Over Cedar Lodge

"Great location is all I can say"
This motel was just outside the West Entrance to Yosemite - which is why we chose this location. This motel was a bare bones place to stay. The motel itself was very clean and didn't smell. Sheets did have tiny tears/holes throughout and the pillows were very poor. I would encourage you to bring your own if you need one. My ATT phone could not receive signal, so I was trapped with the $8.99/12 hours of wi-fi. I felt like I was on dial up from the 80's - considering everyone had to use this wi-fi - it makes sense the service was very slow. No way to stream anything - I was able to hop on to Gmail, send four emails - and this took almost 45 minutes. The a/c sounded like an old Model T when it cycled on - and was tough to sleep through, except we were so tired from our days in Yosemite. This location and their sister property down the road have the only restaurants withing 35 miles. We shared fish and chips and one drink - it was over $20. We didn't seem to have enough parking near our room and had to park far away from our room. The main building where you check in does have a limited 7-11 type store for a few items you may need for your stay. There are great refrigerators in the rooms and if you want to use a microwave, you have to walk back up to the main building. People at the front were nice and friendly. We had booked this hotel through reservations.com and there was a discrepancy with our billing. The female manager did the best she could, but now we have to research our credit card bill upon our return to ensure we weren't double charged for this motel. We spend more on our three nights here than we did for seven nights in South Lake Tahoe - so we will be checking our bill to ensure we weren't charged twice for this experience. Again, great location if you can tolerate the bare bones motel type feel.
"Nice lodge, great location"
This was our choice of hotels while visiting Yosemite National Park. It's a short drive from the park and located in a beautiful area. The hotel has a small restaurant for breakfast and lunch and a bar and grill for dinner. We opted to drive up the street a little bit to their sister hotel Yosemite View Lodge for some pizza and beer. The room was big and clean. The lodge is dated but there aren't a lot of options near the park. The price is reasonable. My family really enjoyed hiking to all the nearby waterfalls.
"Too far out.."
Have travelled across California/Nevada for 2 weeks, and this was the first hotel that disappointed me. No free wifi - ok, it’s not given. But 9$ for 12 hours access to 1mb network? No way. In Yosemite park we had 4G access, so the location seems like a bad excuse. We stayed 2 nights and wanted to sleep in the first morning - unfortunately Cedar Lodge had carpenters working on the roof at 8am - in a hotel??? Ruined my plans of a good morning snooze Location was good going to Yosemite, but otherwise I was plain disappointed.
Located near the park entrance, this motel has little else to offer. The room was large and comfortable, but lacked any reference to services- no TV guide, menu for the restaurant or info about Yosemite. There is no cell service and they charge for the phone and internet(which they warn you is very slow). Breakfast costs $16 for the buffet- no ordering from a menu. The nearest food is 5 miles away at their sister motel.
"Clean, comfortable lodge, spoiled by poor services"
Spent two nights in a single room. Clean, comfortable and quietly situated. No information provided in the room for services, meals, local attractions, etc. (But two bibles in cabinet drawer, and I'll not speculate why.) TV service is adequate, but no on-demand available. Mobile phone coverage is zero. Broadband (extra charge) is extremely slow @110 mbps, limited to one device, and virtually useless - no streaming possible. Separate restaurant offered reasonable all-you-can-eat breakfasts, but Sunday night dinner was available only in adjacent bar. Without doubt, the burger I was served was The Worst Burger In The World Ever! Seemed to be pre-cooked patty, reheated in microwave, devoid of any moistness or flavour, and inedible. Conclusion: comfortable accommodation, but bring your own food and beverages.
