"FANTASTIC STAY"

   18-09-2017
I stayed at the Luxor 13th-18th Sep, Myself and my husband were celebrating our 20th Anniversary, I contacted the hotel prior to my arrival and requested to stay in the East Tower Suite room 16337 and it's exactly what I got on arrival. The first impression of the hotel was just wow, there is a strong vanilla smell but not as overpowering as other reviews have stated, we were first met by people at a desk as you first walk in, asking if we would like cheaper show tickets, I had previously done my homework and knew these were Time Share sales people, I declined their offer and that was it, in previous reviews I read they could be quite rude but I never found this to be true. We are not smokers and again thought this could be a problem but I found the hotel clean and no smoke unlike some other hotels I went in to. Check in was a little long but we had arrived early and was surprised our room was ready. The walk to our room was short, I know others have not been so lucky but it is a big hotel so expect to do some walking. We entered our Suite and I could not believe it, it was so big and very clean, the bed and pillows were so comfy it was like sleeping on a cloud. The view from our room was breathtaking. Overall I had a fantastic time at the Luxor and can't fault the place or staff. If I ever returned to Vegas I would definitely stay here again.

"Terrified! Defective Door Lock. I was locked inside Hotel Room. Also, Elevators stopped working for 20-30 minutes."

I was very disappointed. I visit Las Vegas every year and I have stayed at other MLife associated hotels. I visit, drink, eat and try to see a show at the Luxor every year. This year I decided to stay at the Luxor. I had a very frightening experience. The bold on the door to my room broke the day after checking in. I was locked inside the room. I tried opening the door but the door was stuck. I started to panic and knock on the door. The House Keeping people where next door cleaning and they heard me trying to open the door. They spoke to me from outside and tried open the door with their key but no luck. The door was not budging. After several attempts we were not successful in opening the door. I started to panic. I pushed the 'emergency' button on the phone. Operator picked up right away. I explained the situation and a Lock Smith person was sent to my room immediately. He told me to stand completely away from the door which I did as he instructed me to. He managed to slide to pieces of plastic thru the door crack and managed to knock open the door. I was so relieved after he knocked the door open. I asked him what the problem was with the door. He told me that the door lock on the doors that open to the left are defective and that they are changing them out throughout the hotel. I walked down to speak to the Manager as I was very upset. The Manager told me that in his 14yrs of working there it has only occurred 5 times that he knows of. I told him what the Locksmith had told me. That the locks are defective. I told the Manager that if they are aware of the issue why have they not changed all of the locks on the doors that open to the left?? This is a concerning to me! They should have immediately replaced all of those locks after learning they are defective!! The Manager apologized and offered to move me to another room but I was already unpacked and had settled into the room. So I thanked him but decided to stay as long as they replaced the lock with a new one, which they did. He then offered to pay for dinner and provided me with a dinner voucher which I appreciate but it still does not take away the disturbing issue that there still defective locks in place and they have not replaced them. In the event of a Fire or Earthquake, there is no way out of the room! There is no way that I would have been able to escape out of the room which was on the 10th Floor! I would died in the event of Fire. That is really disturbing to me. It really left bad impression on me. The other issue that I encountered was on Saturday Night. I was out on the town and upon my return to the hotel, I walked over to the elevator (4b) to retire to my room for the night. When I approached the Elevator area, there was a group of people waiting for the elevator. A janitor was on his walkie talkie speaking to someone. He was reporting that none of the elevators were working. All 4-6 Elevators (however many there were in 4b area) were stuck and not working. I was there waiting for a good 15-20min waiting for the elevator situation to be resolved. In the meantime, the group of people waiting to make their way to their rooms kept increasing. Finally, after about 15-20min (not sure how long the other people in front of me had been waiting) one elevator door opened. Several of us got into the elevator and made it to our hotel room. I would also like to mention that on every occasion that I used the elevator, it was a rough ride. The elevators shook back and forth, side to side. Each and everytime! The Pyramid Rooms and Elevators of the hotel clearly need a lot attention. Several of my friends stayed in the Tower Rooms which are newer and the elevators worked correctly. They did not have any issues with their rooms. I am very disappointed with my stay and visit. It left me very concerned and disturbed with my safety and the safety of the other guests.

"Not impressed"

Ended with a tower room which was not what I originally booked. Room was ok, but nothing special. Some of the concierges are more helpful than others. Buffet food was very good. We got the all day pass for this and it was worth it.

"Better than expected"

Great value. Be sure to call reservations and go over the various rate packages they offer. Also, ask for the VIP check in if you can get it, otherwise the check in line is ridiculous. Grabbed a burger at the Public House which was a good decision.

"The quiet end of the strip but still with all the glitz and glamour."

We booked the run of the house room through booking.com which usually means you get the standard pyramid rooms which have showers but when I asked on check in about having a room with a bath they upgraded us for free! The room was in the tower instead with an amazing view, two double beds, a shower and the biggest deepest bath ever! The only thing I felt was missing was there was no drink making facilities in the rooms meaning you had to buy everything for the hotel shops and restaurants or room service which worked out quite expensive but I guess that's Vegas for you. The all day buffet was also really good and worth the money to fill up in one big meal. Location was also ideal for us, on the strip at the south end near the Vegas sign. We wanted to be close enough to everything to walk about but not right in the middle where all the noise and parties were so this was perfect for us. Saying this there were many shows, a huge casino and bars in the hotel that could keep you entertained all day and night long. Wee went to the Criss Angel show which we loved, well worth watching. All in all a brilliant hotel with gorgeous rooms, great facilities and ideal location.
