"Best Bar!! Rum Road"
Had drinks and food at the Rum Road Bar and Beidy was our fantastic bartender!! She was so pleasant and efficient and friendly! After working after the hurricane she made our evening very pleasant. Her drinks were so good we could not stop at 1!! Must go to this bar!!!
"Great Place To Stay"
I didn't have a place to stay after Hurricane Irma, and I had a hard time finding a FEMA room. I finally was given a great room here where I could rest from rebuilding in Big Pine. The staff was very friendly and caring. Rum Row quickly became my local bar and the bartenders, Brent and Beidy were awesome and gave me great service every time. When I eventually return to Big Pine, I will still make a point to visit Rum Row because of the service I received.
I recently stayed at The Gates hotel for several days. The room was clean, comfortable and modern. I went to Rum Row, the bar/lounge at the hotel. The bartenders, Brent and Beidy, were friendly and made my time there much more enjoyable. I recommend The Gates.

Food&Beverage : Very nice bar, they also have a food truck on site which serves sandwiches and snakes . Pool Area : we can't complain , very clean pool. Front desk : The lobby was classy and elegant. Staff : Brant at the bar was amazing, We was checked in by Gacim who was helpful and friendly. I highly recommend this hotel.
"My own private beach house !?!"
Hello fellow travelers, Hard Annie here with a GREAT review . This place is probably one of my favorite hotels EVER. The hotel is beautiful. It has a definite feel of luxury and yet, it's so light and tastefully done. I truly feel like luxury hotels can be overdone at times especially in a resort town. This place felt so welcoming right at the lobby, which was elegant and classy without losing it's "Key West-y" feeling. I would liken the lobby to the grand room of a large log cabin. It gives the same vibe but, in a beach setting. Everything is done in whites and rattan. There is just the right amount of "Pier One style" wicker combined artfully with chrome and other modern materials. They offer you a free alcoholic beverage as you come in based on a historic recipe; and as you serve yourself from the little side table, there is a history lesson right there for you to learn all about it. They have an amazing bar right outside the glass wall that separates the lobby from the courtyard area. It is fun and all open air in the daytime with a good dose of island savoir fare in the evening. The drinks are pricey though and this is not a mid range stay. The pool is right through the gate and they even put a sand area next to it for the little ones to "dig around on the beach". You can reserve a room around the pool as it is two stories squared off around it, or you can get one towards the back and at the end where it stretches out. We stayed towards the back and it was very quiet. Our room was awesome. I immediately felt like I was walking into my own private beach house ! It was decorated in the same tasteful,"beachy" fashion as the lobby with extra, personal touches. The foot bolster at the end of the bed was cleverly made from what looks like, old woven sack material (like what you might find on the dockside). There is no carpet and the floors almost look like they are made out of old driftwood but, it is actually tile. The bathroom...wow... it hides behind a sliding panel and is made to look like something out of Better Homes and Gardens with the old basin-in-table style sink. The place was immaculate and just all around a pleasure. I can not recommend the place any higher and I will seek to stay here first whenever budget permits ! Warmest Regards, Hard Annie.
