Stayed here for 3 days. Rooms were reasonable and clean. However, would not recommend room service at all. Extremely overpriced and awful. Although, reception extremely helpful when we had to return our food untouched and had full refund with coupon. Pool is extremely busy and not many beds available unless you want to pay extra $100 each. I could definitely see a 'class divide' with how the staff treated customers they believed were less well off. Also found the waitresses around the pool a bit rude and we were ignored on a number of occasions. All in all an okay stat but expected a lot more
"Way more good than bad so here's both"
Second time to this hotel and third year in a row for Vegas so I can be a little objective. I'm going to do a point by point in order as I experienced it. I think it will be the most helpful. Hope I'm right. Booking: Easy! I booked 4 months in advance and got a great price. Emails with confirmation and everything that followed was perfect. Checking in: Both times I've been here the check in process was horrible. Like, the worst. I called and paid for everything I could in advance about a week before. I was told I had to pay for the rest at the counter before getting my room keys. The balance they gave me on the phone matched the price I had booked the room at 4 months prior. After standing in line for an hour at the hotel (they had two people working the computers and checking people in and two supervisors doing God knows what - mind you that the other 10 or so computers that could have been used to move the line along were not in use), I swore I would not take forever at the counter like everyone else. I had my confirmation # ready, ID out.....and then they gave me a balance due that was about $300 more than I had been told plus they needed to put an additional hold of $100 per night, plus $12 a day for parking. I got out of line, found my information still on their system and was able to eventually get them to charge me what I had been quoted. No wonder that damn line moved so slow. The Room: Rooms are great. About what you would expect from almost any Vegas quality hotel. Shower drained slow, sinks made a gurgling noise all night and the TV was crooked but other than that, the room was nice, bed was comfortable and everything was very clean. If you bump the mini bar, you might get charged (magnets) and if you want a frig, it is $40 a night and fits about 12 cans. The Pool!: This is why we go back and might actually choose The Mandalay Bay again in the future. The wave pool is awesome. I hate having to either be half in, half out or choose to squat the whole time I'm in the water. At the wave pool, just keep walking out until it is as deep as you want it to be. Temp was perfect the whole time and the water is seriously clean. I like the wave action since it gives you something unique. Clubs: Daylight Beach club is great. Wish we would have gone sooner instead of the last day. Foundation Lounge is nice. Good atmosphere. the rest are as good or better than you would expect from a Vegas hotel. Shopping: Good selection of interesting stores. Dining: Could be better but definitely nothing to complain about. Kind of a long walk to some places for low key lunch stuff. Gambling: Everyone's a winner! Just kidding. They'll take your house and firstborn just like every other casino. One thing to note though - the air purification system is amazing. It keeps everything smelling fresh and clean with no cigarette smell or anything. The temperature is perfect as well. Gym: I know that very few go to Vegas to work out. You're in luck. The gym at Mandalay Bay will make you want to skip the gym. They have a very limited selection. Shamefully little. A few treadmills and a pathetic selection of dumbbells and I think one elliptical and two bikes. I hated the gym and personally, I like to start the day with weights so that I can justify all the junk I eat while on vacation. Misc: Long walk from the self parking to the front desk. Long walk to the rest of the strip. Internet was decent. Walk to the pool is not bad at all. Oh, go to the aquarium that is inside the hotel and see sharks.
We have stayed at a few different hotels in Vegas but this one is the worst for check in. Waited nearly an hour to check, not nice when you have just spent 13 hours travelling. The rooms were very comfortable and clean. The resort overall was very nice but just that little bit to far away from the main action for us. We like to walk out of our hotel right onto the street where the action is. They do have the tram connecting to Luxor and Excalibur but sometimes that is a little bit dirty and full of drunks. The pool area was great except for the charge of the tube for the lazy river, and the wave pool kept my son amused.
"Really beautiful casino and pool areas"
We didn't stay here this time, but we visited the casino a few times and walked all the way around the pool area to the Shark Reef area. Really nice casino, super clean, well-maintained, and nice, helpful staff
"Great Hotel, A little far from the main part of the strip"
The hotel was nice. Our room was big, bright and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. Concierge helped us book our shows and answered all the questions we had. The wave pool and beach area is nice and had plenty of chairs all day long. There is no shade unless you rent the expensive chairs or umbrellas. The topless optional pool is free for women and a small cost for men and usually had a DJ but it doesn't have any free chairs at all. The lazy river was fun but small and crowded. You can by tubes for around $25USD on site or bring your own floatie but I would avoid the larger ones or loungers as it gets way to crowded. Fantastic restaurants on site . The casino had smoking but seems slightly less smoky than other resorts. The main downfall was the distance to the strip. You can catch a taxi or uber but it gets expensive, and it was way to hot to walk (43+). We took the free tram to Excalibur, crossed the street to MGM and paid for the tram from their to the other parts of the strip but it took over an hour.
