Lodging choices are limited in Yosemite Valley. We stayed at both the Yosemite Valley Lodge as well as the Majestic Yosemite Hotel. While the Majestic Yosemite Hotel is tough to beat, the Yosemite Valley Lodge was very nice also. We had a room in the Alder Lodge, conveniently located across the road from the main lobby, the food court and the Mountain Room restaurant. There was a great view of Yosemite Falls right from the front door.
"Comfortable, cozy and convenient!"
We stayed two nights in March. Had a room in the Alder bldg, second floor. That way didn't have to deal with noise from room above. Bldg was located across from the front desk, restaurants and shops so it was super convenient. Room was renovated and quite spacious! Decor was like a cottage so it was very cozy. All the necessary provisions were there. Had two Full size comfortable beds with clean crisp linens. Loved shuttered vents to let fresh air in. A tower fan was provided. Along with a ceiling one. Bathroom was neat and had plenty of towels. There was a safe- coffeemaker - ironing board. Parking is a bit of an issue. Luckily, we found a spot right in front of our bldg. Advice- find a good parking spot- AND DONT MOVE THE CAR FOR YOUR STAY😎- the shuttle buses are very easy to use. Even though they take a bit more time than if you drove yourself. Finding parking at hike spots and sights is difficult. Better to stick with the buses or walk around. Highly recommend the night hike. It's just breathtaking and amazing!!!! You will never look at the sky the same way!
"A great hotel in the heart of Yosemite Valley"
This was our first trip to Yosemite National Park. This hotel was not cheap, but the accommodations were great and you can't beat the location. We arrived a little early but they had a room available. The concierge staff was very friendly and pleasant. Our room had a queen bed and a twin-over-full bunkbed which was great for our family of four. The bathroom was great and we never felt crowded given that were were four people in one hotel room. We were on the second floor of the Hemlock building and our balcony had a spectacular view. There were three different dining options available a short walk from our room: a more high end restaurant (we didn't go there), a bar/lounge, and a food court. The bar lounge was nice for drinks and appetizers. The food court was super convenient for everything else. The staff was nice. There was an entree station that offered three different items (2 meat and 1 vegetarian), a grill station that offered burgers, grilled cheese and pizza, and a soup station that offered two self-service soups. In addition, there was a coffee/pastry shop and lots of grab-n-go options such as pre-made sandwiches and salads. We visited in March and many amenities and areas of the park were closed but what we saw was amazing: Upper and Lower Falls, Bridal Veil Falls, and Mirror Lakes. We also had amazing views of El Capitan and Half Dome.
"Great room and stay (Hemlock Bldg)"
We had a first floor room (nice for not packing bags up stairs) and faced the north side of the valley wall. A convenient walk to the food court/lounge/gift shop/shuttle stop. Parking was convenient - though may fill up on weekends due to increased crowds. Room was very clean. Room has fridge, coffeemaker and hair dryer. May want to get a couple of extra pillows for comfort. Beautiful view with a patio.
"Great simply for location "
The lodge itself is only "ok," but when you can see a waterfall out your window do you really need anything more? I don't have anything bad to say, but location is the only word you need to know when it comes to this hotel.
