins vacations quickly; you can find Maui made sunburn treatment at the Whaler's village. Oh, room service. It is grand after a tiring day. The food is as good as Humble Market. I had onion soup and a salad The coconut pie was simply the best ever; not offered at the Humble Kitchen. It took 2 days to finish Best hotel stay ever; a slice of paradise, in paradise
"Local family staycation"
I am writing this review from the perspective of a local family that did a one night staycation, just to give a little context. The stay was brief, but we had an AWESOME time. We arrived about mid morning on check-in day and did not leave the property until we went home the following evening. The renovation of this resort is amazing. For every age and every traveler, there are SO many thoughtful touches. The main attraction for us was, of course, the Adventure Pool area. This is not just a shallow area that's safe for small kids. This Adventure area is fun fun fun for ALL ages. There is two HUGE waterslides that look like a water park. There is a shallow area with sea animals and fountains that's great for the 4 and under gang. Then there's several waterfalls and a couple other smaller slides. Also, a huge whale to climb and slide on and fall off over and over again. Pretty sure my daughter spend a good 8 hours on that thing. There's also a traditional still-pool on an upper level, with a foosball table and sitting area. Finally, there's a fun scavenger hunt that guests can complete for a free prize. We spent at least 9 hours at the pool on each of our two days there. And something about how this adventure area is situated on the property, it didn't seem to get windy or cold at all. So you can stay aallllllll day and not get cold haha! There are adult pools too, in a completely different area, for peaceful relaxation and taking in the views. LOL... we didn't get there. When the sun goes down and pool time is over, there is a free movie house with free popcorn and juice, as well as a game room. The game room has a bunch of flat screens that you can get game controllers for several different systems, all kinds of board games, and even some arcade games like Pac Man and space invaders or something like that. Oh and a pool table and other games too. When your stay sadly comes to an end, the hospitality room is perfect for checkout time. Instead of a single hotel room that may or may not be available, it's a nice sitting area with luxury locker room style for showering off and getting ready to leave. Did I also mention that kids are given little plush turtles upon check-in and cool pens to do their scavenger hunt by the pool? I feel that the renovation of this resort was incredibly thought out and really thought about all types of travelers. There's all kinds of small touches, like these huge swings on the banyan trees in the courtyard, and teardrop hanging chairs. All kinds of cool stuff, and I'm sure tons more that I didn't touch on. Food is great too, and normal resort prices. There's a food truck by the Adventure Area and I think another bar thing that serves food by the infinity pools. Like I said, we didn't leave the resort for anything once we got there. I can't say enough about our stay and we can't wait to go back! Definitely putting this at the top of our list for staycation choices!
"Nice oceanfront hotel, great staff"
Hotel views of the ocean were magnificent, no obstructions from our room. We got an upgrade and the ocean and the breeze were very nice in our balcony... The rooms are just as expected on a Marriott level, comfortable beds, big bathroom, friendly staff all around. The balcony is a nice touch, with a door, so both areas can be independent. The hotel has several pools, one serenity pool for adults, and a couple of others for all people. They also have hot tubs available for the guests... For breakfast, you could go to the Starbucks right in the hotel, the breakfast restaurant was being renovated when we stayed. We did a luau on the roof of the hotel, although I think it's usually done in a different area but due to the renovations, it was done there; it was very nice, the fire show, good drinks and meal offering... You need to walk a little bit to swim in the ocean, it's not right in front of the hotel, but it's a 5 minute walk or so, you will stumble upon turtles there; you can also do scuba diving in the same area...Very happy with the stay.
We just got back from a one week stay at the Wailea Beach Resort. We had the most wonderful time on our trip. The hotel was incredible. From the time we drove up through the beautiful tree lined street, until the time we sadly left, everything was great. Check in was smooth and easy, and we were taken cart to our room in Hale 7. We had an extended oceanfront lanai, and were just steps from the ocean. The room was lovely, and the bed was super comfortable. The grounds of the hotel were extremely well manicured. The oceanfront walkway runs from one hotel to the other and was great for our morning walks. We spent our time at the adult pool. It was an infinity pool, right in front of the ocean. Even though it was the end of whale season, we saw whales from our pool chairs every single day, and there was even a group of dolphins one day playing right in front of the pool view. The servers and pool staff were great. Terry is a spitfire, always on the go, always a smile on her face, always attending to her guests needs. After one day, she would greet us (and everyone else) by name. I think the hotel is very lucky to have her, as she is certainly a great ambassador representing the hotel. We ate at the pool on multiple days, and enjoyed our food. We also ate at Humble Kitchin, which had a pretty outdoor patio. It was not our favorite meal of the trip, but we still enjoyed the evening. I've read reviews about people being surprised about the hotel not being on the beach. I think that if you are investing in this type of vacation you should do some research before you go. We knew that the beach was on either side of the hotel, and it is literally a 2-3 minute walk on either side of the hotel to the beach. We walked on the beach everyday. Many people said the snorkeling right in front of the hotel was better than the expensive excursion that they took. The hotel location was convenient to so many restaurants. We walked almost every night to dinner. The Shops at Wailea are a 2 minute walk from the hotel, which was also handy (especially because our luggage did not get to the hotel for the first 2 days of our stay). There are many stores, an ice cream parlor, cookie store, and several restaurants. We used the shuttle for the restaurants that were a little further, and it was very convenient. Everyone at the bell desk was very accommodating, and the drivers were very helpful and personable. Jervin was particularly helpful, suggesting that he reserve a cab for us on our departure day, since we were leaving at a busy time. We used the departure lounge on the last day, which made it convenient for us to stay at the pool until 5:00 PM. It was set up really well, with all the amenities we needed. We cannot wait to return to the Marriott. Thanks for the great week!
