"Be careful when booking "
We planned to stay here for two nights however due to the severe weather warnings we were unable to make the trip down. There is no email so we were only able to communicate to the hotel by submitting a form. We asked if we could have a full refund due to weather conditions, they refused and weren't very helpful about assisting us in how we could go about getting there if we tried to get there instead of losing half of our money. This was extremely disappointing especially when we had to also cancel our Lake Tahoe accomodation and they waved the fee and gave us a full refund due to weather conditions.
"Best plac e overall to stay in the valley"
Went to the valley for a valentine's day getaway and stay the lodge. We had a queen bed room with bunk for the three of us which was more than adequate. Clean, warm room, only down side ws the view was of the parking lot---would have been nice to look toward the valley itself. The mini-fridge was very efficient , to the point that a bottle of soda we had in there froze and cracked. I would stay again.
"The Falls in the Yosemite Valley are all at their Best!"
I love Yosemite and visit there at least twice a year. More if I get anywhere near! So this week (2/12-15) I spent 3 nights at the Lodge near the Yosemite Falls. There is water everywhere and snow stacked around all the parking lots. This year there are more water falls than I have ever seen in all my years visiting the park.
We stayed here in mid-December with a three year old. The Dogwood is located at the far end of the property - near a couple other buildings just like it. There were only two other families staying here, so it was very quiet. We were just across the street from Yosemite Falls and the flat walk was perfect for our kidlet to run off energy. The rooms here are clearly older, but still perfectly functioning with plenty of modern amenities to keep everyone satisfied. We had a hot shower to come home to and a warm bed to sleep in. The rest of our time, we were out hiking or seeing the beauty of the park - so we weren't there for luxury.
"Quiet winter visit to Yosemite"
We arrived after dark because our bus had to take a 3 hour detour because of flooding! So we were pooped and a little discouraged to see that our window looked our over the parking lot. Woke up in the morning and opened the curtain. OMG there was Yosemite Falls and giant pine trees towering over us. The room had a nice exposed beam ceiling, a separated dressing area, nice quilted spread on the bed, six pillows! The extra blanket had a strong chemical smell when I took it out of its plastic zippered case. Couldn't use it. Put it back in the case. Luckily the bedding provided was surprisingly adequate for warmth. Although it had been pouring rain for days there was still snow on the ground and beautiful mist in the morning. It seemed about a 15 minute walk to Yosemite village. We are 65 yrs old, not runners. The paved trails provided plenty of adventure for us. The "food Court" at Yosemite Falls Lodge is more like a cafeteria, with better food than a school cafeteria, but not much selection and heavy on the carbs. Both nights we had the slightly pricey, but quite delicious, hamburgers from the fancy restaurant. Had eggs, sausage and good home fries for breakfast at the Food court. They have good coffee. Noisy, but effective, heater in the room. Wifi was free but a real mess to set up. We had 3 different (android ) devices. Only my husband's phone had fairly consistent wifi. We couldn't figure out why mine didn't work that well. We have identical phones. No cell service (Boost Mobile) We are supposed to have free roaming but I guess that's a subject for a phone review, not a hotel review. We had lovely walks in a soggy winter wonderland and saw much rushing water. Well, also lots of standing water. Speaking of water, in the room the hot tap water was HOT and the cold was like ice. WE filled our water bottles from the tap and hope what we were told about the great water quality was true. Tasted fine. We spent 2 nights during the week and enjoyed the semi-deserted feel of the place in winter.
