"Had such high hopes ..."
It was my first Vegas hotel experience. I knew what things to expect: no fridge, no coffee maker, resort fees, long walks to parking garage, and small rooms in West Wing. So - my review is not based on these things. I stayed for 4 nights and wished I would have asked for some sort of upgrade. The line to check in was quite long. I believe longer than usual because of a large group of college kids. The staff was very nice. After the long walk from front desk to our room... walked in and noticed that someone had urinated in "our clean bathroom" and left it unflushed. I am assuming that housekeeping just overlooked this. The shower floor was slimy. The water never got hot. We called and they told us to run it for 10 minutes. Okay - it got lukewarm. The bathroom counter is more of a ledge. There is no room to put anything. There is the crazy design of glass doors to the shower and toilet beside each other. Basically you can hear any and everything going on in the bathroom. Why is there a phone in the bathroom? Bed was pretty comfortable but had a stained comforter. Nice flat screen tv but for some reason, some channels lost a signal. There are mirrors everywhere. Not a complaint - just strange. Would I stay here again? Probably not. I enjoyed the casino. And I enjoyed the location. I liked the access to the monorail. It is possible that the other areas of the hotel are nicer. However, I feel like even though I got one of the "cheaper" rooms that it still should have been better.
"If you are a sucker for punishment, this is the place for you!"
First of all, my family and I stayed here on a Monday night, and thought it was going to be a quiet peaceful stay, but we were very badly mistaken. FYI : If you stay here, bring earplugs..., you'll need them. Shower had no hot water. Shower drain was fully plugged, so my wife took a cold shower while standing in 3 inches of dirty water. I chose to have a birdbath in the sink. Finally, there should be a shuttle service, as the rooms are several city blocks from the lobby. Unless you are a sucker for punishment, I would recommend you give this one a miss. Never Again!
"Tightest slots in the history of ever!!!"
I hope this doesn't get buried but I can't stress enough how tight the slots here are. I've been to Reno, Vegas, and multiple Indian casinos across the country many, many times and I have never, ever, played at a casino with worse payouts. I read some of the other reviews on here saying the same thing but thought I'd give it a try anyway. Absolutely terrible. I know going in I'm not going to win, but it's hard to keep your interest when you get literally pennies on the dollar every once in a blue moon. The casino is beautiful but please, keep your money and save it for anything but this place. You won't regret it.
"INCOMPETENT and INAPPROPRIATE STAFF, HORRIFIC FLOOR PLAN, DINGY ROOM"
When I checked out and handed in my key, I was unaware that they gave me someone else's receipt with name, address, and credit card info. When I called to get the correct invoice, I was connected to accounting (put on hold...), transferred to front desk (put on hold...), transferred back to accounting (hold again...), and I had to go over the details every time. And when a staff member on duty wants to preach about their god, it is entirely inappropriate. Worst of all was that my associate, who has an excellent sense of direction, could not figure out their floor plan. You couldn't pay my business to stay there again. The room was old and dingy, and the smallest I have ever seen in a hotel on the strip.
"A hike from the lobby, but room was fine"
I was looking for a bargain room and ended up in the "West Wing" of the MGM Grand. The reviews weren't awesome, but I found them unfounded. While actually getting to the West Wing was quite a hike from the lobby, the room was fine. It was on the smaller side for a hotel room (think a New York City hotel room), but it was very efficient and spacious enough for what I needed - basically, a closet for my clothes, a clean bathroom, and a comfortable bed. There was also a desk and the internet was mostly reliable. I'd stay again if I was on a budget.
