"Nice place for a quick visit."
Older hotel but very clean with great staff. Convenient to downtown Anchorage, where there were plenty of restaurants and places to shop. Free shuttle from the airport was quick and easy. Stay there twice, once before our Alaska land tour and once after the tour.
Nice enough accommodations, good price. Staff treated us well. I asked for the free airport shuttle at an early hour. When they didn't have a driver available, they arranged for a taxi that they paid for. Right on time. No complaints. I will definitely stay here again.
"Tired but comfortable"
On a business trip to Anchorage, I spent four days at the Ramada Anchorage. I treated myself to a Jacuzzi room and was glad that I did, particularly after working out of doors in the cold rain. Other reviews have captured the essence of the décor and state of the HVAC so I will not repeat them here. Updates are needed. The Slippery Salmon attached restaurant was good for a breakfast and dinner or two, but other nearby choices were better. The salmon chowder at the SS was very good as was their selection of craft beers. Value for the money and the helpful staff, particularly the van drivers, boosted my rating from average to very good.
"Mouldy and Draughty"
In the beginning of August 2016 we unfortunately stayed at Ramada Anchorage for 3 nights. This hotel looks like it was a former motel and is past its peak. Positive: + Location: The Ramada is located within walking distance to the city center of Anchorage and the railway station is just down the hill. + Shuttle Service: There is a free shuttle service to the airport and railway station. + Breakfast: The BF in the affiliated restaurant was good for American standards: There were fresh fruit and vegetables, scrambled eggs, bacon and fried potatoes of good quality. Negative: Our Room: - It was located on the ground floor with an additional door leading outside to the parking lot. This door as well as the window were untight. Between the door and the frame there were gaps of around 1cm in some spots. So it got cold and draughty during the night as the outside temperature was 10 - 15°C. With only a woolen blanket between the linen we were freezing all night long. - In the bathroom it was very humid and mouldy and there was also mildew in the seams around the bathtub! Apart from that the bathroom was at least clean. - The carpet was stained and the room was generally not very clean. But the linen and towels were clean (as I expect them to be, so no +). - The grille of the A/C next to the window as well as the one from the heater next to the bathroom were very dirty. We were unsure whether it was just dust or mildew as well. As we already had some breathing issues while in the room, we did not dare to turn on the heater to solve our freezing problem. - The price for this room was close to $300.-/night. Way to much for such a ruin, even for Alaskan room price standards! - Service: The staff at front desk was friendly for the most part, though some were grumpy and one could feel that they did not like their job. - Location: We could hear the horns of the trains very well at night. This made our already bad sleep even more uncomfortable. - Breakfast: There were only plastic dishes for the breakfast. That didn't do justice to the tasty food. There is also a coin laundry and a "business center" (1 computer + 1 printer) in this hotel. We did not use them, so no judgement about these. To sum it up, our stay at Ramada Anchorage was disappointing. We will never ever stay another night in this place and would not recommend it to anyone. Extra hint: If you go there anyway, do not forget to hang the "Do Not Disturb"-Sign outside the room door if you plan to get up after 08:00: The first morning we got woken up by the house keeping lady at 08:00 in the morning. That was not a nice experience :-(. (I had never before experienced that house keeping starts that early in the morning, but as we would find out later on during our journey, that is quite common in the USA. So this is not a negative point anymore.)
"One Night Stay"
Friendly greeting upon my arrival. Room was clean and adequate for my needs. I experienced no issues during my stay. I would stay here again and recommend it to friends and fellow travelers.
