"1 night stop over"
We stayed here for 1 night we had 2 rooms as 2 couples. The rooms were lovely and clean 2 double beds in each room. TV coffee machine with coffee and fridge. We arrived at around 20:00 we had driven from Vegas and we were only staying the night before driving on to our next destination. We managed to get something to eat in the bar and grill they stop serving at 20:30 big portions but be warned if you order the breaded mushrooms and fried green beans they come out looking like they have been fried about 3 times nice but to much grease for us so we didn't eat too many. When we checked in we asked what time the bar shut as we were hoping to relax with a drink after driving all day they said the bar stays open til the last person leaves unfortunately that isn't the case. Once we had ordered our food we checked with the server who was also running the bar side and he said no rush take as long as you like but he was tiding up and had turned all the outside open sign lights off ect so felt we shouldnt out stay out welcome. He was a very friendly guy and we did have a good chat and made us feel very welcome when we walked into the bar There is a shop just off of reception very well stocked and they do serve alcohol along with soft drinks so you can have them in your room they also have snacks and sweets and a nice selection of gifts ECT. The downside to our room when you turned on the bathroom light the fan made such a loud noise and you could also here when your neighbours were using the bathroom as unfortunately you could here there bathroom fan also this also goes for the heating as the fan for the heating is right outside the window to your room. Not much passing traffic through the night which was good but we did notice the traffic noise from about 5:30 am. The outside pool was obviously closed due to the time of year but we could see it through the gates and it looks lovely would imagine it's a lovely spot during the day in the summer. We didn't check out the indoor pool but I'm sure it was just as nice. You do need to have a bank or credit card for a holding deposit on your room. You also get charged $10 for parking with I find a bit off as there is no where else to park and I would imagine most of there guests drive there so why not including it in the price of room !! The bed was comfortable and we slept well till we started to notice the traffic. Staff are friendly in reception and worth buying something from the gift shop Would love to visit this area again as it has some lovely views
Would definitely recommend for only 1 night. Pros: 8-10 driving mins to the enterance of the park. Under $100 a night Indoor and outdoor pool Free parking Cons: mattress old, no cusion, poking springs into ribs No internet/ no service!!! Charge $9 for 12 hrs of sucky internet for 1 device They charge for coffee!!! Who does that?! They charge for calls! TV stations have like 5 channels, no cartons Not very clean rooms/bathroom If your just need somewhere to sleep and bath, don’t need to interact with society or don’t need watch TV or be comfortable in the room. Then this place is for you!
"Outside the Park"
If you are looking for a "no frills" place to stay that is outside but close to Yosemite National Park then this is an option. We took a bus transfer from the Amtrak station so we had no car when we were dropped off and felt pretty trapped with not much to do at this place. The pool was OK, the river across the street was fun but very rocky so a little tough to walk around without shoes and the food options were very limited.
"1st timer in Yosemite"
So, I booked for 2 nights. The hotel location is fairly close to Yosemite Valley and nicely nestled along the Merced River. Amenities are plenty, however be aware the only 1 restaurant is open but it closes at 9 am . Wish that had been pointed out to us. Upon complaining we were told that info was on the back of the hotel map. Never thought to turn the map around..my bad. The nearest breakfast place is back in Mariposa. So if not an all day hiker or for families who can only take in so much nature in a day, I would suggest to stay in Mariposa as it offers a plethera of restaurants and a little nightlife. The lodge does have s nice indoor and outdoor pool as well as a super tiny hot tub. Our room was quite large, the bathroom very roomy as well. The bedding was despicable...never experienced such thin blankets and pillows. Im not into turning the heat up and sleeping with flimsy sheets. The mattresses were uncomfortable as well. Im such a complainer, sorry. I just expect some basic comfort. No wifi btw, that comes from a 3rd party and its not worth the 9 dollars for 12 hours. You say, we are out in nature, should abstain from internet. Try dealing with tired but still mentally active teenagers and no social media. Not sure how I survived way back when..:) Oh, did I mention the lose faucet in the shower and the mist from the shower head?? It took 10 minutes to rinse my quite short and thin hair. Unheard of...:) So while location, price and amenities appear appealing, I would chose not to book here if travelling with family or not so avid hikers. I think this place is perfect for people who's sole desire is to get all they can out of our amazing Ntl Park and only need a place to rest their tired muscles. Lastly, when I mentioned my complaints to the front staff, they appeared quite disinterested and left me wondering if they truly cared. Would have been a great chance of making things right by using just a few kind words.. We ended up leaving after our first night. I think with a little improvement, maintenance and customer care education, this lodge could be a marvel.
"Our stay could have been better"
As two couples, we each booked a room for 2 nights. While the rooms were clean, we found that many things were not as we expected. The worst problem was that our thermostat did not work, and the room was very cold. After sending a staff member to verify the thermostat wasn't working, the front desk staff said they would call someone to fix it the next day. They sent us a couple to heaters to keep warm. They did not have it repaired by the end of the next day. Also, one of the burners and the dishwasher did not work. Though the hotel is not too far from the Yosemite entrance, it actually takes more than 30 minutes to get all the way to the Valley floor loop. We probably will try to get reservations inside the park next time.
