Anchorage is de grootste stad van Alaska en gewoonlijk uw startpunt voor een rondreis Alaska. Het is overigens niet de hoofdstad van Alaska, zoals veel mensen vaak denken, want dat is Juneau. Anchorage is een moderne stad en overzichtelijk. Alles in de stad is goed te vinden en op loopafstand van elkaar te bereiken. In de directe omgeving van Anchorage ligt direct de wildernis van Alaska.
Located in downtown Anchorage. An older Marriott but still in good shape. The hotel has a pool, fitness center, bar, and valet parking. The rooms were in nice shape and the beds were comfortable. During the summer this hotel gets busy with cruise ship and tour groups. Not far from the mall and several restaurants.
"Amazing Hotel Experience!"
I won a complimentary stay for two at this hotel through a work function, and I really expected us to be treated less than the "paying customers". However, we were treated like royalty, seriously. The check-in staff were welcoming and friendly, the stay included valet parking, which is necessary in their location. The valets were respectful and super helpful. The room had an incredible view and was spotless, comfortable, and quiet. The breakfast was plentiful and delicious, even the continental. I will definitely look for a reason to go back.
On 7th Avenue, elegant lobby, parking not easy or included, Rooms nice, staff very helpful, nice bar, near downtown, but 8-10 blocks from a lot of the gifts hope to walk to for the elderly, quit, this.
"Not What We Have Come to Expect from Marriott Hotels & Resorts"
On July 24, 2017, the Anchorage Marriott Downtown was our last stop on a Royal Caribbean International Alaska Land Excursion. We made a reservation, to stay an extra night at the hotel, directly with the hotel on March 24, 2017. Royal Caribbean hooked the reservation that we made, to the tour reservation, so that we could stay in the same room and spend an extra day in Anchorage for sightseeing. Eren Bicakci, the Rooms Manager, checked us in and assured us that everything was in order. He changed our room access cards to reflect our two-night stay. However, he failed to notify Housekeeping that we would be staying in our room for two nights and that we wanted housekeeping services on the second day. On July 25, 2015, we returned to our room at 5 PM. The room had not been made up and we found a housekeeper for toilet paper. She had no idea that we were staying an extra night in the room. This seemed very strange. I called down to the front desk and explained the situation to the desk attendant. She inquired if we "wanted towels". I told her I wanted to meet with the Manager regarding the poor service. I met with Erin Bicakci and requested compensation for the services that we had not received. He stated that he would have the room cleaned and that the only things that he could offer us were "Marriott Points", "drinks" or "breakfast". I informed him that I was very dissatisfied with this overall experience and that I expected that he would discuss this with the General Manager and get back to me. Just as I suspected, I heard nothing further about this matter from the Anchorage Marriott Downtown. We are extremely disappointed with the poor customer service that we received after we paid $395.36 for our extra night stay on July 25, 2017. We were not interested in being "compensated" with Marriott Points, drinks or breakfast. One satisfied customer tells at least one other potential customer about the experience. One dissatisfied customer tells at least ten other potential customers about the experience. Given our unsatisfactory experience, many travelers will be told about it.
"Comfortable Overnight Before Our Cruise!"
Although this hotel does not offer taxi service to the hotel, our cruise line did and we were very pleased with this hotel! As a 50 year resident, I watch the tourist enjoy the convenience of this location, but had never been a tourist in my home town until last summer...it was heart-warming to experience the Alaskan hospitality at itâ€™s BEST! After staying @ the Hotel Captain Cook for the land portion of our trip, our bags were transferred by the Marriott luggage handlers, as they wheeled our luggage a few blocks away! We were grateful for the staffs efficient check-in, accommodations & friendly suggestions! Wow! Over and above!
