Had such a fantastic belated Honeymoon to the MGM Grand and what a Grand Place it is. Cannot fault it. What a fantastic Hotel and time I had. Would love to go back. Hotel has so much to offer, not just a casino. Plenty of restaurants, shops and experiences to do
"MGM has risen to the top in Vegas"
Ive ben visiting Vegas for years and MGM is truly the best now. I used to stay at Wynn but MGM really has separated themselves from everyone. There is so much to do and so many options. Wet Republic is the best pool party and Morimoto and Hakkasan are 1st class.
"Stayed here dozens of times"
I can't believe I've never reviewed the MGM. Their West wing is very tired and the rooms show it. The new remodeled rooms are really nice and modern looking. I love the warm tone decor. The property is really big and seems like a city in itself but they've had a lot of construction and remodeling recently that has left certain parts a bit sad looking. They got rid of the rain forest cafe and there's little souvenir shop instead. Check in is usually pretty quick but it you're flying in be sure to take advantage of the check in counter the airport. They will check you and and your room is usually ready by the time you arrive. I've also requested late check out and have had no issues with that free of charge as well. They have a pretty big range of food from fast food and starbucks to more high end restaurants. If you're into night life, the club at the MGM is supposed to be one of the more popular ones. Overall its a nice property, i usually stay here or at any of the other Mlife properties. make sure you sign up for Mlife players club. They'll track your spending and gambling and you can get some nice rates and special offers.
"Nothing Grand Here But The Prices"
Stayed for 1 week to attend a friends wedding, there were 18 of us. On arrival and after a 10 hour flight we had to queue for 45 minutes in the hotel lobby only to be told our rooms were not ready. Unless of course we wanted to pay $20 per night for an upgrade, this on top of the $35 per night for hotel charges. We declined and left our bags with the porters and went to the pool to kill time. The pool area was excellent even with the 5 minute walk from the lobby to get there. Only gripe is there was only the one pool open as the hotel had events at two and another was closed. The hotel was huge, even when you are expecting big, if it's your first time in Vegas the size will amaze you. The casino area was fine except for the smoke from cigarettes and cigars which of course is now alien to Brits and some other European citizens. Prices in the bars was ridiculously high as was the stores and coffee shops dotted about the hotel. If you want supplies for the room such as beer, water, snacks etc, there are a number of shops/stores outside the hotel at a fraction of the prices inside the hotel. I'm no tightwad but $5 for a small bottle of water, $12 for a bottle of beer and $8 for a coffee is tantamount to highway robbery. On to the rooms, what can I say. We had a room on Floor 6 room 534. We called the corridor to the room The Green Mile as that's how long it seemed we had to walk to get to our room. A long dismal dated corridor which puts you in mind of the movie. The Shining, I was expecting a kid to ride out on a bicycle at any moment. "Red Rum" Entering the room we were extremely disappointed to find a basic, very basic room, dull decor, dull lighting, no fridge, no tea or coffee, no bottled water. It did have a TV and a large comfortable bed, the window you had to search for, ours was behind the bed hidden by a roll blind, when we eventually found it we had a wonderful view of the neighbouring buildings bare wall, hardly any light and literally nothing to see, needless to say the blind stayed shut. Shower and toilet again functional but basic. Nothing in this room encouraged you to spend time in it. Maybe that's the ploy. Some of our friends on the other hand were graced with free upgrades and had a fridge and windows that overlooked the town, oddly we checked in first and if you recall were told there were no rooms ready, the guys with the better rooms were behind us in the queue but were assigned these better rooms immediately. Luck of the draw I suppose. I've stayed in better rooms in Blackpool, I wouldn't recommend this hotel to anyone and I would never return. When you see the other hotels along the strip and compare it with the less than grand, believe me you will be disappointed if you have booked to stay here. Vegas itself is unique and worth the visit to satisfy a curiosity, we wandered around the other hotels which all looked lovely but equally as busy as the Grand MGM. A bit like Marmite, I would say if you don't gamble, don't go. There is nothing here to amuse you for more than a couple of days.
"Front Desk is Amazing!!!"
When we decided to stay at MGM I wasn't sure if that was the right decision as I usually stay at Cosmopolitan or Aria. I went with my girlfriends as it was some of their first times in Vegas and so they decided to stay at MGM. Upon checking in we were greeted by Alejandro, he was awesome! We told him that it's some of the girls first time in Vegas and so he checked what he could do and upgraded us to a Spa suite !! This made all the difference in the world, the girls had an amazing time on property and then got to come back and relax in their room. I am really grateful for the staff at MGM and special thanks to Alejandro and the front desk team you made this trip magical for us! I will definitely be coming back to MGM and even if they are full and unable to upgrade I'll still remember this trip and I'm sure the girls will too!
