"Great price. Balcony rooms. Convenient to UCLA, Santa Monica, PCH, Malibu."
Found a great deal for this hotel ($150 a night) and saw its proximity to UCLA and PCH so I booked it. Also, loved the cool look of it and every room has a balcony! It has hip decor and a free wine happy hour every afternoon (I think). I've read reviews that said the rooms were small but my family of four found the room to be plenty big (2 adults and 2 adult sized teenagers). There's not room for a party but it is a comfortable place to relax before bed and the bathroom was plenty big. The hotel restaurant has a great city view but we found the service and food a bit lacking, but that's for a different review. I included 2 outside pics of the hotel, a collage of our restaurant visit and a (not great) pic of our room/balcony. Parking is $30ish dollars a night (can't remember exactly) but it is still a good deal to only pay $180ish for a hotel plus parking in L.A. For the price and location you can't beat it...and the hotel front desk staff and parking attendants were very friendly!
"Great service elevates this solid West LA hotel."
This is my 3rd or 4th stay at the Hotel Angeleno...I must think it's pretty OK, right?! And I do! This old 60's Holiday Inn has been lovingly foisted into the reality of today and generally succeeds. The beds are divine. Room darkening shades (a must with 405 Freeway headlights). Generous (by today's standard) bathrooms in a contemporary package. Oh - and it's a bonus that I can connect my laptop to the big screen and do work or watch movies. Insulated mini-fridge and plenty of lamps. Amenities are nicely packaged and of good quality. Wish there was a shower cap in the room, but they have them at the front desk. All in all, the rooms are really quite comfortable. West Restaurant and the Lounge are also solid selections for when you just feel too tired to leave the property. Service is excellent. Prices at West are higher than most might be expecting. The menu in the lounge is excellent and a bit more pocketbook friendly. In general this is a VERY CLEAN property. The pool was closed for maintenance on this trip. It's small and generally very pleasant. So why not 5 stars? I think the pricing is starting to go a bit beyond the experience. I personally hate mandatory valet parking (and the $34/day charge). As noted by others, a direct reservation will save you the parking fee and usually will show you the lowest rates relative to TripAdvisors partners. Oh, one more thing...it's not a quiet place being on-top of the very busy 405 Freeway. The thrum of tires and exhaust is pervasive even with the doors closed and the AC blowing. Rooms opposite the freeway are slightly quieter but truly only a tiny bit. Earplugs are cheerfully provided at the front desk if you ask. For a 2-3 night stay, this is a solid choice. You get what you pay for which is actually called fair value. I will return in a few weeks.
I recently traveled to LA to visit my three nephews and best friend. I had previously stayed at other well known hotels but decided to stay at the newly renovated Hotel Angeleno. The staff was unbelievably warm, helpful, generous and patient. I’ve never been treated as kindly as I was at this hotel. My three little nephews were ecstatic as well when they visited with me in the beautiful suite to which I was upgraded for a small inconvenience involving an out of service elevator. Even though the disruption lasted only 15 minutes, the staff was super accommodating and apologetic. Johnathon, one of the gentlemen working the evening I checked in, was welcoming and knowledgeable and helped us from the moment we arrived through my departure. I look forward to staying at this hotel every time I visit my family.
"Clean, simple, and comfortable"
I chose the Angeleno for 1 night last week. We had 3 rooms, which were all very nicely furnished, modern, very clean and very quiet. Excellent sleep quality, even if you get a room facing the highway. I would have given it a 5star review if the bathrooms were a little bigger. There's valet parking only, for $34/night and decent WiFi. Would choose again if I needed a location with immediate highway access, and you can find some cool deals online.
"My romantic evening at the Hotel Angeleno"
First of all the people at this hotel go above and beyond to make your stay wonderful. I would like to mention Thomas one of the front desk supervisors by name as being the one person who went especially out of his way to make my stay special! He had the restaurant staff send a full dinner setup to my room, including wine glasses and champagne flutes as well as a candle on the table so I could order food from a nearby Italian restaurant. He also made sure I had a room at the top of the hotel with one of the best views in the whole hotel. He gave me the best rate he could possibly do and I am so glad I chose this hotel. Room service breakfast in bed was great. The housekeeping staff sent robes up to the room for me and my girlfriend. And when I needed scissors and scotch tape they sent them right up as well. Everyone was wonderful and the hotel was affordable. My girlfriend and I enjoyed a very romantic evening there and we look forward to enjoying another evening there very soon!!! Be sure to ask for Thomas when making your reservation he will go above and beyond for you. He even went as far as to call in after leaving for vacation just to make sure my requests were being attended too!!!