"Very Nice Resort"
We recently stayed at this resort 04/08 – 04/14/2017. The resort grounds are beautiful and all of the rooms have been renovated and this is a big plus. The Tv's also are connected to the internet so you can log into Netflix for movies on the big TV. All the staff were friendly and service was always very quick. The resort grounds are beautiful and it wasn’t too hard to get around once you figure out where things are. Pro’s: Great Kids pool area with slides and plenty of seating. Some reviews have said the pool is too cold, but we all found it to our liking, although not heated, in only took a moment to get used to it and it was very refreshing in the hot sun. There is a small pool area around the back and each day we visited it was not crowded and it was kind of like having a small pool to your-self. They also have a food truck that had some good sliders. They also have a family pool area with two average size pools and again plenty of seating. These pools are heated and they also have attached hot tubs, great place to watch the sun set from the pool. Since we were traveling as a family, we did not use the adults only pool. Valet – the valet services here are excellent. They are friendly and courteous and quick to get your car. We used them the whole stay and it was great. Only once were they a little late due to pulling the wrong car, I did not mind the wait but they still offered and gave me a nice resort credit due to the delay. This was great service! Game Room – The game room was nice, lots of board games, Golden Tee, Ms. Packman were all not cost. They have Xbox games available by getting controller at front desk, but we did not use this. Starbucks on site was quick and a more affordable way for breakfast, although the cost was about 50% higher than your normal state side Starbucks. When we checked in, we asked for a lower floor by the pool, but they only had ready a room on the 7th floor in the tower. It was at the end of the building and over looked the mountains and nearby condo resort. It was away from the noise of the other quests and this was nice. There is a maintenance area nearby and we did sometimes here the employees chatting. They did offer to move us to our requested room on the 2nd day, and this was very nice and great service, but we decided to stay here as it was close to the main lobby and Valet and we were already all moved in for the week. Also things are not too far apart once you figure out the best way to get around. Rentals: We rented snorkel gear and they were very helpful and seemed like a fair price. We did room service one time for breakfast. Everything was tasty although a little expensive. I had the Eggs Benedict with Pork, it was very good except the egg was a little over poached for an Eggs Benedict. However delivery was pretty quick. Con’s: It would have been nice to have a better idea of events or activities available at the resort. It didn’t seem like they had anything listed where you could look at what was available. It seemed like you would have to ask. This would have been nice. The one deal breaker that had me give 4 rather than 5 stars was the late check out request. We are Marriott Silver Members and it claims we have priority late check out. We were leaving on a late flight at 10:00pm and we really wanted to have a late check out on the last day. I had a small mishap and broke my toe on the second day of my trip, so I really needed a place to relax and elevate my leg. I called guest services and they advised they had late check out available, but not for the room we were in, it was “blocked†out. I’m not sure how they can have a late check out available, but not for our room and I am not sure that our silver status mean anything. I understand they may have rooms allocated to other guests, but the hotel wasn’t even full and I would have been willing to pay. I almost booked another room for $320.00 on the website, but I was not sure if it would be ready for us to transfer to. I explained this all to the guest services person, but her hands were tied it seemed and she suggested I visit the front desk to see about booking another night. In the end we ended up going out in the afternoon and returned to the hotel to wash up before our flight in the departure lounge. This lounge was very nice and offered private showers, water and a couch and TV area. Overall it was not too bad, but I wish they had a better policy regarding late check out. It really should not be based on the room you are in. Overall I would stay at this resort again. I would probably give it 4.5 stars if I could but I just can not give it 5 based on the late check out troubles we had.
