Over Yosemite Valley Lodge

"The place to stay!"
Great spot in the valley. We rented a car in Fresno but used the free shuttle service within the valley. There are several food places within the Lodge area and a gift shop. Concierge was very helpful! Room fine - no AC but ceiling and floor fans. We highly recommend it!
"Great location. Average stay."
Location is superb. Shuttle buses to take you to any other area of the park too which is just ideal! The rooms are semi-well maintained but very old and dated. Spacious enough... Do not expect luxury, just the basics. Food is not good. The canteen like foodhall is abysmal and unfortunately made me a bit ill one day... If you can arrange to cater for yourself try and do it, it'll be worth it. I can't imagine what it must be like for the park trying to arrange the logistics of getting fresh food in, understandably difficult. Nonetheless, you're in one of the most stunning places in the world!
"Stunning in every way"
The location is brilliant and having stayed in the half dome lodge also this is a notch up. The room are reasonably spacious, they are well equipped and allow you to enjoy the surroundings at your leisure . If your going to spend a couple of days in Yosemite worth looking at. Coming back and will try to stay longer. Lots to do!
"Excellent Location In Yosemite Valley"
There is no way to stress how conveniently located Yosemite Valley Lodge is in relationship to all the activities in the park. But, more than that, staying anywhere in the park itself will save you hours of drive time in-and-out of the park. Park entrances are at least a 45 - 90-minute drive in/out each way. With all the current road construction within the park, you will be thanking yourself for all the drive time you'll be saving. At The Yosemite Lodge we stayed in the Maple Building and requested a second floor room with 2 double beds and they worked with us in a room selection that was perfect for us. Our room was spacious with a nice sized bathroom, vaulted ceiling and spacious balcony. It also had an interior central corridor with rooms on either side, so you may like the side that faces the meadow. We actually chose the side which looked towards the lobby building and we enjoyed seeing all the activity. You might think that the noise from people or busses would be problematic, but it was amazingly quiet and what little extemporaneous noise there was did not impact us whatsoever. Other buildings in this general vicinity are Hemlock, Alder, Juniper and Laurel. (Some of these lodge buildings do not have interior hallways.) The Maple Building is conveniently close to the food court, two restaurants, gift shop, lobby and to the shuttle stop. You're also in close proximity to Yosemite Falls and to Yosemite Village where The Visitor Center, The Wilderness Center, Indian Village, Museum, Theatre, grocery store, Degnan’s pizza/deli, Ansel Adams Gallery, etc. are located. Also, there are tram tours that originate in front of the Lodge building. Having been there recently in early September, the Falls were dry but the beauty of the mountains that surround you are absolutely awesome. If you can pack your bikes with you, the Valley floor is quite flat and is a great way to explore the park on the many bike trails. The shuttle system is super and makes getting around very easy. All the staff were very pleasant and helpful. There is so much to see and do right in the valley but you'll enjoy driving to Tuolumne Meadows and viewing Half Dome from Omlsted Point. Can't wait for them to reopen Wawona to see the giant sequoia grove, but there are two smaller groves of sequoias not too far from the Valley. Drive up to Glacier Point for a spectacular view of the Valley and Half Dome. Enjoy the beautiful Ahwahnee Hotel for dinner or a drink at their newly reopened bar.
"Paid Price of luxury for a shabby room"
The rooms are not maintained well at all. Fan in bathroom was very noisy, walls are paper thin and you cannot help but feel you have no Privacy. The pillows were terrible-thin and lumpy. I paid over 500 for this tiny sad room for a two night stay. I get the sense that the concessionaire knows that they can provide inadequate rooms for the price because of location. And that they do not care much about your stay in their rooms.
