"Good location & value"
We had a little family get together, there were 8 of us. We had a Jr. Suite w/ kitchen and another room. We didn't think 1 bathroom was enough for all of us! Though the Jr Suite would have slept all with relative comfort it was perfect for 5 and worked for all of us for an impromptu dinner and just hanging out. The rooms were clean and the staff friendly and accommodating. The indoor pool was not available as it appeared to have been turned into a storage area at least while we were there. You are off the grid here, there is no cell service but they do have wifi available for purchase. One person in our group used it with no problem but later in the day the front desk said it was out....I dunno. Cell service in the park was gr8, but we stayed mainly in the valley. The drive to the park was short and easy, about 1/2 hour. Absolutely worth it!! There is a shuttle that runs into the park on a schedule. you would have to check with front desk for details.
We spent 3 nights in Cedar Lodge and overall the stay could have been more pleasant. This property has an eerie feel; maybe because of the 1999 murder of 3 women who stayed at Cedar Lodge. The staff were not motivated to help when we inquired about potential road closures this time of year. We observed the milk sold in their shop adjacent to the front desk has expired and informed them to remove from the refrigerator. They acknowledged and confirmed they would remove them ASAP. Lo and behold! the expired milk cartons were still there the next day! The crew did not do a good job cleaning our room as the garbage was not disposed and they even left THEIR cans of soda on the table and kitchen counter! Internet connection was non-existent despite the front desk saying they would work on it. Information on the roads & Google maps via the internet was essential to plan our routes as there were road closures. No lunch is served at the restaurant as it only serves dinner. We had to drive to Yosemite Valley Lodge food court for our lunches. Thankfully, we shopped for food & groceries at COSTCO on our way to Yosemite; and cooked our dinners in our kitchenette. We managed to buy groceries at Half Dome Village though all eateries were closed for the season with the exception of Yosemite Valley Lodge food court. Barring our negative experience at Cedar Lodge, Yosemite was AWESOME!
"Good even tough a bit far from valley"
The rooms are clean, well maintained. Even though the lodge is far from the valley (18 miles) it is worth to consider for the price and facility. The only difference is there is no complimentary breakfast, the wifi is usually broken and you cannot get any network coverage here. Unless you cannot stay without network do not consider this place.
Had no cellular coverage, understandable given the location. Never had internet, although we were told daily "Working on it". Then one night had no water pressure. Second morning, I couldn't even shower due to sewage backing up into the bathtub. Left three days early. The location was great, but that's all.
we stayed here 1 night on our way before going to yosemite. Booked the room through expedia and not knowing what to expect. For a motel type of room it was ok, we had a suite and there was a lot of space. we went for the drink at the bar on the premises and even though it's outdated, we didn't mind it that much. We agreed we would like to go there again in the winter time or when it's colder but then again, maybe we would look for another place that would seem cleaner. However, for being in a place that's far away from a city, we didn't know what to expect and I am not sure how many other places there are and how they look like. The premises and number of rooms of this venue seem like they accomodate a lot of guests so maybe they could put a little more effort into updating the rooms. The internet isn't included and you have to pay for it in the room by credit card.
