"An expensive disapointment"
We stayed for 4 nights this week, it is expensive. The external ambiance, pools and courtyard are superb, breakfast rooms and food good. Snacks and drinks service during the day and early evening fine. But the rooms 1960s. Room 4 was in serious need of redecoration, and see below, it needs redesign for the 21st century. The carpet stairs are filthy, and room 4 simply does not work. A comfortable king size bed but no suitcase racks, and a VIctorian wardrobe with just 4 coat hangers, and one huge lower drawer. There was a desk, nice, but with no power points, they were on the other side of the room. Most of the desk table surfaces were marked, some badly. The other side of the room had a tiny round table with a lamp and a small decanter and two port glasses, thanks. On the floor was a 3 plug, plug board. The kettle had to sit on the floor to operate. SImply not functional. We obviously complained, nicely, made some suggestions, and survived, but for that cost. Lovely place BUT!!!!
We stayed here as part of a South African holiday mainly to visit the wine area The hotel is very colonial with lovely rooms and breakfast only dining room. The outside is relaxing and has two small swimming pools The staff are welcoming and professional and cannot be faulted. Stellenbosch is a very colonial town and we thought had a great Dutch influence and the area has stunning scenery, vineyards and of course wine Well worth the visit as either part of a tour package or just to visit if you are doing your own thing
Stayed here for 2 nights as part of our trip to South Africa. Nice change from the busy city of Cape Town. A bit disappointed on first impressions as looked a bit run down . Greeted by lovely friendly staff in a very calming atmosphere. Such a quirky place which added to its charm. The rooms lovely very spacious with the most comfy bed ever. Spent our second day just relaxing round the pool and chilling. The grounds are beautiful and very pleasant to have breakfast sat outside in the sunshine. Would defiantly recommend.
Great hotel. Great location near town. Great room. But most of all, great staff who made us feel very welcome. We had a birthday to celebrate and we felt so happy to be there with them who sang " happy birthday " in a way that made us feel so very happy. Thank you.
"Great location, ideal hotel for couples"
We stayed here for 2 nights as part of our honeymoon in South Africa. We were thrilled with the quaint style hotel, the room was fabulous, the hotel is in great proximity to the town, only a 3 minute walk away and the beautiful breakfasts. We booked a wine tour through reception when we arrived for the following day and nothing was an issue during our stay. Would highly recommend to anyone visiting Stellenbosch
