When I booked the stay at the Hotel DeBrett, the people were great to work with. They mentioned all of the benefits the hotel offered. Upon arrival it was a different story. The promised evening drinks each night ended up being one drink during the stay. That drink was from a very limit list. The included breakfast was not close to every other hotel we stayed at during our trip in Australia and New Zealand. It had a basket of breads (two pieces), small plate of fruit and some type of cereal. If you wanted eggs, meat or something hot, it was an additional 10-20 dollars. We did have a fantastic meal in the restaurant the first night of our stay, the waiter (who was there for each breakfast also) had great enthusiasm, as did the entire restaurant staff. The front desk (each of them) was always helpful and did offer us an additional free drink each after we said something to them. The room was small but very nice. The bathroom was large and spacious. Some shears would be nice, that way the blinds could be open for light, but people would not be able to see in. A free bottle of water on the night stand each night would be something else I expect from the level of hotel. Getting to the rooms with luggage is a challenge. The hotel is in a great location and has a lot of upsides. For me they need to polish up some of the details. We did discover the Corner Bar (next to the hotel and had Hotel DeBrett glasses). They had a better selection of alcohol and the bar tenders were excellent. One was very detailed and professional when it came to making drinks. He seemed to take great pride in every drink he made. Was also fun to chat with each night.
"A Lovely Visit"
I arrived at the Hotel DeBrett very early in the morning. As a result of a full day's work and then disrupted flights I had not slept for 36 hours. The reception staff were absolutely lovely. Although they probably thought an extra from the Walking Dead had lumbered into their establishment, they were very kind and did their best to get me into my room early. While I was waiting the staff in the restaurant kept me hydrated (and awake) with some excellent coffee and numerous glasses of water. When I emerged from my room after a long sleep I was delighted with the hotel and its friendly 'vibe'. My room was beautiful, the restaurant excellent and all the staff were lovely. The shopping nearby was great. Thank you to the Hotel DeBrett for a wonderful stay.
"Stunning bathroom and personal service"
I loved this hotel. Convenient with what I needed in walking distance for an oldie and walking stick. But it was the hotel itself and the personal service of staff that was stunning. I notice the little things, the quirky, textures and colours, evidence of thought and flair. Here I found all of the above. I could rave on about a vase with Bird of Paradise flower positioned to look like a bird; a patchwork kilim with comfortable chairs picking up the colours in it and also in the main striped carpeting; a bathroom with double glass doors with mosaic walls of small round black tiles set in white sporting a deep freestanding bath I would have loved to take advantage of (see above); great breakfast (see restaurant review); service beyond what could be expected - I could rave on. If only I could have had longer. Boutique - as in individual and special - hotel.
100% worth the price. Rooms are stunning, staff are lovely. Classic boutique hotel in the center of the hip CBD. Unique rooms including an absolutely stunning bathroom for a much needed bath after a long flight. Cocktail bar has a vast selection of cocktails with knowledgeable staff. Will absolutely stay here whenever in Auckland.
"Downtown hotel close to shopping"
Room was decent size clean with modern features but not as pleasant an experience as the B&B's we stayed in later. The staff were all pleasant and very professional, but they were clearly understaffed.
