"Pretty Good for a National Park Hotel"
WINTER REVIEW: As a hotel room, it's pretty basic. As a National Park hotel, it's above average. I stayed in a second floor room with a king bed. The room was clean, spacious with balcony and partial view of the falls. It had the following: -TV -Wifi -2 convection (wall) heaters -Extra bath towels -Soap/lotion/Shampoo dispensers -Clothes Iron -Mini fridge -2 nightstands -and more.... NO hair dryer. I was nicely surprised about the Wifi. Wasn't expecting it. The TV had few channels and was pretty useless as such. Dining options in the middle of winter was limited. The cafeteria opens at 6:30a at least, so you can get coffee first thing before heading out to play. They offer basic fare and what I tried was edible but not tasty. The best thing was the cheese pizza. There are vending machines for drinks and snacks if you're desperate when it's after hours. The park does a good job of regularly plowing the main roads; however, they were pretty lax about shoveling the path from my building and plowing the parking lot where I parked. It got annoying after a point, having to trudge in mushy snow. Things got hairy because of that, especially when the snow hardened into ice on the parking lot. I wasn't lacking for anything but a blow dryer for my hair - important when it's freezing cold. The rates were reasonable because of the season. There's a paved path on the property that leads to swinging bridge and the hotel is in easy walking distance to the Yosemite Falls trails. I would definitely stay here again.
"Best location in the valley."
Basic room but best location. You can hear the waterfall from the room. Walk in any direction from the hotel and see the most beautiful views. Plenty of parking. Room is small and could use better lighting but we are here for the park, not the room. Coffee and breakfast in the cafeteria is relaxing and spacious. Dinner in the dining room was good. My kind of camping!
Such a beautiful national park. Stunning scenery and was lucky to be surrounded by great company. Yosemite valley lodge had simply decorated rooms which were perfectly decorated. Our's was a short walk from the car park which was not a problem, however given the season, there was quite a bit of ice on the floor so we had to be careful. The food court was....a bit like going back to school dinners. Food was edible but nothing worth writing home about. The scenery was breathtaking though. Well worth a visit!
"Best value with the most amenities..."
The Yosemite Lodge is a sprawling property consisting of 14 two story buildings all with a balcony or patio. Central to the property and its amenity hub is the check in counter and activities desk. Here you will also find the Cafeteria , Mountain Room restaurant , Mountain Room bar , gift shop that also sells snacks , small outdoor amphitheatre , Olympic sized swimming pool and Post office ( the latter 3 seasonal) The rooms have all been recently updated with new shower enclosures updated bedding and flatscreen T.V.s and small refrigerators. There are no lifts (elevators) so consider what you need to load and unload to your room when requesting preference. The Lodge is located right across the road from Yosemite Falls and a free shuttle stop to transport you about the park is located right in front of the check in area. Having stayed in most every building over the years the Northern most buildings , in particular Elderberry and Cottonwood have AMAZING views and SOUNDS of Yosemite Falls , they also face the exit road for the park and can be a bit noisy during peak traveling time. After that nothing but peacefulness. In contrast the southern most Alder, Maple and Hemlock back to the woods and the Merced River , the only thing you may see is an occasional jogger, bike rider and probably some deer.
Check In was somewhat difficult due to staff not being able to find the booking even with the booking number. They worked hard to fix this and we were eventually checked in. room was well appointed with both heating and air conditioning. Water pressure was great! All rooms in the lodge section had spectacular views of the surrounding landscape and mountains and the lodge itself was well placed with all trails etc within walking distance. Drinks and food were somewhat expensive but staff were friendly.
